Chapter 400: A Game ? (2)
Looking into her eyes, which appeared so ordinary at first glance, Ash found himself unexpectedly taken aback.
Unlike the majority, who might fail to truly see—or more precisely, to fully comprehend—the extraordinary beauty of the women before him, his newly acquired vision left nothing beyond his perception.
It was this heightened clarity that not only allowed him to appreciate their presence in its entirety but also enabled him to read books effortlessly, free from the strain and difficulty that had once hindered him.
He smiled, hands still casually in his pockets.
“And… you two are pure beauties, you know?” he said, voice low and relaxed, ignoring her previous question entirely.
“A Librarian and an Alchemist… two women I don’t have in my harem, yet~.”
Luna’s lips twitched, a small, surprised laugh escaping her.
Ancestor Seeker’s smile remained, but her eyes sparkled with quiet amusement.
“You’re bold….. bolder than most who dare stand in front of me,” she replied, tilting her head.
Ash shrugged lightly, still smiling.
“Well…. I mean what can I say?”
He advanced with deliberate slowness, his gaze shifting between the two women, free of haste or hostility—only a calm, appreciative curiosity in his expression.
“So… you own this place,” he remarked, his tone casual yet edged with a subtle, probing intent.
’Those gazes… could it have been these two? Even if not, there’s still something I can learn from them,’ he considered, already preparing to disclose a fragment of information gleaned from their status.
’Even if that’s risky… we can always retreat into the inner verse,’ Elysia’s voice resonated in his mind, her presence steady as she and the others had returned as a precaution.
Moreover, their primary objective had already been achieved.
“A True Library Spirit… and you,” he inclined his head toward Luna, “one of the top seven alchemists. I must admit, I’m intrigued—what reason could you have for keeping an eye on someone like me?”
Ancestor Seeker studied him for a moment, then she laughed as if she found a gem.
“I knew I wasn’t wrong… you are the one,” she said vaguely before continuing.
“Indeed, we’ve been watching you… since the first time you came here.” She admitted, “Though, I must say, your journey is pretty boring, isn’t it?”
Ash’s eyes narrowed slightly, but his smile stayed.
“Boring?” he asked, “Depends on how you look at it.”
For him, the journey had exceeded anything he could have imagined back on Earth.
In just under 70,000 years, he had risen from a humble transmigrator to a figure nearly unmatched in skill and entirely unrivaled in potential.
This reality genuinely astonished him; he would not deny that he had once envisioned more battles that would push him to the brink, moments where his life hung precariously in the balance.
Yet, when faced with the choice between absolute power and potential or a grueling ascent to supremacy, he would invariably choose the former.
In a world as unpredictable as this one, he had no desire for additional hardship beyond what he had already endured.
Ancestor Seeker scoffed as she waved him off.
“Oh please, you think I don’t know?” She asked, “You are currently in my domain… under my direct gaze.”
As she spoke, her eyes transformed from their usual brown into a radiant, pure gold.
Within her gaze, a text box appeared beside Ash’s head, containing, in meticulous detail, the entirety of a being’s essence.
Organized into distinct sections resembling folders, they bore labels such as History, Achievements, Race, Family, Future, and more.
With a single thought, she could access whatever knowledge she desired—at least, in most circumstances.
However, regarding the man standing before her, the only information visible was a Name and a Race.
“Ash Originat, The Unus….” She muttered, as beyond normal things one thing she could read clearly is his aspirations.
“You are quite the sly speaker. I know you desire more fun on your journey….”
She paused, then added softly, “And that’s why I involuntarily put you into a little game… as my Champion.”
At those words, Ash’s smile froze right before it was wiped away. Not because she knew his name… not because she knew his race or anything of that matter.
But, because of the word… little game.
From her status he obviously knew of the champion stuff, but what he didn’t like was being used as a pawn.
Being a champion could have meant many things which is why he didn’t react right off, but now it was clear.
“A little game?” He asked with arched brows. “Or have you made me… into some pawn?”
Ancestor Seeker watched him carefully, her golden eyes still glowing faintly with that overwhelming depth of perception.
Luna stood quietly beside her, arms crossed, a small, intrigued smile playing on her lips as she observed the exchange.
The Librarian showed no offense at his tone; if anything, her expression warmed with a hint of genuine amusement.
“No, you’re not a pawn—none of you are,” she replied evenly. “I’m sure you’re already familiar with the nine cosmic organisms and their counterparts.”
With that, she glanced at the three Unus Spirits and smiled. “Isn’t that right, spirit sisters~”
Elysia, Creara, and Unara were all a bit stunned, not to mention Ash and Luna.
After all, the three were supposed to be hidden, so much so that even Luna couldn’t see them.
It wasn’t because they had used any special concealment technique, but simply because it was a natural trait of being a spirit.
“Yeah, yeah, get back to the point, old bones,” Creara said, rolling her eyes.
Ancestor Seeker chuckled softly before speaking.
“This Game has been in development long before the existence of the Organisms. Eighteen infants from True Reality had been incubating alongside the birth of the Organisms.”
She then went on to elaborate.
In essence, within each Organism resided a Champion of True Reality—whether a wandering cultivator or a supreme ruler.
Their awareness of one another’s existence was certain, though the specifics remained indistinct.
However, this was all part of the game they were playing.
While the Organisms required 9,999 peak cultivators in the High Dimension before awakening, there were two other catalysts.
One was mana stones—each champion previously needed 750 trillion of them and had to become the sole champion. Only then would each Organism awaken.
Ash’s eyes narrowed.
“And you called my journey boring?” he said, then added, “If I enter this game… it’ll be over before it even starts.”
He didn’t need to explain much. Mana stones? He had an endless supply—quite literally.
Battling with some champions?
It might sound entertaining, but how long would it take before they were nothing more than ants groveling at his feet?
“I’ve seen this far too many times,” he said. “Tsk, if that grand battle isn’t happening within a few weeks, you might as well just grab whatever prize you’re after.”
“And… get ready to join my harem. After all… I don’t work for free, you know~””
