Chapter 182 -178: Witch’s Feast

“Ah!”

A scream echoed through the classroom.

Sun Bailun and Li Tian couldn’t understand how the timid little boy from moments ago could suddenly explode with such strength.

As they shielded their heads from the relentless storm of blows, Sun Bailun and Li Tian looked at the boy in terror.

“Brother Lin, I was wrong, I was wrong! Stop hitting me, I’m bleeding!”

“Brother Lin, we’ll never do it again! Ah! We won’t, we won’t!”

The rest of the class watched, stunned and in disbelief.

Then, the whispers began.

“Xiaolinzi is such a loser. How can he fight like this?”

“He’s beating the crap out of them, and he’s crying while he does it!”

“Hiss… The more he cries, the fiercer he gets. The harder he hits.”

“Could it be because of what Zhang Shi’ai said?”

“Is this… the power of love?”

Zhang Shi’ai stared blankly at the boy’s ferocious expression.

‘This isn’t the power of love. It’s the power of anger.’

‘To be precise, the Succubus’s Evil Mark on my abdomen has Enchanted this boy.’

Although the Succubus’s Evil Mark on every Witch’s abdomen was the same, the different personalities of the Witches produced different powers.

Take the Proud Witch, for example.

She was arrogant enough to be a sadomasochistic queen.

Her power of Enchantment was like an imperial edict, compelling unconditional belief.

Zhang Shi’ai had originally been very self-conscious, but within minutes of meeting the Proud Witch, she had become completely proud of her own beauty.

Or take her, Zhang Shi’ai, for another example.

Anger was in her very bones.

Anger at the world’s injustice toward her, anger at her parents’ neglect.

Thus, her Succubus’s Evil Mark carried this suppressed anger, giving Zhang Shi’ai the power to Enchant and stir the deepest anger within a person’s heart.

Just like Xiaolinzi, who felt that a beauty was standing up for him, and that he shouldn’t be a coward.

This was the Witches’ Charm Art.

Zhang Shi’ai cleared her throat and composed herself.

“Everyone, please be quiet.”

Xiaolinzi grabbed a stool and violently smashed it against the wall.

“BOOM!”

After the loud crash, plaster fell from the wall and the stool was destroyed.

Xiaolinzi’s bloodshot eyes glared furiously at everyone.

“Everyone shut the fuck up! All of you, shut the fuck up!”

Everyone fell silent.

When they looked at Xiaolinzi now, their eyes held a new fear.

‘Has this person gone mad?’

“CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!”

Slow, deliberate applause rang out.

Zhang Shi’ai looked toward the door and saw the Proud Witch, a smile on her face.

The Proud Witch glanced at the students and commanded,

“Everyone, downstairs.”

After she spoke, the Proud Witch turned around, and her delicate body suddenly trembled.

She saw seven black-robed figures standing right in the doorway, right in front of her!

‘This… How is this possible?!’

‘Weren’t the Seven People supposed to move clockwise around the school, with the academic building as the center?’

‘Could it be that they’ve already killed everyone outside of the teachers and students in this building?’

Zhang Shi’ai’s face was full of suspicion. She was about to step down from the teacher’s platform.

“Proud Witch…”

The Proud Witch whipped her head around and snapped,

“Don’t move!”

The Proud Witch felt a cold hand gently pat her on the shoulder.

Cold sweat instantly broke out and trickled down.

The feeling was like the Death God itself was seizing her soul!

A hoarse voice whispered in her ear:

“Proud…”

…

A large black commercial van was parked at the school gate.

In the back of the van sat several fully-armed Investigators.

Li Mingyue sat in the front passenger seat, frowning at the school.

It was almost eleven o’clock. The school bell had rung twice, but there wasn’t a single person on the athletic field.

Forget students and teachers; even the security booth at the gate was empty.

The school was like a ghost school!

The kind where you see a ghost in broad daylight!

This anomaly confirmed it: Jin Meiting had been telling the truth. A supernatural event was indeed happening here.

The strange thing was, why were there no casualties?

