Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Re-entering Bloody City

In the Dungeon Hall, before the Teleportation Gate to the Bloody City Dungeon.

To avoid trouble after his face had been seen by many the day before, Yu Zhun arrived at the Teleportation Gate today wearing his secondary appearance.

Liu Yu was still the one responsible for maintaining the Teleportation Gate. Knowing that the Godslayer guild would attract a lot of attention recently and that lingering could easily bring trouble, he finished the calibrations at top speed upon seeing Yu Zhun and his companion arrive, then nodded at them.

"Thank you," Yu Zhun expressed his gratitude before stepping shoulder-to-shoulder with Ji Xiaoyu into the Teleportation Gate.

After a dizzying spin, the familiar blood-red mist filled their vision.

"So this is the Bloody City?" Ji Xiaoyu looked around curiously. She wasn’t entirely unfamiliar with the place; knowing they were coming today, she had done her homework in advance and discussed the Dungeon’s mechanics with her grandfather. However, since the player who had achieved the perfect first clear of the Bloody City was standing right next to her, she naturally wouldn’t overstep her bounds. "What do we do next?"

"First, we pull the monsters over." Yu Zhun skillfully smashed a blood vial on the ground, allowing the stench of blood to spread rapidly. At the same time, he pulled out a megaphone.

A second later, an earth-shattering voice blasted through the device.

"My name is Yu Zhun. Stupid Blood Corpses, come face your deaths immediately!"

"My name is Yu Zhun. Stupid..."

Today’s Yu Zhun was no longer the Yu Zhun of yesterday! He was now holding an upgraded megaphone capable of recording and looping his voice!

Ji Xiaoyu was utterly dumbfounded. What on earth was this absolute madman doing?! There were over sixty Blood Corpses in the first phase of the Dungeon. If he called them all over, wouldn’t the two of them drown in the mob? Even a full-sized raiding party with a perfectly balanced Profession composition wouldn’t dare act so recklessly. Not to mention, they only had one Assassin and one Mage.

Wait a minute... An Assassin and a Mage?!

Ji Xiaoyu’s expression instantly warped into pure horror. He couldn’t possibly expect her to act as the frontline tank to buy time for the Assassin’s Lurking, could he?

[Ordinary Blood Corpse (Lv15)]

[Attributes:

Life Value: 18000

Mana: 540

Physical Attack: 900

Magic Attack: 0

Physical Defense: 270

Magic Defense: 270]

Nine hundred Physical Attack... After seeing the Blood Corpse’s attributes clearly, the light faded from Ji Xiaoyu’s eyes, leaving her looking like a completely lifeless husk. Her Armor provided bonus Life Value and Mana, while her accessories boosted Mana and Magic Attack. Her Physical Defense was a meager 200, and her Life Value barely broke three thousand...

Watching the agitated, hideous Blood Corpses stumble and charge toward them, she could already picture herself being swallowed whole by the swarm. She screamed inwardly, "Don’t come over here!!!"

Just as Ji Xiaoyu was at a total loss, Yu Zhun stepped forward. His back, marching fearlessly toward the tide of Blood Corpses, looked so...

"Stop zoning out, stand back, and throw your skills to help clear the mobs," he instructed.

"Oh, right..." Snapping back to reality, Ji Xiaoyu thrust her Magic Staff forward. A dazzling, searing cluster of fiery Light ignited upon the gemstone at its tip. With a forceful swing, she hurled the cluster toward the rear of the Blood Corpse horde, where it instantly exploded into a massive, blinding sphere of flames.

Mage Skill: Blast Flame!

As she cast her skill, Ji Xiaoyu looked worriedly at Yu Zhun, who had already clashed head-on with the Blood Corpses. As a melee Profession, an Assassin wasn’t as squishy as a Mage, but they definitely weren’t built to be meat shields either. She was afraid he would...

[Life Value +900]

[Life Value +900]

[Life Value +900]

Seeing the green text continuously popping up above Yu Zhun’s head as he was swarmed by Blood Corpses, along with a shield that grew thicker by the second, Ji Xiaoyu was instantly dumbfounded. Wait... Huh? Was she seeing things? Was this really an Assassin?! Even a pure tank-oriented Warrior wouldn’t be this absurd!

