Chapter 435: Chapter 139: The Beautiful Mentor’s Mission, That’s All (Part 2)
Seeing this, Ophelia, Lilith, Avril, and the others immediately surrounded Lynch excitedly. "What about us? Can’t we form a ’Lakefront Battle Group’ and follow you on a killing spree?"
Lynch, however, shot them a disdainful glance. "You? I’ll leave you a few corpses. Form your own little team and go play. Don’t follow me and hold me back." ℯℯ𝑙.
After saying his piece, he summoned two Tier Two Black Corpses from his Death Banner and tossed them to the girls. Then, with a flicker, he was gone, disappearing deep into the jungle ahead of everyone else.
"He’s getting less and less charming," Lily grumbled, stomping her foot in frustration.
After Lynch had given his orders, the other students began forming their own small battle groups with classmates they knew well, huddling together to plan their strategies.
As for the younger students, although Lynch hadn’t paid them any mind, his own underclassman, Charlotte, had taken charge. She began organizing them into groups, looking every bit the little adult.
After all, even though she was only a junior student, her power had already surpassed Tier One, placing her individual strength above Maurice and the rest of the graduating class.
Over the past three years, she had built up considerable prestige among her peers, making her the undisputed top underclassman in the Undead Major. Any top students from other majors who got too full of themselves had received more than a few beatings from her.
The other two academies were also making their own arrangements.
「Three or four days passed in the blink of an eye.」
Just as Lynch had predicted, the upperclassmen from the Imperial Capital Academy didn’t adopt a strategy of diligently grinding monsters for points. Instead, they plunged deep into the red zone to search for Lynch, who was rumored to be operating alone. Their plan was clear: eliminate their most threatening opponent first and worry about points later.
To be fair, based on conventional logic, it was a sound strategy.
If they could eliminate the biggest threat, Lynch, early on, they could then turn around and work together to deal with the other fairly strong students from Hurst, like Avril and Ophelia. By doing so, Hurst Academy would have no hope of achieving a respectable score.
As for Silver Moon Academy, they had never been the Imperial Capital Academy’s target.
In fact, Silver Moon Academy belonged to the Free City States’ system. No matter how humiliatingly they lost in this joint examination, it was utterly impossible for the Imperial Capital Academy to absorb them.
In the eyes of the Imperial Capital Academy’s leadership, there had only ever been one prey in this tri-academy exam: the fading Hurst Royal Academy, which, despite its decline, stubbornly clung to its title as the Empire’s orthodox institution.
Of course, to display the might of the Imperial Capital Academy, Silver Moon Academy still needed to be suppressed. However, that was a task for after they had finished dealing with Hurst Academy.
"Damn it, where the hell did that guy go?"
Deep in the red zone, near a miasma-choked swamp, Karl von Hohenlohe impatiently swatted away a pesky poisonous mosquito. His expression was as dark as a thundercloud.
He and the twenty-some elite students from the Imperial Capital Academy had been searching this perilous jungle for three or four days straight. They hadn’t found Lynch, let alone a single bone belonging to a Necromancer.
"Carl," a Tier Two Mage began quietly, wiping the sweat from his brow, "do you think Lynch got scared and is hiding somewhere?"
"Unlikely," Carl gritted his teeth. "That bastard is far too arrogant. He wouldn’t just cower and hide..."
’In truth, even he was starting to have his doubts...’
’If Lynch wasn’t deliberately avoiding them, how could they have searched for so long without a single clue?’
Just as he was about to adjust his strategy—to give up the search and start grinding for points—a Scout leaped down from the treetops. The man wore leather armor, had an eagle perched on his shoulder, and his face was alight with joy. He was a Tier One Peak Hunter.
"Carl, we found him! Lynch is on the rugged flats a few miles to the southeast!"
"What?!" Carl’s eyes flashed. "Are you sure it’s him?"
"Positive. The man’s riding a Tier Three Hellish Skeleton Dog, surrounded by several hundred Skeleton Soldiers. He’s in the middle of wiping out a Fishman Tribe!"
"Excellent!" Carl clenched his fists, a vicious glint in his eyes. ’Lynch, let’s see you run this time!’
「Meanwhile.」
A few miles to the southeast, on the edge of a craggy, rock-strewn beach.
Hundreds of Fishman corpses lay strewn across the flats, their blood dyeing the black reefs an eerie color.
The air was thick with the stench of fish and blood. A salty sea breeze swept over the shore, but it couldn’t disperse the nauseatingly heavy miasma of death.
Clearly, this was the site of a recent slaughter.
In the center of the battlefield, Lynch was casually perched atop a massive Tier Three Hellish Skeleton Dog.
This was his very first mount, Red Rabbit. It was later renamed "Little Rabbit" and lent to his Bone Mage, but Lynch had since taken it back.
Surrounding him, a Skeleton Corps several hundred strong was busy tidying the battlefield. They dragged the corpses together, sorting them into several piles based on their power tier and class.
In addition, dozens of powerful Black Corpses stood guard around him like iron towers. Eerie green Soul Fire flickered within the eye sockets of many, marking them as precious Soul Fire units.
