“Sa! Las!”

Standing amidst the crowd in the plaza, Yu Zhun, who had been preparing to strike at the Second City Lord during the chaos, now had a face that was green with horror and rage.

He absolutely never expected Salas to create a disturbance in such a manner. He decided to forget about it and focus on killing his target first.

Watching the upper echelon of Red Cloud City rapidly evacuating due to the sudden, violent death of the Third City Lord, Yu Zhun knew he didn’t have much time left.

[Swift Step], activate!

Yu Zhun’s body shot forward like an arrow. He wove and darted through the crowd, the edge of his blade aimed straight at the Second City Lord. Sensing something, the retreating Second City Lord quickly turned his head. Upon seeing Yu Zhun, a look of shock and fury appeared on his face.

Without even checking the opponent’s stat panel, Yu Zhun thrust out [Nether’s Sigh], stabbing right into the man’s chest.

“I, Yu Zhun, will kill you!”

A burst of blood erupted from the Second City Lord’s chest. With a look of sheer disbelief, he crashed to the ground. Yu Zhun then turned to look at the Fourth City Lord, Sosha, who was standing there with an expression of shock and confusion.

“You, go home.”

“You…” Sosha’s expression shifted rapidly. “No! I…”

“You will die!” Yu Zhun ruthlessly interrupted Sosha. “I’ll do it.”

Sosha froze, his gaze toward Yu Zhun becoming complex. “You… know?”

Yu Zhun ignored him and turned to leave. He held his breath until he had evacuated the plaza, finally letting out an uncontrollable dry heave.

“Guild Leader, what’s wrong with you?”

Ji Xiaoyu and the other two, who had been waiting here for a while, gave him odd looks. They had already preemptively finished killing the Boss, the Red Ghost Commander. However, they didn’t bring the [Red People] into Red Cloud City; instead, they persuaded Lomon to temporarily settle everyone outside the city, and then they found an opportunity to slip in.

“It’s nothing.” Yu Zhun greedily inhaled a breath of fresh air, feeling as if he had just survived a disaster.

Salas and Sheila were rushing over from the other side at top speed.

“G-Guild Leader!” Salas looked incredibly awkward. “If I said that was an accident, would you believe me?”

“I’ll settle the score with you when we get back.” Yu Zhun glared at Salas, then turned to look at the towering Great City Lord’s Mansion not far away. “Let’s go. Time to meet our employer.”

“Employer?” The group blanked for a moment, looking surprised.

“Guild Leader, the one who wanted to kill the Second City Lord and the Third City Lord… is the Great City Lord who is at death’s door?” Ji Xiaoyu asked in confusion.

The same confusion appeared on everyone’s faces.

“Yeah.” Yu Zhun walked briskly toward the Great City Lord’s Mansion while explaining the reasoning to his companions. “Rich Lady, who do you think permitted the [Red People] to enter Red Cloud City in the normal clear route of the [End of the Red Land] Dungeon?”

“This…” Ji Xiaoyu paused for a moment before speaking with some uncertainty. “It should be the Great City Lord, right?”

“Lomon mentioned that they needed to enter Red Cloud City as soon as possible while the Great City Lord was still alive. That means even if they drank the water from the [Lake of Purity], the other City Lords might not allow them to enter.”

“Exactly.” Yu Zhun gave a slight nod. “The reason Red Cloud City doesn’t allow the [Red People] to enter the city isn’t just because of their skin color.

“With the [Red People] out there, Red Cloud City is less likely to be attacked by the Red Ghosts, because to the Red Ghosts, there is better prey outside.”

This detail was actually quite easy to overlook, because players who came here to clear the Dungeon didn’t have such a profound understanding of the Red Ghosts. But the [Godslayer] Guild was different. The Red Ghosts had another name: Demonized Creatures. They shared the exact same forms and habits as the Demonized Creatures from the [Red Moon Tide]! Since everyone was thoroughly familiar with Demonized Creatures, they could guess some of the hidden secrets of the Dungeon based on their habits.

“So Lomon’s idea was actually wrong?” Su Hong’s eyes went wide. “It wasn’t that Enrufe was merciful to them, but rather that anyone who became the Great City Lord would provide the [Red People] with enough supplies for existence just so they could attract the Red Ghosts?”

“But…” Su Yue frowned slightly, still a bit puzzled. “Following this logic, no matter who becomes the Great City Lord, they wouldn’t allow the [Red People] into Red Cloud City, right?

“Why did Enrufe let them in?”

“Because…” Yu Zhun paused for a moment. “The Great City Lord Enrufe who allowed the [Red People] into the city was no longer the Enrufe of the past.

“To prolong his own life, he had gone mad.

“He hired someone to secretly assassinate the Second City Lord and the Third City Lord because he was at a crucial moment. He couldn’t afford to be interrupted by the two people who threatened him the most, so he decided to strike first.

“However, what he didn’t expect was that the person trying to stop him would be a complete nobody he had always ignored.

“Also… Su Yue, you got one thing wrong.”

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Yu Zhun’s mouth. “It is not true that absolutely anyone who becomes the Great City Lord would forbid the [Red People] from entering.”

With those words, Yu Zhun kicked open the doors of the Great City Lord’s Mansion. Without realizing it, they had already arrived at their final destination.

Entering through the doors, a suffocating stench of blood washed over them. A terrifying aura shrouded the entire hall, and the floor was littered with cold corpses. A cold, eerie voice slowly drifted from the very center of the hall into everyone’s ears.

“Hehehe… How did a few little rats manage to break in?”

The group looked toward the source of the voice. An old man, his eyes filled with crimson and madness, stood in the center of the hall. The blood from all the corpses flowed toward him, eventually pooling into a massive sphere behind his back. Floating in front of him was a mass of deep crimson energy, harboring what seemed to be a terrifying power of ultimate evil.