Ignoring Ji Xiaoyu’s shock, Yu Zhun swept his gaze over the area she had just attacked and quickly spotted a patch of Blood Corpses with depleted health bars. That single strike had actually shaved off a quarter of the Blood Corpses’ Life Value, dealing over 4,000 points of damage—and it was an area-of-effect skill to boot.

"Your damage is quite high," Yu Zhun noted in surprise.

"My... my Talent is the S-rank Arcane Requiem," Ji Xiaoyu replied instinctively, still in a daze. "It grants +100% Magic Attack, and every attack deals an additional instance of equal damage."

"...Impressive," Yu Zhun couldn’t help but marvel. As expected of an S-rank Talent. This level of power... was only a tiny bit worse than Open and Aboveboard.

Having originally expected the wealthy girl to be completely useless, Yu Zhun’s opinion of her instantly changed. "Keep throwing your skills. Let’s finish this quickly."

"Oh, right! Okay!" Ji Xiaoyu nodded vigorously, hurling her four skills into the pile of Blood Corpses as if they cost zero Mana. Since party members couldn’t damage each other, she didn’t have to worry about hitting Yu Zhun in the middle of the horde. Though her aim was nothing to write home about, the damage was remarkably impressive.

A short while later, the two of them had completely cleared the street of Blood Corpses.

The number of players in a Dungeon affected experience points gained; for every additional party member, total experience increased by 10%. Before entering, Yu Zhun had already agreed with Ji Xiaoyu that the extra 10% would go to her. She had originally harbored some minor complaints about this arrangement, but after witnessing Yu Zhun’s insanely overpowered performance, those grievances vanished completely.

She was totally getting carried through this Dungeon!

"Let’s go straight to the mall!" Yu Zhun stowed the megaphone and waved at Ji Xiaoyu. The two of them rushed toward the shopping mall at top speed.

"Wait!" Passing by the tailor shop, Ji Xiaoyu pointed at it. "Aren’t we going in to drink some water?"

"That water is undrinkable." Yu Zhun glanced at the tailor shop before quickly looking away. "After we defeat the Blood Corpse King, the final boss is right in there."

"I see," Ji Xiaoyu realized. When she was chatting with her grandfather yesterday, he had also mentioned that there might be a trap in the tailor shop. She just hadn’t expected it to be like this.

After a Dungeon was perfectly cleared, the attributes of all monsters within it decreased by 10%. This applied to the Blood Corpses they had just fought, as well as any other monsters they would encounter later.

After swiftly clearing out the trash mobs in the mall and at the gallows, the Blood Corpse King arrived right on time at the five-minute mark.

"No wonder the guild master wanted me to evacuate first." Looking at the Heavy Hammer Blood Corpse King’s status panel—boasting a massive 72,000 Life Value and its third skill that struck the entire field with Indifference—Ji Xiaoyu revealed a solemn expression. She had already retreated out of the plaza and could only vaguely make out the boss’s silhouette. "This boss could one-shot me with a single skill..."

BOOM!!!

The Blood Corpse King crashed heavily to the ground.

Ji Xiaoyu was utterly stunned. Staring at Yu Zhun as he quickly jogged back toward her, her jaw dropped. Wait a minute... She hadn’t even finished her sentence, and he had already killed the boss?! Was this kind of damage even logically possible?!

"Let’s go," Yu Zhun said, patting Ji Xiaoyu on the shoulder.

Hmm... very smooth.

Earlier, when he faced the Guard Captain, he hadn’t even used his Talent. Relying on his three-thousand-plus Physical Attack combined with Ji Xiaoyu’s Magic damage, he had taken it down rapidly. However, against the Blood Corpse King, he decided not to waste any time.

"Let’s go meet the final boss."

"Okay!" Reinvigorated, Ji Xiaoyu followed Yu Zhun all the way back.

Eventually, the two stood before the tailor shop. The establishment remained clean and tidy, completely out of place amidst the desolate, dilapidated streets around it.

Yu Zhun took a deep breath and stepped inside.

He thought, "Little Brother, we meet again!"
