Chapter 248: Heart Daemons
Chapter 248: 248: Heart Daemons
Lilith’s words was like a bucket of water dousing Simon’s flames of anticipation.
Simon did not expect such a quick and instant response from Lilith.
For her to tell him such words when he had not even asked, meant that she was hundred percent certain about what she said.
“Why are you so certain I cannot control cursed energy?” Simon asked with a genuinely curious expression and tone.
“I know how talented you are when it comes to energy control. You’re even more talented than some Daemons whose bloodline increases their energy control, but you cannot control cursed energy.”
Simon was even more intrigued. Lilith knew just how talented he was at energy control, but she was still very certain that he could not control cursed energy?
“Tell me why exactly.” Simon said.
Lilith was silent for a moment, then she spoke.
“If you can recall, I said that cursed energy is produced when a person or creature has an extremely strong negative emotional imprint on the world.”
“And the emotions I mentioned are obsession, hatred, regret, grief, anger, and so on.
Lilith paused and looked at Simon with what could be called… A serious expression.
“Some demons, humans, and even beasts subconsciously emit cursed energy into the air when they have these strong emotions… But for you, you are not emitting any cursed energy.”
Simon raised a brow. “What do you mean?”
Lilith released a soft sigh. “You are cold and the level of control you have over your emotions is higher than average.”
“Because of the fact that you’re a cold individual who rarely shows extreme emotions, you do not emit cursed energy.”
Simon blinked in surprise.
“So, you’re telling me that because I’m cold and calculating, I do not emit cursed energy?”
Lilith nodded. “Yes. You can say that your affinity for cursed energy is close to none. How can you control cursed energy when you have far too much control over your emotions?”
“You don’t rage. You don’t grief. You don’t hate. You’re just cold.”
“Unless you’re a Heart Daemon like that boy, then forget about it.”
Simon frowned slightly and looked at Lilith.
“A Heart Daemon?
Lilith nodded. “Yes.”
’A Heart Daemon? That sounds a lot like heart demons, but heart demons are not real and are merely constructs of the mind and heart.’
’Then what of Heart Daemons? What are they truly? What are their abilities?’
Simon decided to ask his walking library.
“What are Heart Daemons exactly? What are their abilities?”
Lilith immediately rolled her eyes. “I knew you were going to ask. I am not going to tell you because I am a thousand percent certain that you’ll keep on asking me more and more and more questions.”
“I feel like you’re treating me as a walking library.”
“…” Simon blinked innocently, and despite his urge to tell her that he saw her as a walking library, he decided not to.
“Alright. If you’re not going to tell me about Heart Daemons, then just answer these two questions.”
Lilith looked at him with a suspicious gaze. “What questions?”
“Do Heart Daemons only use cursed spirits to fight?”
Lilith shook her head. “It’s a little bit more complicated than that. They can also attack one’s inner heart. That’s all I can say if I don’t want to start explaining too much.”
“They’re called Heart Daemons for a reason.”
Simon nodded in understanding.
“The second question then.”
He paused for a moment, then he spoke.
“You once said that Jorra was related to the Soul Daemon. Does that mean that all Heart Daemons are related to the Soul Daemon?”
Lilith nodded. “Yes. Both the Soul Mirror Demons and the Heart Daemons are related to the Soul Daemon.”
Simon looked down with a thoughtful expression.
“The Soul Daemon seems to be on a whole different league compared to the other Daemons.”
Lilith’s lips curled up slightly. “He was.”
There was silence for some seconds as Simon began to quicken his pace to the Year One Anatomy classroom.
Simon could not help himself from asking another question.
“Is there a ranking for Daemons? I mean a bloodline ranking system.”
Lilith scoffed. “I told you that I’m not answering any other question. You ask too many questions.”
Simon indifferently rolled his eyes. “I have only asked about cursed spirits, cursed energy, and priests. How is that me asking too many questions?”
Lilith harrumphed with folded arms. “You’ve almost gotten to your class, focus on it instead of me.”
Simon calmly shifted his gaze to the building where their anatomy class would hold.
“The ocular technique you want to teach me, let it also have the ability to see cursed spirits.”
Lilith raised a brow. “Greedy much?”
Simon shrugged. “Greed is not a bad thing. How can I have ambitions if they’re not greedy?”
Lilith rolled her eyes, and Simon looked at her curiously.
“Can you stay outside my heart for an indefinite period of time?”
Lilith folded her arms, released a sigh, then rolled her eyes.
“Of course not. I’m using out of the little energy I have to be here.”
Simon raised a brow and was about to ask a question, but Lilith suddenly into a black smoke and entered his left chest.
“No more questions. I’m tired, and I don’t want to be answering your questions anymore.”
Simon blinked at this lazy ancient being, but he shook his head and decided not to think too much about it.
He had actually learned a lot from her in just this short interaction.
’Cursed energy, cursed spirits, priests, more questions about how I died, Heart Daemons, Hemach Daemons, the possibility of a dead Herald, the Soul Daemon, the Soul Mirror Demon and… I think that’s all?’
’It’s still rather surprising that I cannot use cursed energy because of my control over my emotions.’
’But that won’t stop me from making an attempt to control cursed energy… And I even forgot to ask her how demons and humans who can control cursed energy, store their cursed energy.’
’I’ll ask her later.’
Simon paused and looked up, seeing nothing but darkness above.
’All because I killed Thorgan, I’ve been exposed to far more than normal… And things have gotten more dangerous and… interesting.’
Simon shook his head slightly, then he walked to the classroom, and entered.
