The Aboveboard Assassin
Chapter 109 - 107: The Hunt Begins Now!
Chapter 109: Chapter 107: The Hunt Begins Now!
"I am going to kill you now."
"Bring it on!" Marcell shouted in a low voice, her hands tightly gripping the Long Sword she had swung countless times. She pointed the blade at her current opponent. "I will be the one who survives!"
-----------------
Divine Revelation World, Server 53221.
Countless powerhouses erupted into excited cheers, their eyes glued to that single name on the talent leaderboard.
Unlike Blue Star, this was a world where the highest-leveled powerhouse was only Lv67. Their overall weakness was so severe that merely offering Divine Demon Medals to the Outer Gods was enough to break everyone’s backs. They had long discovered the cruel truth of this world. Risking their lives to enter 4A-grade Dungeons, they struggled to maintain the world’s Existence despite an agonizing mortality rate!
Marcell’s emergence was a ray of hope in their dim world. Her heaven-defying talent gave every player hope for the future, and her unprecedented feat of being the first to reach the twenty-second floor of the Nether Trial rapidly magnified that hope.
She could do it!
She could surpass every powerhouse who came before her and lead their world to greater heights! Once the pressure of providing Divine Demon Medals was alleviated, the mortality rate among mid-tier players would drastically decrease. Retaining their vital forces would nurture a formidable overall strength, triggering a qualitative change in everything!
And right now, she was experiencing the first 4A-grade Dungeon of her life!
Inside the hall of the world’s most powerful faction, the Lv67 supreme powerhouse led all the Second-Turn experts as they stared fixedly at a lit candle. It was the item Life Lamp, which could confirm the life or death of the person tied to it. The one before them was undeniably linked to Marcell!
The supreme powerhouse had long ordered all lights turned off and all doors and windows covered, allowing only the glow of the Life Lamp to illuminate everyone’s faces. This scene perfectly mirrored the current plight of their world. In the darkness, they all prayed for this flame to burn brighter, hoping it would eventually bathe their entire world in the light of hope!
"Leader, what do you think the Nether Abyss will look like?" one of the powerhouses asked slowly.
"I don’t know," the supreme powerhouse replied, shaking his head slightly. "Marcell is the first person to unlock it. I believe the Nether Abyss should be very similar to the Nether Trial, divided into many floors.
"Reaching the final floor and killing the Boss would mean clearing the Dungeon.
"I just hope Marcell doesn’t encounter an overly powerful opponent." The supreme powerhouse sighed softly, though he quickly realized how pointless his words were. After all, how could anyone capable of reaching the twenty-second floor of the Nether Trial be weak?
"Leader, I think you’re overthinking it," another powerhouse spoke up slowly. "We all know Marcell’s situation.
"She has a staggering 95% damage reduction. This reduction cannot be bypassed by any type of damage; even talent traits like defense penetration are completely useless against it.
"Furthermore, Marcell’s Life Value is as high as 110,000.
"This means that an opponent would have to deal over 2.2 million damage in a single strike to genuinely threaten her.
"Do you really think a Lv30 player could inflict that kind of damage?"
As his words fell, cheerful laughter filled the hall. Let alone a Lv30 player, even a formidable First-Turn player would struggle to dish out that magnitude of damage. As long as Marcell was given a chance to counterattack, it would all be over.
This was the unbeatable SSS-grade talent, King’s Way Manifested!
What was the "King’s Way"? Open and Aboveboard, letting the opponent strike first. That was the true King’s Way!
The atmosphere in the hall gradually relaxed, and even the supreme powerhouse smiled. It was true. How could such a talent possibly be countered?
BUZZ.
A soft hum echoed. The Life Lamp went out.
Darkness instantly enveloped the entire hall. Following a moment of dead silence, hysterical wails and cries erupted.
"No!!!"
"This isn’t real!!!"

[You have killed Server 53221 player: Marcell.]
[Congratulations on obtaining the personal reward: Divine Demon Medal x1. Server 45239 obtains the world reward: Divine Demon Medal x1.]
[Your Red Name Value +1. Current Red Name Value: 1.]
Yu Zhun’s name instantly turned from black to red. However, this red did not glow; one could only see his red name by looking directly at him.
