The Devil's Sweetheart

Standing in front of Leena's unit, Wilbur's blood was simmering with irritation. Narcissistic brat. She must be having her beauty sleep.

He has keyed the password twice but each time it says incorrect. He quit going for a third attempt to not alert the security and they would come running behind him even if he is her relative.

What's wrong with this annoying sister? She is being secretive now changing the password? Little did Wilbur know, it was Devin who has changed it seeing Reese constantly barging into the house now and then from yesterday.

Even when Wilbur called her, the mobile ringed, but it was not picked up by Leena. His panic grew when he sensed something might have happened to her again. There was no one with her on the day she was tormented by Ethan and when he was back, the damage was already done and he lost the happy and funny going Leena. She became a broken doll. For days, she did not speak with anyone silently crying in that room.

He promised Francy that he would take care of her but he failed. Not once, twice and for a whole year, Francis did not speak with him and he accepted the punishment. Only when Cutie was born, Wilbur earned little brownie points and Francis slowly started to talk with him.

He brushed that terrible memory which only left pain. It's not time to dwell on that matter. Right now, he has to catch his sister red-handed if she is pulling out any naughty activity.

His patience was thinning and finally, after pressing the intercom multiple times, the door was opened. He was nearly ready to reprimand his sister for being careless but not a word came out of his mouth when he saw a tall person standing in front of him. His jaw dropped to the ground and his eyes bulged out of the socket.

Did I enter the wrong house?

Wilbur's face went pale as if he was visualizing things. He thought he was taking a walk on the wild side when he saw his friend here.

There is no way, Devin would be here, right?

Since yesterday night he was restless whenever he remembered Leena's voice. He couldn't accept the theory when she told him that she screamed because of a cockroach. He could sense there is something odd about her voice.

Although Leena sent a message right after the call ended and reassured him that nothing has happened but his mind was in unrest and due to the tension, he has been hitting the bathroom continuously. He wanted to visit right after he talked with Leena but his annoying daughter has committed another mischievous activity again and he was tending to her. Right when he woke up in the morning, he rushed to see Leena but never in his dreams he expected he would see his friend the moment the door was opened.

It must be a hallucination. I must have come to the wrong place.

"Sorry, Vincy. I was intending to go to my sister's house but I must have come to your house by_"

"Devin...Where are you? I am hungry. Breakfast is on you today." A sluggish voice followed by a figure entered Wilbur's eyes. For a second, words muffled and he froze seeing the picture before him.

It can't happen. My sister...Devin...together? What are they doing in the house? One nightstand? But both are not such kind of persons. Am I dreaming then? It must be a dream.

Even Leena was shocked to see Wilbur here. She instantly woke up when she missed her warm comforter and when she glanced at her sides, Devin was not in the bed. She quickly got up to check for him in the living room but what Leena did not expect is her brother has appeared.

"Will..." She sucked a breath of air anxiously after getting caught red-handed by her brother. She was ought to give surprise but every time she was getting the surprise when she wants to introduce her family to Devin, just like Francy.

"Leena...you and Vincy..am I imagining?" Wilbur looked at their outfit and started imagining things.

"It's not your imagination. Indeed, we are together." Devin pulled Leena closer and hugged her protectively.

"Why did you come without wearing flip-flops. The floor is a little cold here." Devin scolded, lifted her a little by the waist, and laid her on his feet so that she would feel the warmth. Although she is thin, she has a bone weight. But for Devin, it was a cakewalk to carry or lift Leena.

"I thought you left me." She sulked and wrapped her arms around his torso for support completely forgetting about her brother when she was with Devin.

"Where would I go leaving you alone?" Devin's voice dropped to whisper which only she could hear.

His jaw dropped to the ground again watching them being intimate. His sister let her touch a man willingly? Damn it! It's not only touching but she is being comfortable around a man and that is his best friend Vincy? What on earth happened? Did it rain in the wasteland? When did they meet? Was it at Austin's wedding or before that?

He always feels that his sister deserves the best man in the world and when he got to know that Leena was in a relationship with Ethan after a scandal broke in the university, he fumed with rage. Until then she tightly secured the information about her relationship. Even Jane and Reese didn't tell him.

Although Ethan was a good friend, he did not want to give Leena to the Davies family which is fucked up with the politics. A sadistic mother-in-law and alcoholic father-in-law was the last thing he wanted for her.

But after that accident and break up with Ethan, he didn't see her with any man until today. Considering the wealth and the power, Devin would be a perfect match for Leena in everything. But then again he thought, his friend would not like her crazy behavior and Wilbur did not want to sever their friendship in case some mishaps occur because of Leena. So, it never reached his brain to match these two together. Had he knew Devin wanted this kind of girl, he would have introduced her sister long before.

For a second, he wanted to close his eyes and pray for Devin. How is he going to handle this narcissist in the future?

"Vincy." Wilbur started to gain their vigilance. "When did_"

"Let's talk at home Wilbur," Devin confided and opened the door for Wilbur. He grabbed the flip flops from the rack and put them in front of Leena.

"Go inside and brush your teeth. I will take care of breakfast and your brother."

Leena nodded and left the place before gazing at her brother sheepishly.

She is feeling shy? I have to have something to clear my mind.

Right, when Wilbur entered the house, Devin implored. " Feel free in our house. What do you want to drink? Since you are going to be my brother-in-law, I have to offer you something because this is our first official meeting."

"I_"

"Coffee?" Devin cut off in the middle. "But my sweetheart is vegan. So, you can't get coffee with milk in our house. Maybe a juice?" Devin shamelessly bragged as if he is a household husband.

For another time, Wilbur was shocked. Isn't Vincy gloating too much? She is my sister and he is advising me as if I don't know about her habits. What is it again? Brother-in-law? I haven't even approved the relationship. When did Wang Devin turn into a shameless vulture?

"Leave all the formalities, I want to talk with you alone." Wilbur declared leaving no room for discussions. He wanted to ask if he is serious about Leena first because he knew Devin liked a girl in the past.

Once when all their friends were together, Devin has drunk like mad zany and accidentally spilled that he loves a girl but he can't be with her. He was literally on the verge of crying on that day. When he asked about her details, he passed out. He tried to check in his mobile for any photos but that damn phone was locked. But the next day he appeared to be alright as if he did not speak about her and when he was confronted, he said, it's just a prank to make him worried. But he knew Devin was lying.

Wilbur brushed off that thought at that time but right now, he can't, not after his sister is involved.

No one heard Devin's confession on that except Wilbur because his alcohol tending capacity is very minimal. So, he didnot drink.

Right now he wanted to ask if Devin still loves her.. If it is, he is not going to give Leena to him.
