The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System

Chapter 585 The time is coming...

Chapter 585 The time is coming…

It was a peaceful day in the kingdom of Valemont.

Attacks by Green Skins had dwindled to the point of near-extinction, and the kingdom had even managed to reclaim some of the lands lost to them.

With the pacification of the last traitorous cells and the stabilization of the economy by the Banner of Burning Red and the Banner of Five Colors, the kingdom’s future could not be brighter.

To further brighten the kingdom’s prospects, the royal family announced that the queen was pregnant again, blessing them with yet another prince or princess.

David Valemont was, naturally, living the best days of his life, relaxing by a lake in one of the many private palaces in the capital.

He was lying on the grass, his head resting on his wife’s lap as he caressed her belly.

Inside her womb, he could feel life slowly developing.

David had just been relaxing, but soon his eyes shifted, looking up at the sky and seeing a figure approaching.

It was Qingyi, carrying Isabel in his arms.

“Father-in-law and mother-in-law are really living the best of lives, aren’t they? Hahaha.” Qingyi gave a soft chuckle, coming to a stop in front of the two.

“Ah… all thanks to my dear son-in-law, hahaha.” David laughed heartily, rising from his wife’s lap.

As he approached Qingyi, Isabel hugged her mother gently.

“Mom, is it true that you’re pregnant again? Do you know yet if it’s going to be a little brother or a little sister?” Isabel asked, her eyes sparkling as she clutched her mother’s hands.

“Yes… honey, your father hasn’t given me a moment’s rest since he recovered, fufufu~~” The queen gave a soft chuckle, elegantly covering her lips. “We don’t know the baby’s gender yet.”

“And my dear son-in-law? Is he already working on giving me grandkids too?” She looked at Qingyi.

“Well…” Isabel blushed. “We’ve been working very hard, but… I don’t think it’s the right time.”

“Hm…” The queen looked disappointed at first, but soon shook her head, taking her daughter’s hands and leading her into the palace.

Before long, Qingyi and David Valemont found themselves alone.

“Ah…” David sighed, sitting down on the soft grass and pulling a bottle of wine from his spatial ring.

“Is the time coming?” he asked, his voice tinged with sorrow.

He wasn’t among the top-tier beings of this world, but as king, he still knew of many things.

Sooner or later, a talent like Qingyi would have to set out for a world of incomparable dangers and fortunes, where he would either die or ascend to a level so high that Valemont could never even begin to imagine.

The thought of having his beloved daughter and his dear son-in-law in such a distant and dangerous place was more than enough to make the king’s heart sink.

“Yes, the time is coming…” Qingyi nodded, a bitter expression on his face as well.

When he left the mortal realm, there weren’t many for whom he felt true affection.

His wives were all with him, and the people who were dear to him were so out of respect, not affection.

Here it was different.

He had people he truly loved.

He had more than respect for Lucios, for David, for the white heron, for Jin Hao, for Tai’ren.

For all his fathers- and mothers-in-law.

They were all truly important to Qingyi, people whose loss would

hurt him.

“I’ll visit a few more people, and in a week I must prepare to overcome the celestial tribulation and ascend,” Qingyi said, opening the system shop and spending trillions of lust points to buy items in bulk. When he finished, all the items appeared in a small silver spatial ring.

That was the guarantee Qingyi would leave for his loved ones.

Enough resources for both the King and Queen of Valemont to reach the twelfth stage.

With the number of peak experts who had died during the Heavenly Demon’s descent, they were in a perfect position so that no one would dare to question their reign.

David took the spatial ring with a confused look.

When he looked inside, his confusion turned to shock.

Elixirs that made his body tremble just from sensing their aura, divided into even-numbered compartments of ascending power. Some he knew he could take right now; others, if taken, would make him explode immediately.

“The pills are for talent enhancement; the elixirs are to facilitate your advancement.” Qingyi smiled, placing his hand on his father-in-law’s shoulders.

“Don’t die on me, old man. When I return here, I hope you’ll already be at the top of the world.”

David swallowed hard.

He tried to refuse, thought about refusing, but in the end, he could only stare at the floor.

If he were a woman or a weak-minded man, he would have already burst into tears.

“Thank you, son-in-law.” David finally opened his mouth, his words sincere despite his attempts to suppress his own feelings.

He was a king who had ruled for centuries, but he was no match for

Qingyi.

“It’s nothing, father-in-law, hahaha.” Qingyi laughed. “I’m doing this for Isabel, and for myself, too.”

In the end, David just laughed along with him.

“And that other girl? Where is she?” David asked. “I don’t think our

trade agreements will be worth much now that you’re leaving with

her.”

“Meilin? She’s at the Blazing Red Pavilion branch here in the kingdom; she should be coming over soon.” Qingyi replied.

“And the agreements will be honored. After we leave, the Blazing Red Pavilion will be integrated into her father’s Five-Colored Pavilion.”

“I see…” David sighed, standing up.

“Let’s go! Since your time here is coming to an end, we must prepare

a grand banquet! The people must witness the grace of the Lightning

Prince!” The king declared proudly, and together with his son-in-law, he returned to the palace, where they fetched their wives and headed

straight for the capital.

There, the king announced a grand banquet that would involve the

entire city.

The royal livestock reserves were emptied, tens of thousands of butchers summoned to the streets of the royal capital, where they would serve barbecue to the entire population.

Such preparations were made in record time, and even though it cost

a fortune, David didn’t care.

This could be the last time he saw Qingyi and his daughter.

No amount of money would be worth that.

And so, the royal capital celebrated for days on end, the people

chanting the name of the Lightning Prince as they drank and ate a hearty barbecue.

After all, what better way to please a weary people than with good food, good music, and good beer?
