The Darkness System: Rise of the Broken Sovereign
Chapter 319: Making An Entrance
Draxos tilted his head, his dark red eyes gleaming with amusement. His shoulder had fully healed, the flesh knitting together as if Kael’s Void Split had never touched him. He flexed his four arms, rolling his shoulders, the exoskeleton armor reforming across his body.
"I thought you didn’t have the Heavenly Flame," Draxos said, his voice dripping with mock disappointment. "Wasn’t that what you said? ’I don’t know what you’re talking about?’" He chuckled. "Lying to a demon."
Kael didn’t respond with words.
The Demonic Asura Flame erupted from his body in full brilliance—FWOOOM—purple-black fire coating his blades, his arms, his shoulders, spreading across his entire frame like living armor. The primordial fire law radiated outward, distorting the air, cracking the ground beneath his feet. The temperature in the area skyrocketed—HISS—moisture in the air evaporating instantly.
The flame’s primordial fire law amplified his combat power significantly. His aura, already enhanced by the Heart of the Carnage Deity, surged—SURGE—the crimson Slaughter Intent fusing with the purple-black flames, creating a devastating hybrid energy. His physical strength, speed, and destructive output all multiplied.
Kael launched forward—WHOOSH—his Shadow Slayer blades trailing arcs of purple-black fire. He struck at Draxos with a diagonal slash—CLANG—the blade meeting a greatsword. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward—BOOM—but this time, Draxos was pushed back. His feet carved trenches—SKRT—the exoskeleton armor on his sword arm cracking under the combined weight of Slaughter Intent and Demonic Asura Fire.
Draxos’s eyes widened slightly. "Interesting."
Kael pressed the advantage. He injected Gravity Rule Power into his blade—HUMMM—the gravitational force compressing around the edge, multiplying the cutting power. A downward slash—CRASH—shattered the ground where Draxos had been standing, the demon dodging at the last moment. Kael followed with Lightning Rule Power—CRACKLE—blue-white electricity surging through the blade, creating a hybrid slash of fire, lightning, gravity, and darkness.
FWOOM. CRACKLE. BOOM.
The combination attack struck Draxos’s side—SLASH—tearing through his exoskeleton armor and drawing dark blood—SPLAT. Draxos grunted, more surprised than hurt.
Kael planted his feet. Both hands pressed together. The gravity around him shifted—HUMMM—the air itself growing heavy, dense, crushing. His domain activated.
"Reality Annex: Bed of the Sunken Horizon."
The battlefield transformed. RUMBLE. The ground within an eighty-meter radius softened—BLORP—turning into a viscous, quasi-liquid state that pulled everything downward. Ten times normal gravity crashed down—CRASH—the amplified force pressing against Draxos’s body. The Law of the Sunken Anchor activated—each attack within the domain would double the gravitational pressure on the target.
Draxos sank—SINK—his boots plunging into the ground. His four arms braced against the pressure, his wings folding tight against his back. The gravity pressed down on him from every direction—GROAN—his exoskeleton armor groaning under the strain.
But Draxos fought through it.
His Body Manipulation activated—SHIFT, CRACK—his body density increasing, his muscles swelling, his bones thickening to resist the gravitational compression. His Wrath Intent blazed—RUMBLE—dark red energy flooding his pathways, boosting his physical output beyond what the gravity domain could suppress. He pushed forward—STEP, STEP—each step a battle against the crushing force, his feet sinking deeper with every movement but never stopping.
The battle escalated. Kael attacked from multiple angles—Shadow Step, Lightning Body, darkness orbs—all amplified by the domain’s gravitational advantage. Draxos countered with four-armed sword techniques, bone spike barrages, and devastating physical strikes that created craters even within the amplified gravity.
But Kael was holding his own. The combination of Demonic Asura Fire, Slaughter Intent, Gravity Domain, and his Spirit Soul Rank 1 cultivation was enough—barely—to match Draxos’s suppressed output.
Then Draxos stopped holding back.
His body expanded—CRACK, RIPLE—his frame growing from three meters to four, then five. His horns lengthened—GROW—curving backward like a crown of bone, their tips glowing with dark red energy. His wings spread wide—FWOOM—each one expanding to eight meters, their surfaces hardening into armored plates. His skin darkened—SHIFT—turning from dark brown to near-black, covered in ridged demonic markings that pulsed with ancient power.
His power surged—RUMBLE—to an entirely different level. The gravity domain cracked—CRACK—the Bed of the Sunken Horizon’s pressure unable to contain the sheer output of his true demon form. The ground beneath him solidified—CRACK—his Body Manipulation overriding the domain’s liquefaction effect.
The domain shattered—BOOM—Kael’s Reality Annex breaking apart like glass under the pressure of Draxos’s unleashed aura.
Draxos moved.
Kael didn’t see him. His Spirit Eyes and soul sense barely able to keep up. One moment Draxos was fifty meters away. The next, he was in front of Kael—WHOOSH—a fist slamming into his chest.
CRACK. Kael’s reactive armor shattered. His ribs cracked—CRACK—multiple fractures propagating through his ribcage. He was launched backward—WHOOSH—but Draxos was already behind him.
A bone spike erupted from Draxos’s palm—CRACK—piercing through Kael’s right thigh—SLUHK. Kael screamed—AGH—the pain blinding. Before he could react, another bone spike pierced his left arm—SLUHK—pinning it to his side. Then his right shoulder—SLUHK. Then his torso—SLUHK, SLUHK—two spikes through his abdomen, narrowly missing his vital organs.
Kael fell—THUD—his body hitting the ground, immobilized. Five bone spikes pinned him. Blood pooled beneath him. His Void Body Refinement fought to regenerate, but the spikes infused with demonic mana were still inside him, preventing healing.
Draxos stood over him, looking down with those dark red eyes. His true demon form loomed over Kael. He raised one hand, a bone spike slowly extending from his palm, aimed at Kael’s back.
"It’s a shame, really," Draxos said, his voice deeper in his true form. "You had potential. But potential means nothing when—"
FWOOM.
A powerful blast of fox fire—FWOOM—erupted from the sky, slamming into Draxos’s side. The fire was infused with rule power—CRACKLE—golden-tinged flames carrying the weight of ancient fox bloodline authority. The impact forced Draxos to step back, the bone spike in his palm retracting instinctively.
Draxos looked up.
Two figures floated in the air above.
Two beautiful nine-tailed foxes. Their forms were humanoid but unmistakably fox-kin—elegant, radiant, powerful. Nine tails spread behind each of them like royal banners, swaying gently in the wind. Their auras blazed pressing down on the battlefield.
Draxos’s dark red eyes narrowed as he assessed the two newcomers.
Kael, bleeding on the ground, managed to lift his head. His silver-flecked eyes focused on the two newcomers as recognition flickered.
