Chapter 337: Are You Sure?
Chapter 337: 337: Are You Sure?
In Simon’s memories, the cracks he was seeing in reality were suddenly healing on their own.
They did not shatter.
The world did not suddenly transform.
And he heard no voice.
He was baffled by what he was seeing, and a deep frown could be seen on his face as he watched the crack slowly heal itself.
’What is this crack? Is it on my eyes? Or on the world itself?’
’Is this a side effect of the Hollow Gaze?’
Simon had no answers to his questions, but he knew someone that might.
[Lilith.]
He called out to Lilith, and he immediately received an annoyed response.
[What is it?]
Simon did not mind her tone, he had other things to worry about.
[Is there a side effect of Hollow Gaze? Or Hollow Gaze combining with my Sky Eye?]
[Like maybe I’ll start seeing strange things after the combination of both ocular techniques?]
[Are you dumb? Strange things like what? You’re the one that’s meant to be making your enemies strange things? Why would it be the other way around?]
Simon’s frown deepened, and he looked at the finger nail sized crack in front of him.
He watched it slowly heal, and the world became completely normal in his eyes once again.
“I see.” He mumbled softly underneath his breath. However, he was left with even more answers.
’She sounds like she doesn’t know anything, and if that is the case… why did I see those cracks earlier?’
’What were those cracks?’
’Is it because I successfully combined both ocular techniques that I saw those cracks? Or is it because of my mental energy?’
The more Simon thought about it, the more he believed that the reason why he was seeing those cracks is because of his strange mental energy.
Because Lilith could not enter his sea of consciousness without his permission, she had no idea about his strange mental energy.
If Simon had the normal mental energy of a demon, the broken ring would have been red, not black.
’The only other reason I can think of is that Lilith expected this and she’s lying. That might explain why she suddenly gave me the technique.’
’But what does she gain from me seeing the crack? It has done nothing to me.’
Simon could not help but scratch the side of his head, and three seconds after he did this, Lilith suddenly manifested before him.
Simon was taken aback. “Lilith?”
She did not respond.
She crouched and moved closer to Simon, her face dangerously close to Simon’s.
Simon instinctively moved his back since this was so sudden and without any explanations, but Lilith’s hand suddenly grabbed his neck and Simon’s eyes flashed with a cold light.
Before he could react, Lilith spoke.
“Don’t move.”
For some reason, her words compelled him to not react and he became calm.
However, he still had a frown and a dark expression behind his mask.
It felt weird being held by the neck by a woman.
Meanwhile, Lilith was looking into Simon’s eyes with a baffled and solemn light in her eyes.
A few seconds later, she let go of him and moved back a little.
She then gave him a serious expression and asked with the same tone.
“So you used the Sky Eye as the base of both techniques and you made the Hollow Gaze the outer layer?”
Simon tilted his head slightly. He was confused but he answered the question regardless.
“Yeah. I did.” He nodded.
Lilith nodded. “That’s quite smart. Using the Sky Eye as the base was a better option since Sky Eye is part of your racial abilities. Your body and bloodline would have rejected it if you made Hollow Gaze the outer layer and you would most likely have died.”
Simon blinked, but he didn’t give a response.
He had actually not know this since things about bloodlines and race was not common on Earth back in his time.
The reasons why he made Sky Eye the base is just because his instincts and experience told him to do so.
And the other reason is because he still did not trust Lilith.
He had a little bit of wariness toward the Hollow Gaze, and he was not going to make a technique Lilith as the base of something as important as his eyes.
“Why are the rings around your pupils black and not red? They’re meant to be red. And what strange things did you see for you to ask me that question?”
Simon furrowed his brows slightly in contemplation as to if he should tell her about the cracks.
He looked at her and gave a response.
“I don’t know why the rings are black and red. It became that colour when I combined both techniques.”
Lilith frowned deeply. “That’s strange. It should never have changed to black regardless of a successful combination.”
Simon tilted his head curiously.
“Is there a reason why you’re so confident?”
Lilith scoffed and folded her arms.
“It’s none of your business.”
Simon’s lips twitched, but he wisely chose not to respond to that. He changed the conversation.
“As for what I saw, I saw cracks in the air.”
He decided to tell Lilith and see if she knew something about it.
The cracks were extremely strange, and no matter how hard he thought about them, none of his guesses made any sense.
So he decided to take a risk and expose the cracks to Lilith.
If Lilith knew about it, she might tell him what they were.
If she had no knowledge of those cracks, then he would just have to wait till he stumbles upon the answers to those cracks.
Unfortunately for him, Lilith had a baffled expression after he exposed the cracks.
“Cracks? How can you see cracks in the air? Do you still see them now?”
Simon shook his head. “No. They healed and vanished on their own.”
“Strange.” She mumbled softly, then she gave Simon a strange look.
“Are you sure you didn’t damage your mind while engraving the Hollow Gaze into your eyes?”
