Chapter 452: Chapter 141: Which Junior Is Lynch’s Favorite!?

’Our Ophelia is usually so quiet, but when she makes a move, it’s a killer.’

’She must have been secretly trying to win over that Lynch kid. Tsk, tsk... Beautifully done.’

’You three girls all met Lynch at the same time and you’re all from noble families. Why should that soft and delicate little Avril get him all to herself? In a situation like this, forget about sisterly bonds. If you have to fight, then fight. You can’t let a boy like Lynch get away!’

Just as he was thinking this, Master Lianna, as if sensing his thoughts, shot him a hostile look.

Frankly, she was not pleased at all.

’That brat Lynch... even if he wanted to keep a low profile like he did three years ago and give away the Tier Four kill, he should have at least given it to *my* student, Avril, right?’

’After all, everyone knew that Avril’s heart was completely devoted to Lynch. She had sacrificed too much for him, even following him to that godforsaken frontier to suffer for over two years.’

’So where in the world did this Ophelia Lier suddenly pop out from?’

For a moment, Lianna couldn’t help but feel a twinge of anxiety for her student. Her glare at the Warrior Master intensified, as if to say, ’Your little Warrior Series upstart dares to poach from our Holy Light System?’

"AHEM." The Warrior Master quickly wiped the smug look from his face, turning his head away and pretending like nothing happened.

’He had no desire to get into a war of words with Lianna; he knew he could never out-argue that sharp-tongued, scathing woman.’

The Undead System’s master, Old Harvey, was also baffled. He took a reflexive sip of wine and asked in confusion, "Why didn’t that Lynch kid give the Tier Four kill to Avril? I thought she was the one closest to him?"

"He wants them all."

The words came unexpectedly from Master Cole, who was known for being taciturn.

One stone had just stirred a thousand waves.

"Holy shit! No way!" Old Harvey sprayed a mouthful of wine, his eyes wide with astonishment. "That kid is that greedy?"

The Elemental Tutor, Master Gwen, nodded thoughtfully at these words. "That’s not outside the realm of possibility. I heard that when the Lynch kid was at the front, he was also involved with two graduates from the last class—the Holy Light System’s Holy Knight, Catherine, and the Undead System’s Amadis... Stories even circulated... Mmm, I think it was called... ’The Contest of the Holy Light’s Ice Rose and the Death Violet’..."

The moment he spoke, the atmosphere among the masters of Hurst Academy became strangely tense and awkward.

Even within the Holy Light System, Master Lianna’s gaze toward the Holy Knight master, Casper, now held a faint hint of hostility.

After all, Catherine, the Holy Light’s Ice Rose, was his student!

"Gwen, what’s that supposed to mean?" Master Casper frowned. "That girl Catherine just went to the frontier to temper herself. What’s this nonsense about a ’Holy Light’s Ice Rose’..."

"Heh, ’temper herself’?" Lianna sneered. "I heard she applied to be permanently stationed at the Ninth Battle Battalion. You call that ’tempering’?"

"You..."

Old Harvey couldn’t resist taking another gulp of wine. Looking at the bizarre atmosphere, he couldn’t help but mutter to himself in his head.

’That Lynch kid is truly amazing. He single-handedly shattered the alliance within the academy’s Holy Light System.’

In truth, the atmosphere wasn’t just awkward and tense on the side of the Hurst masters; Ailendra Moon Language was also staring at Lynch with a resentful gaze.

From her perspective, Lynch was utterly humiliating her.

If she had lost to Lynch himself, she wouldn’t have felt wronged in the slightest; she would have even been convinced of his superiority. After all, his strength was undeniably greater than hers.

But Lynch had given the Tier Four kill to a female Warrior who was clearly weaker than her, allowing that Ophelia to be ranked above her. How could she ever accept that?

At this moment, her heart was filled with frustration and indignation. She wished she could just draw an arrow and shoot something.

But evidently, Lynch hadn’t spared her a single glance; he was busy whispering and laughing with Avril at his side.

Then, Lilith, with her pale-gold ponytail, stepped forward to turn in her quest items.

To everyone’s shock, the quest items she submitted were just as numerous as Ophelia’s, if not more so. She also had an ear belonging to a Tier Four Gnoll!

It was the ear of a Gnoll Warlock, crimson all over and radiating potent fluctuations of the Fire Element.

"Three Tier Three, twelve Tier Two, and... one Tier Four Fire-Fang Warlock." Lilith blinked playfully. "My senior helped me defeat it, you know."

Just like that, Lilith Malthus staged an upset, surging to the top of the point rankings with a score of fifty-two thousand.

Ophelia fell to second, and Ailendra was pushed down to third.

Lynch, of course, was now in fourth place.

Inside the central tent, the atmosphere on the masters’ side grew even stranger.

"Wh-what is this bizarre development?" Old Harvey scratched his head, a look of utter confusion on his face.

Everyone turned their piercing gazes on the Elemental Tutor, Master Gwen. Their looks seemed to say, ’So in the end, your Elemental System is the real winner, huh?!’

Master Gwen looked blank for a moment, then his expression turned to one of pure ecstasy. "Haha! I’ve been saying it all along! That girl Lilith is a Fire Element genius! As expected, she didn’t disappoint!"

The other masters all shot him a nasty glare.

’That bastard. He must have been sending Lilith plenty of Magic Letters, teaching her how to win over Lynch.’

Meanwhile, at the submission site, Ailendra Moon Language’s glare grew even more venomous, so dark it looked as if it could drip poison.

’You had Ophelia placed above me to humiliate me, Lynch, and I could almost stomach that. But now you’re putting a little fire mage girl above me, too... Just how far will you go to shame me?’
