Ye Xuan looked at Liu Yun and added, "Younger Sister Liu, we decided to let you hold the crystal cores. Although I know how to use the crystal cores, I don’t really need them for now. With my current strength, it’s more than enough to deal with the zombies."

Listening to what he said, Liu Yun thought for a moment.

A few seconds passed before she responded, "Very well. I can help you guys keep the crystal cores for now. However, Elder Brother Ye should keep some, just in case you need them to replenish your energy in battle."

"Alright," Ye Xuan agreed.

After they finished their mung bean jelly, Liu Yun put the plastic bowls into her Dimensional Space. The moment they went inside, the bowls disappeared.

Seeing this, Liu Yun raised her brows and thought, ’Does my Dimensional Space have an automatic function to recycle trash?’

Smiling slightly, she shook her head and put the matter to the back of her mind. Taking out the plastic bag containing the crystal cores from her pocket, Liu Yun took out twenty crystal cores and placed them in front of Ye Xuan.

"Elder Brother Ye, you keep these twenty crystal cores. As for the rest, I will keep them for you guys for now. Just let me know whenever you guys need them."

"Got it." The others replied at the same time.

After finishing the division of the crystal cores, they quickly packed up and went back to the central delivery hub to hunt for more crystal cores.

While they were busy collecting crystal cores, in one of the apartments located in the inner ring of Lie Huo Military Base, Liu Ruyan was biting her long nails in annoyance as she sat on her bed.

Looking at her status displayed on the virtual screen floating in front of her, she gritted her teeth and asked, "System, what’s wrong here?"

At her question, the blue cat smiled sweetly and said, "Host, you need to work harder."

Angered by her System’s answer, Liu Ruyan pointed at the Luck Value and said angrily, "You still dare to tell me to work harder?! Don’t you know how hard I have been working these days?!"

Grabbing the blue cat’s body, she forced it to face the virtual screen and screamed, "Look! Look at the Luck Value! Not only has it not increased since we returned from the last mission, but it’s even decreasing!"

Slipping out of Liu Ruyan’s grip, the blue cat lazily groomed its messy fur.

Glancing at Liu Ruyan, it calmly said, "Host, you can’t blame this System. The connection has been restored, and the virus has been cleared. If the Luck Value is decreasing, then the problem should lie in your control over the target’s emotions."

Hearing this, Liu Ruyan paused and fell into deep thought. After a long moment of silence, she stood up from her bed.

Seeing this, the blue cat asked curiously, "Host, where are you going?"

Glancing at it, Liu Ruyan replied, "Didn’t you say that the problem lies in my control over Ye Jin’s emotions?"

The blue cat nodded in response. "That’s right."

Opening the door, Liu Ruyan added, "Then I’m going to find out if the fault is really my lack of control."

The blue cat raised its brows slightly, then yawned and lazily said, "Good luck, Host. I’m going back to sleep."

Without waiting for Liu Ruyan’s response, the blue cat disappeared from the room.

"Useless." Liu Ruyan scoffed, then left the apartment to find Ye Jin.

While Liu Ruyan was looking for him, Ye Jin was reporting the results of their last mission to his father.

Sitting on the couch, he looked at his father, who was sitting in the main seat, and said, "Father, now that we’ve lost the thing, should we just confront the Ruan family directly?"

Raising his hand, Ye Hongde calmly replied, "No. With our current strength, we can’t confront the Ruan family head-on."

Hearing this, Ye Jin frowned. "Then what should we do now?"

Ye Hongde thought for a moment, then stood up and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Looking down at the survivors below, he fell into silence.

After a long moment, he opened his lips and asked, "Have you found out what is happening with the new base commander?"

Being asked this, Ye Jin clenched his fists and replied, "Not yet. Our people couldn’t even get close to the Base Commander’s house, let alone find out what he is doing inside."

Listening to his short report, Ye Hongde muttered, "Something is fishy."

Overhearing his father’s words, Ye Jin asked, "Father, do you suspect something?"

"Mhm." Ye Hongde hummed, then turned to look at his son. "A Jin, go and search for anyone who has ever seen this new base commander. I want to know what he and the military are hiding from the public."

"Yes, Father," Ye Jin replied, then stood up.

Before he could take a step, someone knocked on the door.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Come in," Ye Hongde said.

As the door swung open, a servant walked in and bowed to Ye Hongde. "Old Master, Miss Liu is here. She is requesting to see the Young Master."

Hearing this, Ye Hongde waved his hand and said, "Go and deal with your woman."

"Yes, Father," Ye Jin replied, then left the spacious study room, followed by the servant.

After the door closed behind them, Ye Hongde thoughtfully looked at the cloudy sky covered by a thin layer of gray fog.

"I wonder what they are hiding."

Leaving his father’s study room, Ye Jin went downstairs. When he saw Liu Ruyan sitting on the luxurious couch, he smiled and gently asked, "Yan Yan, have you been waiting long?"

Liu Ruyan placed the cup of tea she had been drinking on the low table in front of her, then turned around and smiled at Ye Jin. Standing up from the couch, she walked toward him.

Opening his arms, Ye Jin hugged her, then kissed her forehead.
