Leon continued pushing deeper into the hunting ground.

Perhaps because the nearby beasts had been largely cleared, they encountered no more beast tides along the way.

Leon found this disappointing.

But since the middle zone could no longer satisfy his appetite, he decided to head toward the inner zone.

A few stray beasts they met along the way were quickly dispatched by Selena.

The observers outside were stunned.

"It’s like nothing happened to him at all?"

"That’s too fake... Two massive-area beast-soul skills in a row, and he can still fight?"

The larger the skill’s area, the more mana it drained. That was common knowledge.

Yet today, this young man had shattered common sense.

On the giant screens outside the hunting ground, Leon’s figure remained perfectly clear.

He walked through the mist with his hands relaxed at his sides.

There was no sign of exhaustion.

No trembling.

No pale face.

Even after using two terrifying large-area attacks, he still looked as though he had only taken a short walk.

The spectators couldn’t understand it.

Neither could the university representatives.

Among them, Rias remained especially quiet.

Her crimson hair fell over her shoulders as she watched the screen.

Her red eyes followed Leon’s every movement.

She had expected him to be extraordinary.

She had even been willing to offer him the rare Star-Grade Contract because of that belief.

But what she was seeing now was far beyond her expectations.

Rias’s face was still filled with astonishment.

Watching Leon continue fighting, her heart churned like stormy seas.

"We’ve struck gold."

Her voice was soft.

"This year’s Star-Grade student from Bellemont Martial University might just be something truly extraordinary!"

Rias watched the figure on the screen, licking her red lips.

Her eyes sparkled with admiration, and several complicated emotions moved beneath that calm expression.

I just want to catch you and lock you in a little room.

The thought appeared in her mind before she could stop it.

Rias’s fingers slowly tightened around the armrest.

Then she quietly cleared her throat and returned her attention to the screen.

In front of everyone, the university president was secretly entertaining some very inappropriate thoughts!

Leon had no idea.

As far as he was concerned, he was simply hunting.

"Darling—is that the inner zone ahead?"

The three of them gradually emerged from the mist.

Selena walked beside Leon, her long white-silver hair moving gently in the cold wind.

Her fitted snow-white robe followed the movement of her body, the golden sash around her narrow waist catching the faint light.

She stopped and looked ahead.

Beyond the thinning mist were rolling hills.

The landscape became much wilder here.

Huge rocks stood like ancient monuments, while twisted trees grew from cracks in the earth.

Selena could sense several powerful auras swirling among the mountains.

"Yes."

Leon checked his wristband.

The display showed their current position.

They had reached the edge of the inner zone.

Four hours had passed.

Leon looked into the mist ahead.

His purple eyes slowly narrowed.

He hoped the inner zone monsters would give him a real challenge.

The middle zone had already become too easy.

He wanted something stronger.

Something that would force Selena to show more of her true power.

Evelyn walked beside them, her green hair swaying against her purple robe.

She glanced toward Leon.

"You look excited."

Leon smiled.

"Is it that obvious?"

"Very."

Selena gave him a teasing look.

"You’ve had that expression since we entered the hunting ground."

Leon laughed softly.

"What can I say? Stronger enemies mean more soul energy."

Evelyn sighed.

"You really are obsessed with getting stronger."

Leon looked at her.

"Would you rather I stopped?"

"No."

Evelyn smiled.

"I just think it’s cute."

Selena nodded.

"I agree."

Leon looked between the two women.

"You’re both making fun of me."

"Maybe."

Selena’s golden eyes curved slightly.

Evelyn covered her mouth as she laughed.

The brief exchange eased the tension before they entered the inner zone.

Then Leon stopped.

His expression changed.

His soul power spread outward.

Soul Skill: Soul Drain!

Activate!

Leon’s skill expanded instantly.

The world around him seemed to change.

The fog, hills, trees, rocks, and hidden creatures were all mapped inside his mind.

Every movement became clear.

Every pulse of life stood out.

A massive area was mapped in his mind with perfect clarity.

"West..."

Leon turned his head slightly.

"There’s a big one."

Far to the west, something enormous moved.

In his detection, a creature covered in white fur slowly lifted its head.

Its single eye opened.

The creature sensed the disturbance in the surrounding spiritual energy.

It slowly rose.

[Rank: Calamity Boss]

Leon’s eyes lit up.

"According to a senior from Jade City three years ago, there are some truly terrifying beings in the inner zone."

He stared toward the distant mountain.

"And here they are!"

His voice carried genuine excitement.

Finally.

Something worth fighting.

Ordinary boss-level beasts already possessed vastly enhanced vitality and attack power.

Even one of them could become a serious threat outside the hunting ground.

But above ordinary bosses were Calamity Bosses.

They were on an entirely different level.

Unlike ordinary bosses, these beasts had no fixed territory.

They wandered.

They hunted.

And whenever one appeared near a human settlement, the consequences could be devastating.

Entire towns could be destroyed.

Hence the name.

"A Calamity Boss—capable of destroying city defenses."

Rias’s voice came through the observation hall as she watched the screen.