‘If a large number of humans had died, my Eye of Hela would have shed a tear.’

“Captain, we’re connected to the school’s surveillance system.”

An Investigator handed Li Mingyue a portable work computer that looked like a small suitcase.

Li Mingyue took the computer and frowned.

The library was empty, the gymnasium was empty, and there was no one in the cafeteria either.

Normally, with it being almost eleven, the cafeteria should have had lunch prepared by now.

Li Mingyue continued to check the surveillance feeds.

Finally, she found the students.

They were lined up and being led downstairs by several female teachers.

‘No, those aren’t female teachers.’

‘They’re too beautiful—abnormally so.’

What kind of school would have multiple female teachers with the looks of movie stars all at once?

As an Anomaly Investigator, one had to notice abnormal phenomena in the smallest details.

Li Mingyue narrowed her eyes and tapped the keyboard, preparing to zoom in for a closer look.

Suddenly, the screen blurred.

A bright red, bizarre pattern appeared on the screen.

Li Mingyue frowned.

“What’s going on?”

The Investigator in charge of information technology was dumbfounded.

“This… were we hacked? Is there an advanced hacker in the school?”

A voice, technologically altered, came from the computer. It was Little Bear (the Gorging Witch’s nickname):

“Divine Tear, right?

My sister asked me to tell you something.

At twelve o’clock, if the students haven’t come out, evacuate the entire North District.

Because once all the living people in the Twenty-Fourth Middle School are dead, the Seven People will expand their radius of activity.

If only one of us makes it out…

Divine Tear, don’t worry about any of us. You must take the Spear of Destiny to Dusk.”

Li Mingyue narrowed her eyes.

“Where is she?”

There was no response from the other end.

A young Investigator asked,

“Leader, who was that?”

This young Investigator was named Xiaozhou, a recent graduate of the Imperial Capital Sheriff University.

His academic performance was excellent, and he had been noticed by the leadership of the Anomaly Administration Bureau, who promoted him directly into the bureau as a regular Investigator.

Li Mingyue was silent for a moment.

“Not well. We’ve crossed paths twice.”

Xiaozhou’s face was full of admiration.

“You’re amazing, Leader. You actually have connections with people from the Extraordinary World.”

At the same time, Xiaozhou’s heart filled with longing.

‘My dream used to be to become a Sheriff like the ones in foreign blockbusters.’

‘Someone who could not only solve cases but also navigate both the criminal underworld and the world of law.’

‘When faced with a cunning criminal, I’d issue a bounty on their head and have my friends in the underworld hunt them down.’

‘How cool would that be!’

‘But now? Clearly, my ambitions were too small back then.’

‘Someone like the Divine Tears Leader has direct contact with people from the Extraordinary World!’

Another Investigator scoffed.

“Xiaozhou, you’re new here. There’s a lot you don’t know yet.”

Our leader’s abilities are much greater than you think!”

Xiaozhou blinked, looking at Li Mingyue—a woman only a few years older than him—with a face full of reverence.

“I’ve heard the stories. When she was a Sheriff, she snatched someone right from under the Ghost County Magistrate’s nose.”

As a regular Investigator, she found one key clue after another about the Yin Yang Master.

Later, she went deep into the lion’s den, earned the appreciation of Mr. Dusk, and gained Supernatural Power.”

“The Divine Tears Leader was also one of the key figures in killing that degenerate Bai Juzhi…”

Li Mingyue grew impatient.

“Alright, shut up!”

Li Mingyue was in a very bad mood.

First, she was worried about Jin Meiting, worried her friend would die in that school.

Second, she didn’t understand Jin Meiting.

Since she knew long ago that a supernatural event was happening at the Twenty-Fourth Middle School, why didn’t she notify her sooner?

At the very least, she could have sealed off the school earlier and not let the students attend!

The entire school’s students, teachers, and staff were now in danger!

“Meiting, what on earth are you doing?!”

Li Mingyue clenched her fists.

…

Jin Meiting sprinted through the academic building, phone in hand.

