Susan Caldwell ground her teeth. She knew she’d never be able to convince Sheldon Caldwell, which meant she had no choice but to grit her teeth and push through the rest of the training.

It had to be said, she was naturally smart and very capable. When she wasn’t trying to slack off, she was actually quite formidable.

Plus, having attended real military training in the past, she already had some skills and techniques down. When it came to combat, the average female student was no match for her.

She performed very well in other areas too, making her the strongest girl in her platoon.

Meanwhile, the military exercises had officially begun. Sheldon Caldwell had thought Nathaniel Nathan wouldn’t be back from his mission so quickly, giving his unit a chance to fight for first place. But when the exercise started and he saw Nathaniel, Sheldon had a very bad feeling about everything.

Sheldon Caldwell cursed inwardly before leading his teammates into the exercise. Then, as expected, they were completely surrounded and wiped out by Nathaniel Nathan’s unit. To add insult to injury, Nathaniel even landed a punch on his face.

As he got punched, Sheldon cursed, "Damn it! There are rules! No hitting the face! Nathaniel Nathan, you bastard!"

The moment he finished yelling, another fist met the other side of his face. He immediately shut his mouth. ’Looks like the more I talk, the more I get hit!’

Nathaniel Nathan shot him a cold look and, in a rare moment of speech, said, "That’s for your smart mouth."

Sheldon Caldwell was on the verge of tears from frustration. ’I can’t beat Nathaniel Nathan in a fight, so can’t I at least get in a few verbal jabs? This is just unfair!’

So, when he showed up at Veridia University, he was once again black and blue, drawing countless curious stares from the students.

The students had been harboring a great deal of resentment toward him, so seeing him in this state, they were practically bursting to spread the news. At the same time, they were dying to know who had beaten him up.

The students also noticed something else: all the instructors were in low spirits today, as if they had suffered a major blow.

A student with connections excitedly shared what they’d heard, "There was a military exercise today! The Devil Instructor’s unit was a strong contender for first place, but they lost! Apparently, they were completely surrounded and wiped out by another unit!"

"That can’t be right," another student questioned. "I heard The Devil Instructor’s unit is top-tier in their organization. How could they have been completely wiped out?"

The student who had first spoken laughed. "That’s because there’s a unit even stronger than theirs! You all probably don’t know this, but an incredibly formidable person appeared in Veridia’s military this past year. His background and identity are both a complete mystery, but his power is off the charts. Ever since he became a deputy commander, his unit has crushed The Devil Instructor’s unit in every single exercise, taking first place every time."

"He’s that incredible!" a student exclaimed.

Hearing their discussion, Vera Xavier’s lips curved into a slight smile. She knew the person who had beaten up Sheldon Caldwell was Nathaniel Nathan. It seemed he was back from his mission.

She knew Nathaniel Nathan had been on overseas missions for several years and had only returned a year ago. He never revealed his true identity, yet his personal strength was off the charts. ’To everyone else, he’s a total enigma.’

Although Sheldon Caldwell couldn’t hear the students’ chatter, he saw the looks in their eyes. ’These little brats have some real nerve, daring to laugh at my expense!’

And so, with a sharp blow of a whistle, the break ended. It was time for the next round of training.
