Chapter 230 Falling Short
As Ugar’s eyes narrowed, his body grew, releasing a shocking presence. His muscles expanded as her focused more on buffing up his physical power than his mental power.
“I will smite you and decorate my home with yours bones.” The mighty lizardman hissed before dashing forward. His strong legs propelled him at such a speed that he had already arrived in front of Leon in just two seconds, barely giving Leon enough time to react.
Whoosh!
Ugar’s fist that was covered in a black flame swiped by Leon’s head as Leon ducked to dodge the punch, but he was immediately met with a knee to his chest that sent him flying back.
“Ugh!” Leon grunted as he landed on the ground. He immediately rolled over to avoid the stomp from Ugar that would have done some serious damage to his skull, while retaliating with an earth spike that jutted up and stabbed into Ugar’s foot.
The lizardman hissed in anger and pain, but paid no attention to its injuries. Instead, it conjured multiple massive fireballs that blew up the surrounding area, sending shockwaves that pushed Leon around. He did not let the spells dive right into the range of Leon’s domain. The few that had done so had instantly lost over half of their initial power, which made them weak enough for Leon to fend off easily.
The shockwaves from the explosions destabilized Leon enough for Ugar to get in a good kick to the side, sending Leon flying away. Then his strong, bulky legs bunched up, before exploding with an impressive strength that sent his rocketing right after Leon.
Whoosh!
Ugar appeared above Leon and delivered a roundhouse kick to Leon’s chest, sending Leon slamming down into the ground. He spun around, using Wind magic to negate his momentum, while using Water magic to conjure an Ice Spear in his hand and stab down with it, intending to crush Leon’s chest.
“Screw off!” Leon growled and a wave of dark purple mana burst out of him. The mana wrapped around Ugar’s body, making him weightless to the point where he was unable to control himself. The change had been so sudden that he did not know what to do for the first few moments. But those sparse moment were enough for Leon to retaliate.
The Obsidian Skeleton appeared beside Ugar, eyes ablaze with purple fire, then he unleashed a flurry of punches, that were backed by powerful Fire and Wind magic, onto Ugar’s body, peppering him from head to toe.
Bang! Bang! Bang!πΈπ½π xt.ππͺ
The sound of explosions resounded all over the floor as Leon utilized his strongest magic skill, Fire magic. He then reinforced his spells with Wind magic, something he had learnt how to do from some of the magic theory books that Michael had given him. It enhanced the explosive effects of the fire, while making it burn hotter and hotter.
“GET AWAY FROM ME!!!” Ugar shouted and exploded with power. A powerful gust of wind sent Leon spiraling away from Ugar, but he still managed to keep himself in the air, stopping a dozen meters away from the angry lizardman.
The smoke from the explosions cleared away, revealing Ugar, with his body charred and bloody from the attacks that Leon had inflicted on him.
“I will make you PAY!!!” With that declaration, Ugar wrapped his body up in wind magic, tearing away the shackles of Leon’s Gravity magic. He shot toward Leon, his tail whipping through the air as he flew at an insane speed, so fast that Leon was not able to see him clearly.
Leon quickly erected a wind barrier around him and layered it with a gravity barrier, just in time for Ugar to throw a punch at him. The wind barrier was dispelled, but the gravity barrier was much tougher to destroy after much of Ugar’s momentum had been drained by the wind barrier.
Leon took advantage of the lull in Ugar’s movements to strike. Like a snake, the dark purple mana of the gravity barrier wrapped around Ugar’s arm, holding him in place. Leon focused a large amount of attention on making sure that Ugar could not break through the mana in a short period of time. The after that, he dashed to Ugar’s side with his sword in his hand. He wanted to end this as quickly as possible.
But of course, Ugar was not easy to defeat.
Ugar’s tail whipped out, slapping against the flat of Leon’s sword. The power behind the hit cancelled all of Leon’s momentum, while pushing him back. But that was not what was on Leon’s mind after that hit.
Crack!
A cracking sound alarmed Leon as the sword that had been made out of the Dark Pill gained a brand new crack. Leon froze for a moment in shock as this happened. Never before had the sword or any weapon made from the Dark Pill cracked. Its durability was just too good.
This seemed to be a wake up call for Leon as he recalled that the Dark Pill was part of the Abyss Set, the equipment set that came with the Dark Abyss Dungeon.
Normally, the Abyss Set was supposed to be a C rank set of equipment, but because Leon had acquired the Dungeon, as well as Abyssus, the Dungeon Consciousness, the Abyss Set could grow alongside the dungeon.
However, after all this time, the Dark Abyss Dungeon was still a Mid B rank dungeon. Abyssus had absorbed many resources that had been gotten from the treasuries of boss rooms in the Tower of Trials to push his strength further, but his growth remained slower then Leon’s, and the Abyss Set was falling behind in terms of strength.
Now, this shortage in strength was coming back to bite Leon in the backside.
“This is bad.” Leon muttered under his breath. If the sword broke, then he would have to use another weapon. He had many good weapons that he had gotten through Divinity’s Bout, but he was rather attached to the sword from the Abyss Set.
“I guess I just have to change my equipment set, then.” Leon said grimly.