“Does anyone know what the situation is with Lina!?”

Jin Meiting’s plan was simple.

According to the rules of the Seven People provided by Evil Crow and Yang Xiao:

One, the Seven People move clockwise with the academic building as their center.

Two, before locking onto a target, the Seven People move slowly, no different from ordinary people.

Three, the true bodies of the Seven People are in the dance studio.

Four, if someone touches the true bodies of the Seven People (the remnants of the Spear of Destiny), the Seven People will instantly return to the dance studio.

Five, the Seven People can only kill one person at a time and will perform some kind of short ritual before killing.

Therefore, Jin Meiting had devised a three-step plan.

First, after gaining control of the entire school, lead the students in a clockwise path with the academic building as the center to evade the Seven People.

They would try to maintain a position opposite to the Seven People: if the Seven People were in the east, the students would be in the west, and if the Seven People were in the west, the students would be in the east.

This way, the Seven People would never lock onto them.

During this time, the Witches would use their Charm Art to continuously Hypnotize the students, making them instinctively keep their distance from the Seven People.

Furthermore, as long as a large number of students remained alive in the school, the Seven People’s area of activity would not expand beyond the school grounds.

Second, Jin Meiting would go to the dance studio and rendezvous with the other Witches who had finished Hypnotizing the students.

They would then transport the Spear of Destiny out via a relay.

For example, if the Lazy Witch was targeted by the Seven People, the other Witches would take the Spear of Destiny while the Seven People were performing their killing ritual.

After the killing ritual ended, and the next Witch holding the Spear of Destiny was targeted, the remaining Witches would take the spear and continue to flee.

And so on. If they were lucky, the last Witch might be able to carry the Spear of Destiny out of the school.

Once it was out of the school, the Anomaly Investigation Bureau would come into play.

The seventh Witch would certainly die.

But…

The people from the Anomaly Investigation Bureau would continue the relay race!

…until the Spear of Destiny reached Antique Shop Zero.

Jin Meiting’s plan even accounted for the contribution of her best friend.

Of course, only Li Mingyue knew the location of Antique Shop Zero.

Therefore, Li Mingyue had to be the last person to take the Spear of Destiny.

At that time, Li Mingyue would cooperate with Dusk to contain the Spear of Destiny, earning another great merit.

If their luck was bad, it would be just as Little Bear had said.

The Anomaly Administration Bureau would evacuate the entire North District.

The students would continue to evade the Seven People, waiting for Dusk to head to the Twenty-Fourth Middle School.

…

Jin Meiting had a massive headache.

The plan was good, but their luck was terrible.

Who could have predicted that just as the plan began, the Seven People would return to the academic building?

Jin Meiting suddenly thought of something and clenched her fists in frustration.

When Little Bear took over the surveillance at the Twenty-Fourth Middle School, she had said it:

The cafeteria, the stadium, the security office, etc.—every building except the academic building was completely empty.

The Seven People had already killed everyone outside the academic building. It was time for them to return to the building and begin the next round of slaughter.

Before the ‘relay race’ even started, the death of any Witch would greatly increase the chances of the plan failing!

Just then, the Proud Witch’s shaken voice came through the phone:

“I-I’m okay!”

Surprise flooded Jin Meiting’s face, followed immediately by a deep frown.

‘How… could she be okay?’

The sound of frantic footsteps came from the Proud Witch’s end.

Jin Meiting could tell that the Proud Witch was leading the students downstairs.

The Proud Witch continued,

“The Seven People did start the ritual on me, but then they all just froze.”

I took the chance while they were motionless and escaped.”

“Oh, right…”

The Proud Witch paused, then continued,

“I suspect the Seven People have a new rule!

But I don’t know how to say it; it’s hard to explain.

A crow popped out from the robe of the black-robed figure who put his hand on my shoulder.

That crow was unconscious, sleeping, but…”

As the Proud Witch ran, she looked down, her expression complicated.

A crow was tightly gripping her tube top, its face nuzzled against her chest, drooling in its sleep!
