Chapter 1129: Home of Demons
Chapter 1129: Home of Demons
Some time later, Vicente, Rex, Larissa and Kong overcame all possible detours to avoid trouble and entered the first town on their journey in search of Theloria.
After some hesitation, they walked into a nebulous city of demons, where several creatures of different races watched them walk slowly, as if they were pests entering a domain that didn’t welcome them.
But while the creatures watched them with strange looks, no one dared to move against the group, with these locals just watching them in a way that was uncomfortable for the group members.
Rex smelled blood coming from several places in his surroundings. For a moment, he felt confused. Meanwhile, Larissa walked slowly behind Vicente, looking at the cobbled streets and abandoned-looking buildings, expecting an attack at any moment.
Vicente continued to advance, while Kong walked beside him, saying in a low voice, “Devilwood was supposedly created by an ancient Devil from the era following the fall of the Celestial King. That entity is said to have created the demon races of Red Enclave, and the island was one of the first in Anicane to emerge.
As a result, the locals share extremely ancient lineages, and are difficult to deal with. They are xenophobic by nature. So even if they feel we’re powerful, they won’t look favorably on us.”
“I wonder how you and Theloria got on so well.” Vicente glanced at Kong out of the corner of his eye, still focused on his surroundings, intending to cross the city until he reached the area where they could pick up their target’s tracks.
Kong smiled and said, “Demons are problematic. But aren’t dragons and humans too? Theloria is a demon, but she has lived far outside the Red Enclave, outside Anicane. Her journey through other planes goes beyond what you and I have experienced together, Vicente.”
“I see.”
“Like her, there are demons who are easier to interact with. But get used to those looks. Demons are generally like that.” Kong looked away, seeing a creature paralyzed, but still staring at them with a bloodlust impossible to hide.
This situation they were in could easily develop into a massacre. But as they were the strongest on their way and weren’t interested in bloodshed, nothing but a tense moment developed in their path.
Even so, in the midst of their trek, powerful demons of the 9th stage eventually appeared to stop them.
“Senior visitors, I’m Vareth, Commander of the Macabre Guard. I’m here to help you on behalf of my Senior, Valmodon,” said a 9-Star Sorcerer who suddenly appeared in the group’s path.
Vareth was dressed all in black, with a hat on his head and a white mask on his face, which showed only his blood-red eyes. Everything else about his appearance seemed ordinary, except for the half-meter-long tail on his back.
“What are the seniors looking for in our city?” Vareth asked in a calm tone, different from the feeling of everyone else in the surrounding area, including the demon guards behind him.
Kong answered, “We’re looking for a succubus. Her name is Theloria. I’m an old acquaintance of hers.”
“Theloria?”
“That name?”
Everyone in Vareth’s group reacted to Kong’s words, some inevitably shifting their gazes in Vareth’s direction.
“I see. You’re looking for Senior Theloria,” Vareth said softly, unable to stop thinking for a moment.
“Do you know where she is?” Vicente looked into the demon’s eyes, bringing Vareth’s attention to him.
’This is no ordinary person.’ Vareth felt a chill under Vicente’s gaze, but remained calm. “I know where she is. However, I’d like to ask you a question before we go to her.”
“What is it?” Vicente saw no problem.
“What are you looking for with Senior Theloria?” Vareth asked loud and clear.
As strong as these visitors were, Vareth and his men would have a lot more trouble looking for Theloria without good reason than they believed they would have dealing with these strange visitors. Theloria was much scarier than they were!
The dragon introduced himself. “My name is Kong. I’m an old acquaintance of Theloria. This next to me is Vicente, a friend, whom I believe Theloria would love to meet.”
“Oh?” Vareth shifted his gaze, alternating between Kong and Vicente and then finally stopping at the human with the long, black hair. Without further hesitation, he took a step to the side and gestured with one of his hands. “Please accompany me. Senior Theloria is only 15 minutes away from here.”
Vicente looked at Konk and nodded, moving forward under Vareth’s guidance, ignoring the others in the vicinity.
Vareth said to his group, “Stay here and get the city back to normal. I’ll be back later.”
“Yes, Commander!”
They left the tense situation behind, no longer being watched by locals with all the negative feeling they had been looked at earlier. Meanwhile, they left the central part of the city, approaching one of the local frontiers, where, in five minutes, according to Vareth, they would reach the village where Theloria had recently been living.
Halfway there, Kong couldn’t help asking, “How are things on the island? I haven’t bothered to research on this journey due to certain issues. The last time I was here was tens of thousands of years ago.”
Vareth looked at Kong, still running ahead of the group. “So you’re from Senior’s time. No wonder. The island has changed a lot since then. The juniors of the island’s masters at that time are the current rulers of Red Enclave. Some of the old masters are no longer in this world, while some are no longer involved in worldly affairs. However, the rules and customs have remained the same since then. If you’re going to spend some time on the island, you’ll feel familiar with the area, even after this time away, Senior.”
“I see.” Kong looked at Vicente, apparently in a good mood. “Well, I was afraid I wouldn’t find Theloria here. Luckily, she hasn’t gone ahead with her old plans.”
’So you know about senior’s plans?’ Vareth was impressed, but said nothing else for the moment.
Silence lasted for the following interval until they reached a practically bare mountain, where only in its peak was there anything other than the black rock that covered it for tens of square kilometers.
When they passed a certain threshold on the way to Theloria’s home, they all felt as if they had entered a unique atmosphere, their senses suddenly working as the world around them changed in their eyes.
Vicente narrowed his eyes in surprise, seeing that, even at his current level, he could not escape the spell of the succubus behind this territory. But unlike Larissa and Rex, who immediately found themselves in a spa paradise, surrounded by various beauties from the succubus clan dancing for them, Vicente only found himself in Theloria’s imaginary universe, where the sky was not black, but light violet, with light pink flowers stretching across the horizon.
At the top of the mountain was a wooden house, pearly white, unblemished by any dust or mark of imperfection.
Kong also dealt well with Theloria’s powers, while Vareth bowed his head as he made a gesture of greeting toward the residence under the gazes of the dragon and human.
“Senior Theloria, this humble one brings to your residence the dragon Kong and the human Vicente. They’re looking for you,” said the demon at the head of the group before a hoarse voice resounded from inside the little house.
“Oh? Did you said Kong?”
