Vera Xavier turned to Susan Caldwell and said, "I’m so sorry about that. I got a little carried away and went a bit too far. I hope you don’t mind."

When Susan Caldwell heard this, she nearly exploded with rage. Vera wasn’t apologizing at all; she was shirking all responsibility while deliberately rubbing salt in the wound. The "Mom" Vera had mentioned was Rona Langdon—Susan’s own biological mother!

Susan Caldwell glared viciously at Vera Xavier, who met her gaze with a faint smile. At that moment, Susan was a complete disaster; her face was swollen like a pig’s, and blood was still trickling from her nose. It was a stark contrast to the calm and composed Vera.

Susan Caldwell couldn’t take it anymore. She scrambled to her feet and lunged at Vera, ready to tear her apart, but Sheldon Caldwell stopped her just as she got up. "Zhang, take her to the infirmary."

Susan Caldwell was furious. "I’m not going! Vera did it on purpose! You have to punish her!"

"Fine," Sheldon Caldwell said, his face cold. "If you don’t want to go, you can stay and continue your training. I said at the very beginning of this match that everyone was to give it their all. Vera might have been a bit heavy-handed, but she did nothing fundamentally wrong. Therefore, I will not punish her."

He had seen the entire fight between Susan and Vera clearly. Susan’s tactics could only be described as dirty tricks, and he was thoroughly disgusted. If Susan weren’t his sister, he might have even applauded Vera for beating her like this.

But Susan was his own sister, and he felt nothing but utter humiliation. Right now, he just wanted to find a hole to crawl into and hide.

Susan Caldwell burst into tears. "You’re taking her side! Do you have a crush on her or something?"

Her words plunged the entire area into silence once again.

Susan Caldwell had changed her mind. Her original plan was to set up Vera Xavier and Shane Caldwell to completely ruin Vera. But now, she had a new target. After Sheldon had given her such a hard time, she now hated him too. In her anger, she completely forgot all the times he had taken care of her.

Sheldon Caldwell’s face was as black as thunder. He and Susan had actually spent very little time together over the years. So, while he had been disappointed in her recently, he had chalked it up to her being spoiled rotten and was still thinking of ways to set her straight.

But today, Susan’s behavior had made his heart grow cold. Her malicious, irrational antics had finally crossed the line.

Seeing the look on his face, Susan Caldwell had a bad feeling. Then she heard his icy voice. "Forget the infirmary. Take her to the president’s office!"

Because of an agreement between Sheldon Caldwell and Lane Yancey, any student unwilling to participate in military training could be sent directly to the president’s office to be expelled.

Susan Caldwell knew about this, and her face instantly went white.

She knew the Caldwell family rules all too well. If she genuinely made a mistake, there would be no cover-up. Even Julian Caldwell, who doted on her, would never shield her when it came to major issues, to say nothing of Sheldon, whose personality was so similar to Winter Sullivan’s.

She knew this brother of hers. Although he usually made harmless jokes, he was, at his core, an incredibly upright person. He was more than capable of actually sending her to the president’s office.

Getting into Veridia University had been her greatest accomplishment, something to show off. But if she were expelled right at the start of the semester, her life in Veridia’s elite social circles would be over.
