Sienna did not have time to stay upstairs. Zachary was leaving for another city on a business trip, and she wanted to walk him to his car.

After a few more minutes, the nausea finally eased enough for her to move around without feeling as though she might be sick again.

She quickly adjusted her appearance, checked her face in the mirror, and made sure she looked fresh. She didn’t want to look unwell and make her husband worry, especially with a business trip ahead of him.

Taking a calm, steadying breath, Sienna left the master bedroom and hurried down to the first floor, fully focused on her day and completely unaware that the strange nausea she had been experiencing wasn’t food poisoning at all.

When Sienna arrived in the living room, seeing Zachary and Skylar deep in conversation about basketball made her feel much better. A warm smile spread across her lips as she walked over and joined them.

“What were you two talking about that made you not even notice me?”

Sienna’s voice immediately made Zachary and Skylar stop talking and turn toward her. Skylar’s warm and glad smile was so broad it almost reached his eyes as he looked at her, and in that gaze, the trace of his concern for her was clear.

“Mom, glad you’re here. Why did you take so long to come downstairs? You made me worried, and I almost went upstairs to check on you.”

Hearing how worried her son had been about her, Sienna couldn’t help but smile. She sat down on the other side of Zachary and tilted her head toward Skylar.

“Sweetheart, thank you. Mommy was just having a little trouble finding a gift for your dad.”

Zachary, who was sitting between Sienna and Skylar, was taken aback by her words. He turned to look at her with surprise. “A gift for me?”

“Hhmm…” Sienna smiled, reached into her pocket, and pulled out a small black box. She held it out to him. “This is for you. I hope you like it.”

Confused by the sudden gift, especially since it wasn’t his birthday or any other special occasion, Zachary took the box from her. He looked at it briefly before turning his attention back to Sienna.

“A gift for me?” he asked. When Sienna nodded with a meaningful smile, he looked even more curious. “For what occasion?” he asked again.

“For being such a great help in promoting my business.”

Zachary couldn’t help smiling widely when he finally heard her reason. Something about the simple gesture touched him more than he expected. Knowing that she had thought about him and prepared something specifically for him made the gift feel much more meaningful.

“Open it quickly,” Sienna urged when she realized he needed to leave soon. She glanced at him before adding, “…you need to go now too, right?”

Zachary opened the box and was immediately surprised to see a pair of elegant golden cufflinks inside, each one engraved with his initials. He picked them up carefully, his expression softening as he looked at the gift.

“This is so beautiful, my love. When did you prepare this?”

“A few days ago. I designed it myself and asked the jewelry shop to make it just for you,” Sienna explained proudly. Although the cufflinks weren’t nearly as expensive as the gifts Zachary usually gave her, she was still happy to give him something she designed and that he could wear regularly. More than the price, she liked knowing that he would carry a small reminder of her with him whenever he wore them.

“The fact that you designed it yourself makes this priceless,” Zachary said as he immediately put them on. He admired the cufflinks for a moment before looking back at her. “I’ll treasure this one, my love.”

“I’m relieved that you like it.” Sienna smiled even wider, unable to hide how happy she was to see his reaction.

Zachary didn’t reply. Instead, he leaned toward her and pulled her gently into his arms. He lowered his head and kissed her cheek lovingly, holding her for a moment as though he didn’t want to let go just yet.

Their affectionate moment, however, was interrupted by Skylar’s voice from behind them.

“Mom, do I get a gift too?”

Sienna laughed softly and gave Zachary a light push before turning to look at their son. “Yes, Sweetheart. Of course I prepared something for you too. But we can check it later, okay? Your daddy needs to go now.”

“Okay, Mommy…”

The three of them continued talking briefly, with Skylar asking a few questions about his gift. At the same time, Zachary reminded him to behave and always listen to his mother.

Their conversation was light and comfortable, and Sienna enjoyed the small family moment before they finally walked Zachary outside to his car.

Zachary’s driver was already waiting for him. Before getting into the car, he turned toward Sienna and Skylar and smiled.

“Take care of Mommy for me,” he told Skylar while embracing him.

“I will, Daddy,” Skylar replied confidently.

Sienna smiled as she stepped closer to Zachary. “Have a safe trip. Call me when you arrive.”

“I will.” Zachary reached for her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “And you should rest. Don’t overdo anything while I’m gone.”

“I know. You don’t have to worry so much.”

“I’ll try,” he said with a small smile, making her laugh.

He leaned down and kissed her lips before giving Skylar another quick hug. Then he finally got into the car.

Sienna and Skylar stood side by side as they watched the vehicle slowly leave the house.

They continued waving until the car had disappeared from view. Only then did Skylar lower his hand and turn toward his mother.

“I’m going back to my room, Mom.”

“Okay, sweetheart…”

Sienna smiled as she watched him go, then walked to her bedroom.

The moment she stepped inside, she felt the quietness of the room settle around her. Although she no longer felt as nauseous as she had earlier, she couldn’t help wondering if the sensation might return.

For a moment, she considered seeing a doctor just to make sure everything was fine.

The thought lingered in her mind as she sat on the edge of the bed, but after thinking about it for a while, she decided that there was no need to rush. She still had a slight headache, and perhaps what she needed most was simply more rest.
