The water in the Imperial Suite’s private hot spring was perfectly still, save for the gentle, rhythmic cascading of the bamboo filter pouring fresh, magically heated mineral water into the basin. Thick clouds of white steam rolled over the polished grey stones, carrying the faint, soothing scent of eucalyptus and blooming night-jasmine.

Leon Wes sat submerged up to his collarbones, his head resting against the smooth rock edge of the pool. He let out a long, slow breath, watching the vapor swirl into the cool night air.

He had survived. He had broken the Adept threshold eighty-seven days ahead of schedule, slaughtered a Zone Boss, and annihilated the endgame regions of Sector 4. But right now, the only thing that mattered was the sheer, undeniable luxury of the hot water seeping into his hyper-dense muscle fibers.

Even with Perfect Body reconstructing his cells and Aura of the Undying flooding his system with passive vitality, the phantom fatigue of pushing his mind and body through a twelve-hour, twenty-three-level massacre still lingered. The hot spring was the perfect remedy. It grounded him, washing away the stench of abyssal void energy, acidic spider ichor, and rotting swamp mud.

After thirty minutes of absolute, uninterrupted silence, Leon finally opened his eyes. The golden ring of his SSS-Rank Origin Eyes faintly illuminated the steam in front of him.

"System," Leon murmured. "Open full status and asset management."

Leon stared at the glowing blue interface floating above the water. The numbers were staggering. With 135 Intelligence and 110 Constitution, his spells possessed the destructive yield of artillery fire, and his physical resilience mirrored that of a fortress wall.

He shifted his focus to the bottom of the panel. Forty-six Evolution Points and several sets of unspent fragments. He had ignored system maintenance during his twelve-hour frenzy in order to maximize his hunting time, but now he had the luxury to theory-craft.

He didn’t have enough fragments to create standalone talents from Hellfire Breath or Resonant Armor, which required ten pieces each. But he didn’t need them as standalone abilities.

"Fuse the eight fragments of Resonant Armor directly into Obsidian Carapace," Leon commanded.

Ding!

[8 Fragments of "Resonant Armor" have been fused into Talent: Obsidian Carapace (B).]

[Obsidian Carapace has gained: Kinetic Resonance.]

[Description Updated: The user’s hardened volcanic skin now actively stores a portion of the kinetic energy it absorbs from physical strikes. Upon deactivation or manual trigger, this stored energy can be released as a localized concussive shockwave.]

A perfect synergy. He could absorb a massive blow, store the force, and detonate it back into his attacker’s face.

"Next. Fuse the eight fragments of Hellfire Breath into Poison Howl."

Ding!

[8 Fragments of "Hellfire Breath" have been fused into Talent: Poison Howl (A).]

[Talent Mutated! Poison Howl (A) has transformed into: Hellfire Howl (A).]

[Description: The user releases a devastating cone of superheated, toxic ash and hellfire. Targets caught in the blast suffer severe burning damage, stacking poison, and a chance of temporary paralysis from the sheer agony of the corrupted flames.]

Leon allowed a faint, satisfied smile to touch his lips. He dismissed the fragment menu, leaving only the five pieces of Lingering Curse untouched in his inventory. He was still waiting to harvest more of those to unlock the pure curse-energy pathway.

That left the forty-six Evolution Points.

"Evolve Gale Weaver."

[8 Evolution Points consumed.]

[Gale Weaver has evolved: C → B]

[New Talent: Storm-Strider (B)]

[Description: The user possesses masterful control over atmospheric pressure and wind currents. Can sustain prolonged, high-speed levitation, generate localized vacuums capable of suffocating targets, and seamlessly blend wind magic into physical movements to entirely negate air resistance.]

"Evolve Alpha’s Roar."

Ding!

[6 Evolution Points consumed.]

[Alpha’s Roar has evolved: C → B]

[New Talent: Monarch’s Command (B)]

[Description: A vocalization imbued with pure, concentrated authority. Exerts crushing gravitational and psychological pressure on weaker-willed targets, forcing them to their knees or briefly stunning elites. Can be focused on a single target to shatter magical channeling.]

He had thirty-two points remaining. He looked at Gorgon’s Decree and Domain of the Dead, both sitting at B-Rank, and Hellfire Howl at A-Rank. Evolving them to the next tier would cost massive amounts of points, and they were already performing flawlessly. He decided to hold the remaining points in reserve. Over-investing just because the currency was available was a trap; he needed flexibility for whatever the Adept tier threw at him next.

Leon closed the interface with a swipe of his hand.

He stood up from the hot spring, the water cascading off his flawless, heavily muscled physique. The cool night air hit his skin, but the Perfect Body talent instantly regulated his internal temperature, preventing any discomfort. He dried off, stepped back into the Imperial Suite, and dressed in a fresh set of dark linen clothes provided by the Lotus Rest.

He strapped the Bloodfang Edge to his hip, draped the midnight-black Sovereign’s Mantle over his shoulders, and picked up Stormcaller’s Conduit.

It was time to balance the books.

The Eastern Checkpoint at night was a completely different beast than during the day. The frantic, shouting merchants were replaced by the glow of tavern fires, the clinking of ale mugs, and the hushed, tense conversations of guilds organizing their next day’s hunting rotations. The streets were patrolled by high-level NPC guards carrying torches, ensuring the Safe Zone edicts were respected.

Leon walked through the cobblestone streets with the hood of the Sovereign’s Mantle pulled low. The Platinum-Rank artifact absorbed the ambient torchlight, effectively rendering him a shifting shadow in the periphery of anyone who happened to glance his way. He bypassed the crowded tavern districts entirely, making his way toward the polished white marble columns of the Gilded Anchor.

The heavy oak doors were closed, but not locked. NPC merchant guilds of this caliber operated at all hours for those who could afford their services.

Leon pushed the doors open, stepping into the quiet, incense-filled luxury of the grand hall.
