Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Maya Confesses Again In front Of Everyone

Maya was still sleeping on the bed due to the medication she took,Flora stood close to her patting her hair like a princess. Simon sat uncomfortably on the couch,he looked so worried ,his breathing fast. His shirt were almost lose on his body.

For ten minutes, nobody talked. The machine was beeping.

Then Maya’s finger moved.

Simon saw it first.

"Ma’am... ma’am look," Simon whispered.

Flora turned.

Maya’s eyes opened slowly. She was awake.

Flora and Simon were surprised to see Maya wake up. Both of them rushed to the bed at the same time.

"Maya? Maya can you hear me?" Simon said, holding her hand.

Maya looked at Simon, then looked at Flora. Her eyes were red.

Flora touched her shoulder gently. "Thank God. You are awake. Let me call the doctor. Don’t move."

She tried the emergency button but it was not connecting, she walked very fast out of the room to call the doctor. She tried to keep her composure, but her body was in a haste to call the doctor.

Simon was left with Maya in the room.

"Maya, you scared us," Simon said, trying to calm her.

But Maya was not calm. She started crying. Not small crying. Serious tears. Tears were falling down her cheeks like water.

"Maya, why are you crying? Does your head still pain you?" Simon asked. He was trying to calm her down, cleaning her tears with his hand. "Tell me, what is it?"

Maya was shaking. She was holding Simon’s shirt tight.

Two minutes later, Flora came inside the room with a doctor and two nurses.

When they entered, everyone was shocked.

Maya was seriously in tears. She was crying loudly on the hospital bed. Simon sat on the bed, trying to calm her down."Maya, calm down, calm down please."

"Maya, what happened? Why are you crying like this? Are you feeling pain in your head?" The doctor asked, rushing to check the machine.

Maya shook her head.

Flora drew closer to her, she felt uneasy but maintained stillness.

"Maya, I am here. Tell me what is wrong. The doctor is here. Talk to us," Flora said.

Maya looked at everyone in the room. The doctor, the two nurses, Flora, and Simon.

Then she looked at Simon with tears.

"I am sick because of Simon," Maya said.

Everyone in the room was silent.

Simon was shocked. "Maya? What do you mean?"

Maya continued crying. "I am sick because of Simon. I cannot help it again. I have tried to get hold of myself but I keep growing weak everyday."

Flora felt disappointed by her actions ,but her eyes were soft. She did not interrupt. She let Maya talk.

Maya held Simon’s hand tighter. Her tears were now too much.

"Simon, I love you," she said. " Ever Since you started working in the house, I have loved you. But you... you don’t notice me. I see how you look at my mother. I see how you talk to my mother. I know you like my mother, not me.It is killing me. I have been having several headaches,i think of you every night. I cannot sleep. I try to get hold of myself, but I cannot."

Simon was frozen. He did not see this coming, even in the presence of a doctor and nurses , Maya cannot hold back her feelings,I don’t know if I should deny or accept reality? No, I can’t,Flora saved me and if loving her is my only crime, i don’t mind being a criminal,I won’t give up on the love I have for her,even if the world surfaces with trailer loads of Maya,wailing, crying and yelling,I won’t give up on Flora. He thought

"Maya, no," Simon said softly, still calming her down, Maya, you should not worry yourself. Please , you need to be strong,get hold of yourself , you should not be like this..."

"No!" Maya shouted with tears. "You love my mother! She is beautiful and rich right? I am just a small girl. But the truth is,I have never loved any man before. Maybe my mother was right,I don’t have a degree yet,no one wants me,I am dumb and stupid,I can’t focus on my studies,yes I can never, with this mindset,I cannot help it again."

The doctor and the two nurses looked at each other. They were shocked to hear such confession in a hospital. They had never seen a patient cry like this . They excuse the three because it’s obvious, Maya ’s case is not around the hospital walls.

Flora watched Maya closely and took a deep breath.

Flora knew what it takes to be a woman. She had learned it long before she became a billionaire’s wife. During her younger days, she was a beautiful woman with a heart full of love and dreams. She understood her feelings and know how helpless she feels. But why Simon ,her driver? She never wanted to get upset over her attitude because Maya has changed completely ever since her father’s death. She loved her father more and listens to him.

However ,such is life, everyday we see new things.

Few years ago, she had loved and dated several men before meeting her late husband. But she was never this dumb like Maya.

She prioritized herself first and know exactly when to walk away.

She remembered when she dated a man who was into oil and gas.

"He had no knowledge of the business. I taught him everything with what I learned in business school. After being with him for years, he left me for a woman in Nigeria and I wasn’t even aware. But I had to move on, because my destiny was not tied in his hands."

"Men know what they are doing and can tell when a woman is desperate."

"Imagine, Maya is assuming my driver is in love with me because I hired a handsome, intelligent driver. Does she expect a man to close his eyes to beauty? Darwin spoilt this girl when he was alive, I knew it, but now it has become worse."

She finally stepped forward, sat on the other side of Maya’s bed, and held Maya’s other hand. Her voice was still calm, but emotional.

"Maya, listen to me," Flora said like a boss and like a mother. "You are not weak. You are strong. You are sick because you kept this inside. Now you have said it. Headaches will go. Simon is here. I am here. No one will judge you. But you must get hold of yourself. You must be strong for yourself."

Maya was still crying, holding only Simon. She looked weak with shaky hands.

And Simon, with wetness in his own eyes, kept calming her down, while Flora, still composed looked at both of them with deep pain.

Flora knew Simon likes her, but she would never allow him to know that she has discovered his feelings. He has proven beyond reasonable doubt that his love was real. Even when her daughter cried because of him, Simon could not even lie or say he does not love her mother.

Maya already confessed her feelings to him twice, yet Simon remained unmoved. He was not willing to pretend to love her just to make her happy. His heart has stiffened and nothing seemed strong enough to change his mind.

But what was am i supposed to do now?

Should i fire him and end everything before it destroys my relationship with Maya? The thought alone made her chest tighten.

She knew that if she sent Simon away, she will regret it for the rest of her life. He brought something back into her life that she thought had died with her husband. He made her feel loved and protected without asking her to become someone else.

Could this be her chance to love and be loved again, but she is too afraid to accept it?

Flora walked to the window, staring at the beautiful sky above.

"What if Maya never forgives me?" she whispered.

She can face business rivals, lawyers, and enemies without fear, but this situation was different.

"How can my own daughter lose her love and respect for me forever because of a man, A driver working for me! No God forbid!I reject it". She said and immediately the feeling died instantly.
