Chapter 126: Team Fight

Stepping into the central delivery hub once more, Liu Yun became more vigilant than before. However, this time, she didn’t feel that cold gaze or have any bad premonition.

Following closely behind Ye Xuan, her fingers tightened around her wooden stick as she called out to the System.

[System, please help me scan this area. See if He Lin is around or not.]

Receiving her command, the System’s mechanical voice rang in her mind.

[Scanning in progress.]

Thirty seconds later, a notification came.

Ding!

[Detecting Level 0 Zombie x 239. Distance: 50 meters to the west. He Lin was not found.]

Liu Yun listened to the notification, then took a step closer to Ye Xuan. Lowering her voice, she whispered, "Elder Brother Ye, I sense some zombies to the west."

Hearing this, Ye Xuan paused in his steps. Glancing back at Liu Yun, he asked, "Do you know how many there are?"

Liu Yun nodded. "More than 200 zombies."

"Are you sure?" Ye Xuan asked once more.

"Yes."

Looking into her clear eyes, Ye Xuan pressed the communication device on his left ear and said, "Captain Gu, my team will be heading west. Let’s meet outside later."

Two seconds later, Gu Lingjian’s voice came through the communication device. "Roger that."

Looking at his brothers, Ye Xuan gestured for them to follow him toward the west. After separating from Gu Lingjian’s team, it didn’t take long for them to see the first group of zombies roaming nearby.

Liu Yun watched the zombies walking like brainless, sleepy drunkards and heard Ye Xuan say, "I’m going to handle the six zombies on the left. Zuancheng and Sixun will handle the two zombies in the middle."

Glancing at Liu Yun, he added, "Zhenwei and Younger Sister Liu will handle the last zombie on the right."

The four of them nodded and replied at the same time, "Got it."

As the only person in their team who had awakened a combat ability, Ye Xuan naturally took responsibility for killing more zombies than the others.

Raising his fingers, he counted, "We will charge at the zombies in 3... 2... 1!"

The second he finished the countdown, the five of them rushed toward the zombies. Splitting into three teams, they raised their weapons and fought the zombies at the same time.

Alerted by their footsteps, the zombies turned toward them. The second the zombies smelled the scent of human flesh, they let out roars and became agitated.

"Roar!"

Facing the incoming zombie, Liu Yun clenched her wooden stick, then bravely rushed forward. Running beside her, Gu Zhenwei raised his baseball bat and swung it at the zombie’s head.

Bam!

Receiving Gu Zhenwei’s attack directly on the head, the zombie swayed and was forced to take several steps backward.

Seeing this opening, Liu Yun stabbed the zombie in the eye with her wooden stick.

Stab!

"Roar!" The zombie roared in anger, then flailed its hands wildly.

Afraid of being scratched by the zombie’s long nails, Liu Yun had no choice but to let go of her wooden stick.

Seeing this, Gu Zhenwei’s eyes flickered as he rushed forward and grabbed the wooden stick. Without hesitation, he pulled it out, then stabbed it into the zombie’s other eye.

Stab!

"Roar!"

Sensing something hard inside the zombie’s head, Gu Zhenwei clenched his jaw as he increased his strength.

This time, the zombie suddenly stopped moving. A second later, it fell backward to the ground.

Thud!

Panting heavily, Liu Yun approached the zombie’s corpse, then pulled out her wooden stick. For the first time since the Beginner Protection Shield disappeared, Liu Yun had fought a zombie directly.

Turning around, she quickly searched for Ye Xuan, Qiu Sixun, and Lan Zuancheng. Before she could go and help them, Liu Yun saw that the three of them were already cracking open the zombies’ heads like watermelons.

She sighed softly and thought, ’Compared to them, I’m still too weak. I need to improve my strength and combat ability as soon as possible.’

While she was thinking, Gu Zhenwei stirred the head of the zombie they had just killed, then dug out a crystal core.

Picking up the crystal core, he grinned and said, "Younger Sister Liu, we are very lucky to find a crystal core by killing only one zombie."

When he said this, Liu Yun turned to look at him and gave him a thumbs-up.

After the team finished checking the zombies’ heads, they gathered around and reported the results.

"We found one crystal core," Gu Zhenwei said.

Qiu Sixun shook his head and said, "There’s no crystal core inside either of those two zombies’ heads."

After he said that, the four of them looked at Ye Xuan.

Ye Xuan shook his head. "None."

Seeing that they had found only one crystal core from nine zombies’ heads, Ye Xuan said, "Let’s continue."

"Alright."

After handing the crystal core to Ye Xuan, the team continued searching for zombies.

Two minutes later, they saw another small group of zombies. This time, there were more than twenty zombies roaming nearby.

Ye Xuan thought for a moment, then said, "There are more zombies this time. To be safe, Younger Sister Liu will stay with me. Sixun, Zuancheng, and Zhenwei, the three of you will fight together."

"Yes, Brother Xuan."

Looking at Liu Yun, Ye Xuan added, "Younger Sister Liu, your task is to dig out the crystal cores."

Liu Yun nodded. "Understood."

After dividing the teams, Ye Xuan said, "Let’s go."

Coming out of their hiding place, the five of them quickly divided into two teams.

"Don’t stay too close or too far from me," Ye Xuan reminded her, then charged toward the nearest zombie.

Seeing that the other three were already engaged in battle, Liu Yun vigilantly observed the surroundings while keeping her eyes on them. Just in case they needed help, she might be able to save them—although the chance was low.

Without Liu Yun nearby, Ye Xuan could use his spatial-element ability freely.

Charging toward the zombies, he controlled his ability and ripped the space around the zombies’ necks. In an instant, the zombies’ heads were separated from their necks.

Thud! Thud! Thud!
