The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1274 - 1214: Making a Loving Breakfast for Dad
After dinner, Adrian Desmond wanted to give Curly a bath, but Curly refused to let her father bathe her.
She declared with righteous indignation that she was a grown woman now, and boys shouldn’t see her body. Adrian, as her father, felt quite melancholic.
"I’m your dad," Adrian looked at the "grown woman" in front of him, emphasizing their special relationship.
Grown woman?
Adrian looked at this little kid with no breasts and no butt, still with baby fat, and felt quite speechless.
"Dad is also a boy!" Curly glanced at Adrian and said.
"Do you know how to bathe yourself?"
"Yes! I’ve learned a lot of things now. Dad, I can even cook now. Tomorrow, I’ll make breakfast for you.
Dad, what do you want to eat?" Curly asked proudly.
"Whatever you make, dad will like it."
"Then I’ll make sandwiches for you tomorrow."
"Alright."
Curly entered the bathroom, looked at her father standing at the doorway, closed the bathroom door, and even locked it from the inside.
Adrian heard the click of the lock and felt thoroughly frustrated. He was her biological father, what was she guarding herself against?
"Dad, is it okay to add cheese and shredded meat to the ham?"
"It’s okay." Adrian would eat whatever Curly made.
"Then I’ll wake up early tomorrow to make it for you."
"Don’t you have to go to class tomorrow? Can you get up?"
"Of course." After a pause, Curly continued, "Dad, can you stop underestimating people?"
"When have I underestimated you?"
Adrian stood at the bathroom door, listening to the sound of rushing water inside, feeling uneasy. In Adrian’s eyes, Curly was still that chubby, lively, and adorable three-year-old child.
"Curly, be careful not to slip."
"Got it, Dad. I’m not a kid anymore."
"In dad’s eyes, you’ll always be a child."
Adrian felt quite hurt. His daughter growing up and not needing him was a feeling that made him uncomfortable.
Curly finished her bath, wrapped in a white bunny bathrobe, and stepped out of the bathroom, her freshly washed face rosy, looking exceptionally cute.
"Dad, I’m done, you go bathe."
Adrian looked her over, relieved to see she hadn’t slipped or gotten hurt.
"I’ll go bathe, you play some games."
"I have to review my lessons, there’s new text to learn tomorrow."
Curly didn’t much like studying, but her mom said learning was her duty, just as adults must work.
"Go ahead, don’t overdo it."
"Dad, Orienta’s primary school students are so unlucky, having so much homework every day. Could you talk to my teacher, ask them to lessen my burden?"
"Alright."
"Thank you, Dad." Curly was delighted.
"But your grades must remain above average; if they get too poor, both of us will be scolded by your mom."
"Hmm." Curly’s voice dropped.
Her mom was lost, she wanted her mom to scold her, but her mom wouldn’t anymore.
Adrian stroked Curly’s head and said, "Dad will bring mom back."
"Hmm, Curly will be a good child, and I’ll take care of the younger siblings."
"Good girl!"
Adrian went to shower, noticing his daughter had washed her little panties and hung them up to dry, tossed the dirty clothes in the basket, suddenly feeling like Curly had grown up.
If Sienna Johnson saw Curly being so sensible, she’d be overjoyed. Unfortunately, Sienna had been kidnapped by that awful Night Owl.
...
Adrian had insomnia and only fell asleep when it was nearly dawn.
Curly woke up early, seeing her father still asleep, tiptoed to change, wash up, and head to the kitchen to make breakfast for her father.
George went to wake her in the morning, found her not in her bedroom, asked the Servant, and learned Curly was in the kitchen making breakfast.
"Morning, Curly."
"Morning."
Curly, short in height, stood on a small stool with a big vegetable knife, chopping veggies, which scared George terribly.
"You’ll cut your hand." George went up to try to grab the knife from Curly.
"Don’t move!" Curly shouted, and George, seeing the knife in her hand, really didn’t dare to move recklessly.
"I won’t cut my hand, I know how to chop vegetables."
"Can’t the Servant make breakfast?"
Curly said, "Can what the Servant makes be the same as what I make? My dad needs to eat what I make myself."
Ham sandwiches, Sienna Johnson had taught her, were simple: just layer toast bread, ham, and egg.
Sienna once tried teaching Curly to cook, Curly didn’t like to learn, her mother only knew this ham sandwich.
She now wanted to learn, but couldn’t find mom.
"Are you upset?" George noticed this; Curly usually talked a lot, but lately hadn’t been chatty.
"Try having your mom lost." Curly said grumpily.
"Dad will bring mom back."
"Hmm."
George washed his hands, saying, "I’ll help you!"
"You beat the eggs in the mold."
"Oh, okay."
Even though it was just simple egg beating, George, who had never cooked, didn’t know how, ending up breaking the eggs and getting shell pieces in them.
Seeing the broken eggshells inside, unsure if the eggs were sanitary, to be safe, he dumped them in the trash, got a new egg, and had the same issue.
When Curly finished slicing the ham thinly, she turned and saw George dumping eggs into the trash.
"George, what are you doing?"
Curly grabbed the mold from George’s hand, seeing how many eggshells were in the eggs, squinting her eyes in disappointment, "George, you can’t even beat an egg?"
"Sorry, I’ve never done it before!"
Curly saw the trash full of broken eggs, getting angry, "George, I’m telling you, I will never marry a boy who can’t even cook!"
"..."
"You’re crossed off my husband candidate list!"
George: ...
Curly went back to the fridge and took out three eggs; this time she personally beat them, moving slowly but without getting shells in the mold.
George asked, "Who else is on your husband candidate list?"
"Many!"
"Any better than me?"
"You’re not good at all! Can’t even handle an egg!"
George: ...
...
Adrian woke up to find it already broad daylight. He glanced at the clock on the bedside table and discovered it was already half past eight.
He always got up at six o’clock for a run, yet he woke up late today.
"Curly?"
He touched Curly’s place, and it was already cool, looks like she woke a long time ago.
Adrian, usually alert, didn’t even notice when his daughter woke up.
Adrian sat up, changed out of his pajamas, and went out to find Curly.
