Taming the Tyrant Beast Women
Chapter 74: The Placement Match Begins
The Placement Match Begins
On Leon’s arena.
Fifty teams stood scattered across the battlefield.
Above them, a massive holographic display flickered.
Countless names in random order.
This round was just the placement match.
A rough assessment of each student’s skill level.
Based on their scores, they would be sorted into different hunting grounds to battle demonic beasts.
Higher-tier hunting grounds meant greater danger—but also higher scores.
The placement matches consisted of 10 rounds.
Each round awarded points based on performance.
Up to 10 points per round.
Which would be added to the final martial exam total.
"Leon—I see you!"
A tall, muscular student in a No. 1 High uniform pointed at Leon with smug satisfaction.
Leon glanced at him.
Gian.
They had never gotten along.
Clearly, he was using this opportunity to stir up trouble.
Leon returned his gaze with a cold, knowing smile.
Just you wait.
Evelyn leaned closer to Leon.
"Friend of yours?"
"Hardly."
Selena’s eyes narrowed. "He looks like he wants to hurt you."
Leon shrugged. "Let him try."
The placement matches had 10 rounds.
The first three would likely pit him against local students.
The remaining seven would match him against competitors from across the province.
"Everyone—let’s knock Leon off the stage first!"
Gian shouted maliciously.
His voice carrying across the arena.
"Yeah! Take him down first!"
Leon’s smile widened.
He looked at his women.
"Ready to show them what we’ve got?"
Evelyn’s eyes gleamed.
"I’ve been waiting for this."
Selena cracked her knuckles.
"Let’s make it quick, darling. I want to see their faces when they realize they can’t touch us."
Leon laughed.
"That’s my girls."
He turned to face the crowd.
His arms still around both women.
"Come on then. Show me what you’ve got."
The arena buzzed with tension.
And the battle was about to begin.
--------------
Many of the No. 1 High students joined in.
Most of them the same ones who had questioned Leon in the square earlier.
They were already burning with jealousy.
And Leon’s cold, dismissive gaze had only poured fuel on the fire.
"Leon, don’t get too cocky!"
"Hmph—so what if you have two beast-girls? Big deal!"
"Today, we’re taking you down first!"
"Yeah! Knock Leon off the stage!"
Leon stood on the arena.
Surrounded by hostile gazes.
His heart remained calm.
Unmoved.
Evelyn leaned closer to him.
"They’re really mad at you, Leon."
Leon smirked. "Jealousy does that to people."
Selena cracked her knuckles. "Should I knock them all out now?"
"Patience, sweetheart. Let them come to us."
Evelyn laughed softly. "You’re enjoying this too much."
"Can you blame me? They’re just dry leaves who make noise in the wind. But my girls are tornadoes who’ll pull them right out of the tree."
Selena’s golden eyes gleamed. "Flatterer."
"Only with you two."
A voice came from beside them.
"Leon, when the match starts, don’t engage them directly. Try to survive as long as possible. The longer you stay on stage, the higher your score won’t be too low."
Leon turned to look at the speaker.
It was Garry.
The classmate he’d run into at the Temple of the Beast God.
"Got it."
Leon replied flatly.
Then quietly waited for the match to begin.
"That Leon—he looks way too relaxed."
Principal Lawrence was practically fuming at the sight of Leon’s calm face.
Principal Douglas also focused his attention on Leon’s arena.
Every seat in the spectator stands had its own monitor.
Allowing viewers to watch any arena individually.
A massive countdown echoed through the entire venue.
All the examinees braced themselves.
Placement Match—Begin!
Instantly, over a hundred competitors on the arena were released from their restraints.
Battle erupted in an explosion of motion.
As if pre-arranged, a wave of beast-girls wielding expensive weapons charged straight toward Leon.
"Leon, run!" Garry shouted in warning.
But Leon didn’t move.
Seeing a crowd rapidly closing in, Garry’s face went pale.
"So many of them?"
Good grief.
Afraid of being caught in the crossfire, Garry decided to make a run for it.
The rules of this arena were simple.
The longer you stayed on stage, the higher your score.
Alternatively, eliminating enough opponents also added points.
Garry’s strategy was clearly the former.
Keep as far away from other competitors as possible.
As for Leon... good luck, buddy.
Behind the wave of beast-girls, several beast-soul masters in long robes grinned maliciously.
They could already picture the despair on Leon’s face as he was thrown off the stage.
First to be eliminated means the lowest score for this round!
"Selena—time to stretch your legs."
Leon snapped his fingers.
Selena nodded respectfully.
Her legs coiled with power.
She launched forward like a cannonball.
Hurtling toward a competitor on the edge of the arena.
A vicious side-kick connected.
WHAM!
The gap in attributes was so vast that the opponent couldn’t even track Selena’s movements.
They were sent flying off the stage in a single blow.
Crashing with a heavy thud.
Fortunately, the ground below the arena was padded with cushioning mats.
Otherwise, that single kick might have left them crippled.
"Wait... Leon, this is what you call a ’warm-up’?!" Garry’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
That speed and power were far beyond what any normal beast-girl could muster!
Then came the second.
The third.
The fourth.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
One after another.
Like kicking soccer balls.
They were sent tumbling off the stage with no chance to fight back.
Within moments, a massive gap had opened up on the arena.
"So fast?! What kind of speed is that?!" In the spectator stands, Cecilia and the other teachers swallowed hard.