When the Red Name Value exceeded 10, the red name would actively emit light, making it visible from a great distance. From then on, the higher the Red Name Value, the more conspicuous the glow would become. Rumor had it that when players ranked at the very top of the Red Name List entered a 4A-grade Dungeon, the Light radiating from their names could manifest as a long rainbow, stretching across the Dungeon and instantly making them visible to everyone.
Yu Zhun pondered over the Divine Demon Medal as he reached out to catch the single medal drifting down from the air.
Killing one un-turned player yielded two Divine Demon Medals. However, both medals were not directly given to the player. Half of it was a personal reward, while the other half was a world reward. The latter was uniformly managed by the supreme powerhouse of the current world.
This unique Mechanism had a significant advantage. Even if a player died in a 4A-grade Dungeon and their personal rewards were looted by players from other races, the world reward could not be stolen. They would still be able to make some contribution to their home world in the end. Of course, personal rewards weren’t necessarily entirely personal, and world rewards didn’t necessarily belong to the world either. That entirely depended on the will of each world’s supreme powerhouse.
Taking Blue Star as an example, many official players in the Divine Revelation Hall would hand over a portion of their personal rewards to the hall for distribution, helping everyone weather the difficult times together.
However, before Yu Zhun entered the Nether Abyss, Zhu Zhe had stated that since Yu Zhun was currently in dire need of boosting his strength, the world rewards would be given entirely to him to use as he saw fit after leaving the Dungeon. Yu Zhun had not refused this goodwill because he truly needed to increase his power right now. Only with sufficient strength would he have the capability to earn more Divine Demon Medals and alleviate the pressure on everyone else.
Moreover, before Yu Zhun entered the Nether Abyss, Zhu Zhe had forcefully shoved twenty Divine Demon Medals into his hands. Zhu Zhe hadn’t hesitated in the slightest, despite the fact that this action could result in a massive loss of Divine Demon Medals if Yu Zhun died in the Dungeon.
As for the reason... Zhu Zhe said Yu Zhun would understand if he managed to survive until the end of the Dungeon. He was acting like a classic riddler.
Stowing the Divine Demon Medal, along with the full set of +20 Red Equipment and various items dropped by the silver-haired girl upon her death, into his inventory, the girl’s incredulous expression just before she died kept flashing through Yu Zhun’s mind.
"Sorry," Yu Zhun muttered softly.
Perhaps the death of this young girl, who possessed the qualifications to enter the Nether Abyss, would bring a catastrophe upon her world. But that was not something he needed to consider. Because he had his own world requiring a Guardian.
The moment that Demon Assassin had struck, Yu Zhun had already noticed the silver-haired girl standing not far away. Originally, Yu Zhun had planned to take the Demon Assassin’s strike head-on without dodging and then counter-kill him. However, he instantly changed his mind and chose to evade, just to prevent Marcell from seeing through more of his trump cards.
Even so, Yu Zhun wasn’t entirely sure if his concealment had successfully deceived her. After all, the girl had seemingly made no plans to defend herself, forcefully enduring his attack. As a result, he had absolutely no idea what her talent actually was.
HUM.
A distant buzzing sound echoed abruptly.
Yu Zhun instinctively looked toward the source of the noise, his pupils shrinking. Among the ten pillars of light, one had shifted from its original Golden color to pure white. This meant that the Dungeon Boss acting as the Guardian of the Teleportation Array had already been killed!
So fast?!
Looking at his target Teleportation Array, which was still quite a distance away, Yu Zhun immediately activated Swift Step, moving stealthily like a phantom. Suddenly, a sharp whistle pierced the air from his side.
Driven by his max-level Sword Dance, Yu Zhun instinctively dodged the two explosively fast incoming arrows. Turning his head toward the source, he spotted three brand-new common monsters appearing from the flank: one Demon Warrior and two Demon archers.
Taking the initiative to kill them would waste time. However, ignoring them meant they would relentlessly chase after him.
Glancing at their Physical Attack, Yu Zhun suddenly had a bold idea. He sheathed his daggers at his waist, concealing them beneath his clothes, and then pulled out a Long Sword from his inventory.
It was an epic-grade Long Sword. Weapons and Equipment not belonging to one’s Profession could not be equipped, provided no Equipment attributes, and their corresponding Equipment effects could not be used. Similarly, non-Profession weapons and Equipment could not trigger talents.
But Yu Zhun now had a new layer of disguise.
Right now, he was Yu Zhun the Warrior.
