The B- Rank Breakthrough

Leon stood at the center of it all.

His shoulder-length black hair whipped around his face, but his purple eyes remained unusually calm.

His black oversized coat fluttered violently behind him.

He wasn’t celebrating.

He was watching.

Observing.

Calculating.

Every detail mattered.

Every fallen beast meant soul energy.

Every wave of soul energy was feeding both Selena and himself.

In that moment, Leon became the center of attention.

Every gaze was fixed on him.

"Th-This... it really is Leon!"

"How... how could he—"

"So powerful!"

The Bellemont Province proctor viewing hall filled with gasps and shouts.

People who had been talking only moments ago were now staring at the screen in silence.

Some had forgotten to breathe.

Recruiters from prestigious universities were equally stunned.

One recruiter slowly stood from his chair.

"This is this year’s Bellemont Province placement match number one?"

"I think... he’s about to become the provincial champion!"

"Damn, that’s insane. If I’d been this impressive back in the day, my old man would’ve been grinning like an idiot for weeks."

The young recruiter swallowed hard.

He couldn’t take his eyes off the battlefield.

"The range, the destructive power—unbelievable."

Another recruiter stared at the screen with a complicated expression.

"Comparable to a forbidden curse!"

"Hiss."

Another collective intake of breath swept through the hall.

A forbidden-curse level skill?

At what level had she unlocked a forbidden-curse power?

That question appeared in everyone’s mind.

The most frightening part wasn’t even the destruction.

It was the fact that Selena had done it while being controlled by Leon.

If Leon truly had control over a beast-girl capable of unleashing such power, then his official D-rank aptitude suddenly looked meaningless.

In the hunting ground, a massive area had been completely ravaged.

The earth was cracked and torn.

Deep trenches ran across the battlefield.

Trees had been snapped in half.

Large rocks had been reduced to fragments.

Beast corpses littered the ground.

The air was thick with the stench of blood.

Even the mist carried the smell.

For several seconds, there was no sound.

Then—

"ROAR!"

A raspy cry rose from the ground.

Several bodies moved.

Among the corpses, some beasts had survived—the ones with the strongest vitality.

Their bodies were battered.

Some had broken limbs.

Others were covered in wounds.

Yet they were still alive.

One beast slowly pushed itself upright.

Its claws dug into the soil.

Another dragged its injured body forward.

Their eyes burned with bloodlust as they turned toward Leon’s group.

The sight immediately caught the attention of the viewing hall.

"Wait—something’s wrong!" someone in the proctor hall shouted.

"This skill’s range is too wide—the damage isn’t concentrated. There are survivors!"

Another proctor quickly checked the battlefield readings.

"There are dozens still moving."

"Leon’s in trouble now." Solaris nodded grimly.

"Yeah—a skill of that magnitude must have drained his beast-girl’s mana completely!"

The hall became tense again.

Forbidden-curse level skills consumed terrifying amounts of energy.

That was common knowledge.

A beast-girl couldn’t simply keep throwing out such attacks without consequence.

With so many beasts still alive, and his beast-girl low on mana—how would he handle this?

Rias’s expression also grew serious.

Her crimson hair fell over one shoulder as she stared at the screen.

Her red eyes were usually lively and confident.

Now they were focused.

Low mana was no small matter.

In severe cases, a beast-girl could collapse completely—unable to even walk.

Yet on the screen, the young man’s face remained calm.

There was no panic.

No hesitation.

No sign that he believed the situation had become dangerous.

As if everything was going according to plan.

Rias’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"Do you still have something up your sleeve?"

Her lively eyes sparkled with curiosity.

"Even an 80-level beast-girl couldn’t withstand more than a few of those..."

She leaned slightly closer to the screen.

"How are you going to handle this?"

In the hunting ground.

The scent of blood drifted through the air.

The surviving beasts were gathering.

But something else was happening.

Vast amounts of soul energy gathered around the three of them—like being wrapped in a warm ocean.

The energy entered Leon’s body.

It flowed through his soul.

His breathing became slightly deeper.

Then the familiar mechanical voice rang inside his mind.

[Ding! Your aptitude has been improved. Mana capacity significantly increased.]

Leon blinked.

For a moment, he almost thought he had heard it wrong.

He immediately opened his status panel.

[Beast-Soul Master: Leon]

Aptitude: B-Rank (0.1%)

Mana: 55/55

Soul Skill: Soul Drain

Leon stared at the panel.

Then his mouth slowly curved upward.

"I broke through—B-rank aptitude!"

He was overjoyed.

The breakthrough wasn’t just a change in a number.

Higher aptitude meant higher mana capacity.

It also meant better results during future cultivation.

And Leon knew something else.

Selena could sustain herself.

Evelyn was growing stronger.

But there would be other beast-girls later.

If his team continued expanding, Leon needed enough spiritual power to support them.

He couldn’t remain weak forever.

This hunting ground had given him exactly what he needed.

He clenched his fist.

"This hunting ground was incredible."

Evelyn looked toward him.

"You really broke through?"

Leon nodded.

"Yeah."

Her purple eyes immediately brightened.

"Then congratulations, Leon."

Selena also looked back.

"Congratulations, my love."

Leon smiled at both women.

"Thanks."

Evelyn’s smile grew wider.

"See? I told you that you couldn’t stay behind us forever."

Leon laughed.

"Darling Evelyn, I never planned to."

Selena quietly added, "Then keep absorbing the soul energy."

"I will, Dear Selena."

Leon glanced across the battlefield.

Too bad they could only stay for 8 hours.

Otherwise, Leon would have completely stripped this place bare.

There was simply too much soul energy here.
