The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1309 - 1249: Humans Are Innately Selfish
"Can we get two life vests?" Sienna Johnson asked.
Lith’s lips twitched, what was going through her mind? Telling them to jump into the sea was to let them die; giving them life vests would leave them in a fate "worse than death."
Lith mocked, "Should I also give you a small boat and prepare food and water for you?"
Sienna Johnson replied earnestly, "That would be ideal."
Lith truly wanted to kick this woman off the ship, "Who do you think you are? Just relying on the master’s favor, but now the master doesn’t want you anymore, and you’re dead meat."
"I think Night Owl was just saying things in anger, and you’re foolish to take him seriously."
"..."
"Do you believe that if I actually drown, Night Owl will hold you accountable?" Sienna Johnson took two life vests herself, putting one on her and the other on Victoria Logan.
Seeing Victoria Logan still crying, she said, "Orienta has a saying, ’put oneself in a situation of certain death to achieve rebirth.’ Maybe this is our way out."
She spoke using the Sileria City dialect, only they could understand.
Kalare is no safer than the Ocean.
Sienna Johnson was about to dive into the sea with Victoria Logan when a man approached Lith and whispered a few words in her ear.
Lith looked at Sienna Johnson with eyes seething with anger, Sienna Johnson laughed, "What did he say? Did I guess correctly?"
With a black face, Lith threw a rope onto the life vests and said, "There are no sharks in this sea, but twenty nautical miles ahead, there are sharks.
Pray to Allah that your master calms down before you meet the sharks, and you can get back on the ship."
"Thank you for the warning."
Sienna Johnson carefully helped Victoria Logan down; her injured leg immersed in seawater felt like salt on the wound, making Sienna’s face go pale.
"Are you okay?"
"I’m fine, just consider it disinfection for the wound."
Victoria Logan said dejectedly, "What are we going to do?"
The two of them had life vests tied to the ship with a rope, being dragged along by the big boat.
"Do you see that thick fog ahead?"
Victoria Logan looked where Sienna Johnson’s gaze pointed and indeed saw a thick fog far away, like a cloud at the horizon.
"That’s strange, why is there fog there?"
"Because inside the fog is a little island; special air pressure keeps it shrouded in fog all year round."
Adrian Desmond had taken her there before.
That year, she was forcibly taken to Unnamed Island by Adrian Desmond; the man, to boast, showed her his treasure, which was on that island.
That year, to distract Adrian Desmond, she spread news about the island’s location and the treasure while escaping; she didn’t know if anyone inhabited the island now.
"But it’s so far, can we swim there?"
"Don’t you see we’re going with the current? We don’t need strength; as long as we have life vests, the current will take us there. Once near the island, we’ll swim hard."
Before then, Night Owl’s anger must not subside.
She didn’t want to follow Night Owl to that dreadful place in Kalare; it was more dangerous with Night Owl around.
Seeing her confidence, Victoria Logan felt more assured.
Sienna Johnson calculated well, but man proposes, God disposes; the weather at sea changes in an instant.
Earlier, it was clear with no clouds; now, it’s overcast like it’s about to storm.
The waves in the ocean became turbulent; Sienna suddenly recalled the scene when she fell into the sea years ago, but she didn’t know whether Adrian Desmond would appear and rescue her again.
"Senior Sienna, what should we do now?"
From afar, Sienna Johnson saw movement on the ship; decisively, she took out a folding fruit knife from her pocket, cut the rope, and used the remaining rope to bind the two life vests together.
"Remember, hold onto the life vest tight. Once you don’t have it, you’re done for." Sienna spoke heavily, grabbing Victoria’s hand.
Victoria Logan, puzzled, asked, "Night Owl likes you; he won’t let you drown. He’ll definitely save you, so why don’t you want to?"
"Because going to Kalare is more dangerous."
From afar, Sienna Johnson saw several people jumping into the sea, one of them being Night Owl; they desperately swam toward them, but the waves were too strong, and the person seemed like a tiny ant swept away.
"Look, is that a shark? There... there..." Victoria Logan said fearfully.
There were fins swiftly swimming across the sea surface; Victoria remembered Lith mentioning there were sharks.
Sienna Johnson saw it too; the fins truly resembled those of a shark, prompting her to swim toward the island desperately.
The island seemed like a distant mirage—apparently close yet unreachably distant.
"Senior Sienna, they’re swimming over, they’re coming..."
"Don’t worry, it’s okay, don’t be afraid..." Sienna reassured Victoria, though she too was terrified inside.
At this moment, she dearly hoped Adrian Desmond would appear as before and rescue her from the sea; she felt fragile, helpless, and lost.
More fins appeared on the surface, increasing Victoria’s fear as she glanced at Sienna’s arms, realizing they were bleeding.
"Senior Sienna, your arms are bleeding..."
"Hmm."
Victoria Logan said, "Sharks are most sensitive to the scent of blood..."
Sienna Johnson looked at Victoria, eyes narrowed, "What do you mean?"
"I’m sorry, I don’t want to die." Victoria Logan said softly.
"So what?" Sienna coldly asked.
"I’m sorry!" Victoria Logan apologized fervently.
Though Victoria Logan said nothing more, her expression said it all: Sienna Johnson knew what she meant.
"You want me to distract the sharks, don’t you?"
"I just want to live; I don’t want my baby not experiencing a glimpse of this world."
"I understand."
In truth, staying together had a better chance of survival; Victoria was pregnant, but she didn’t see it that way.
Victoria thought her bleeding attracted the sharks, she was a burden.
"Sorry, Senior Sienna..." Victoria cried.
Sienna Johnson responded, "It’s only natural to think of oneself; I’m not blaming you."
"..."
"I hope you get rescued safely; I wish your baby a safe birth." Sienna Johnson blessed Victoria, bearing no resentment against her, prompting deeper guilt in Victoria.
