The Coward Who Dared to Challenge Leon

But more than anything, he hated the fact that there was nothing he could do about it.

Leon watched them.

He didn’t laugh.

He didn’t taunt them.

He didn’t rub their defeat in their faces.

He didn’t need to.

Their expressions were enough.

He had seen this kind of reaction before.

People often became wise after suffering the consequences of their own mistakes.

It was easy to act arrogant when there was nothing to fear.

It was easy to laugh at someone when you believed they were weaker than you.

But the moment reality slapped them in the face, all that confidence disappeared.

Leon had no interest in humiliating them further.

Their regret was punishment enough.

His attention eventually shifted away from the remaining competitors.

He looked toward Evelyn.

She had been standing nearby throughout the entire exchange.

Unlike the others, she didn’t look frightened.

There was a faint smile on her lips.

Her eyes were bright with amusement.

She looked almost as though she were enjoying a private performance.

Leon couldn’t help but notice.

He walked over to her.

His expression relaxed slightly as he approached.

The coldness that had surrounded him a moment earlier faded.

When he reached her, his hand naturally found Evelyn’s waist.

He pulled her closer.

She didn’t resist.

Instead, she leaned comfortably against him.

The movement was effortless.

Familiar.

For a brief moment, the terrifying atmosphere surrounding the arena seemed distant.

The screams.

The fighting.

The nervous whispers.

All of it seemed to fade into the background.

Leon looked down at her.

"Enjoying the show?"

Evelyn smiled.

"Very much. Watching them panic is quite entertaining."

There was a playful edge to her voice.

Leon stared at her for a moment.

Then he couldn’t help but smile.

"You’re enjoying this a little too much."

"Can you blame me?"

Evelyn glanced toward the remaining competitors.

Several of them immediately looked away.

One student suddenly became fascinated with the weapon in his hand.

He inspected it with exaggerated seriousness, as though he had never seen it before.

Another suddenly found the ground incredibly interesting.

He stared down at it without blinking.

A third was whispering urgently to his companions.

Whatever they were discussing, they clearly didn’t want Leon or Evelyn hearing it.

Evelyn’s smile widened.

"They were very confident earlier."

Leon followed her gaze.

Leon followed her gaze.

He couldn’t help noticing the same thing.

The people who had been shouting the loudest were now doing everything possible to avoid eye contact.

A quiet chuckle escaped him.

"They’ve learned."

"Apparently."

Evelyn’s voice remained light.

But before either of them could say anything else, footsteps sounded behind them.

A moment later, Selena landed beside them.

The impact was light.

Almost graceful.

There was barely any dust kicked up beneath her feet.

Yet several nearby competitors instinctively tensed the instant they saw her.

Their bodies reacted before their minds could stop them.

Selena noticed.

She simply didn’t care.

Her attention remained on Leon and Evelyn.

Her golden eyes slowly swept across the remaining competitors.

There were only a handful left now.

The battlefield had been reduced to a fraction of what it had been when the match started.

Broken ground stretched across the arena.

Dust floated lazily through the air.

Weapons and discarded equipment were scattered across the battlefield.

Some students had already been eliminated.

Others stood frozen, desperately trying to figure out what they should do next.

Selena looked toward Leon.

Her expression remained calm.

There was no excitement in her voice.

No hesitation either.

Only complete confidence.

"Should I finish them off, darling?"

Leon shook his head.

"Let them stew a little longer. The fear is more satisfying."

Evelyn laughed softly.

"You’re cruel."

Leon glanced at her.

"Only to those who deserve it."

He looked back toward the remaining competitors.

His expression became indifferent again.

They were no longer worth much attention.

The result had practically been decided already.

Leon surveyed the remaining competitors with casual disinterest.

"Selena—warm-up’s over. Let’s finish this quickly."

Selena nodded.

Her eyes gleamed.

"With pleasure, darling."

The instant those words left her mouth, her figure disappeared.

She launched forward.

The remaining competitors scattered.

Panic finally took control.

They moved in different directions, desperately trying to create distance between themselves and Selena.

One sprinted toward the edge of the arena.

Another tried to hide behind a damaged section of the battlefield.

A third attempted to regroup with his companions.

But there was nowhere to run.

Nowhere to hide.

Grouping together?

What good would that do?

They had already witnessed what Selena could do to a group.

Numbers meant nothing when the difference in strength was this enormous.

The first competitor barely had time to raise his weapon.

Selena appeared in front of him.

A single strike sent him flying.

Before he could recover, the arena’s elimination mechanism registered his defeat.

Another student tried to attack Selena from behind.

She turned without even looking surprised.

Her arm moved.

The attack was stopped.

The next moment, he was thrown aside.

One after another, they fell.

There was no dramatic struggle.

No miraculous comeback.

No last-minute reversal.

The remaining competitors simply couldn’t keep up.

Every attempt to resist was crushed.

Every desperate plan failed.

Every moment of hesitation cost them dearly.

The arena became quieter with every elimination.

Until, finally, there was no one left.

The arena emptied.

And Leon stood at the center.

His women beside him.

The crowd silent.

And the match was about to over.

Leon gave the order for Selena to go all out.

Eliminate the remaining competitors quickly.

"But suddenly he said, Wait."

His eyes narrowed.

Cutting through the crowd to lock onto a burly figure in a blue school uniform.

This was one of the loudest provocateurs earlier.

Before Leon had contracted Selena, this guy used to hang out with Evan and constantly mock him.

Eliminating him so easily would be letting him off too lightly.

"You. Come here."

Leon’s lips curled into a playful smirk.
