Chapter 84: 84:I’m her husband, youngest husband

Alan was staring at Delilah with an annoyed expression on his face. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Raymond arrived.

"What happened?" he asked. Seeing Delilah’s teary eyes and Alan shirtless on the bed, his brows knitted tightly together immediately. Then, his gaze fell on Nova, who was still dressed with only her back zipper down.

"Don’t tell me Alan cheated on my wife with my sister," he thought. His eyes widened, and his gaze turned murderous instantly. The air in the room thickened into a volatile, deadly pressure, the tension snapping tight like a coiled wire ready to break.

Hearing Raymond’s voice, Delilah shivered. "Bro... brother, it wasn’t sister-in-law," she defended immediately.

Raymond was confused. The lethal hostility in his eyes faltered into bewilderment. "What’s going on here?" he asked, completely confused.

Nova sighed helplessly.

"Never been in such a situation before," Anah commented, holding back her laughter in Nova’s mind.

"I can swear that I have never been in this kind of situation before," Nova replied inwardly, looking helpless.

"Solve it, dear," Anah replied, finding it difficult to control her laughter.

Alan gritted his teeth together and stood up. "Take your sister away from here. She came in when Snow and I were together and started thinking wild," he said.

Raymond breathed a sigh of relief, finally understanding the situation. The suffocating, murderous tension rapidly dissolved, replaced by a deep awkwardness. "Tsk, you go out first." He grabbed Delilah’s hand and pulled her out.

"Give me the room card," he said.

Delilah held the card tightly. "Brother, you can’t hit sister-in-law! She was forced by him, you should hit the man instead!" she said.

Raymond sighed and snatched the card away from her. "Quit talking and leave," he said, and closed the door shut.

Delilah clenched her fists tightly in worry. "What if.... what if brother is really angry and hits sister-in-law? No, I should get mum and dad to stop him," she said, and immediately rushed back to the hall.

After half an hour, Delilah arrived with Mrs. Thomas and Mr. Thomas. "Mum, brother is inside with them," she said.

Mrs. Thomas immediately knocked on the door. "Open the door, Raymond! Don’t injure my daughter-in-law, we can settle this matter with words!"

"Listen to your mother, Ray. Open the door," Mr. Thomas knocked on the door as well in worry.

Raymond opened the door and stared at his panicking family. "Why are you here, Mum?" he said calmly.

"Where’s my daughter-in-law?" Mrs. Thomas questioned immediately and pushed Raymond aside. Entering the room, she found Nova lying on the bed, her eyes closed.

Mrs. Thomas glared at Raymond fiercely. "What did you do to her? Even if you are an officer, you can’t just act crazily. How can you hit her!" she shouted in fury.

"Sister-in-law!" Delilah cried and rushed to the bed. "Please wake up, sister-in-law!" she cried bitterly, holding Nova’s hand.

"Mum... it’s... it’s not what you think." Raymond was finding it difficult to explain himself.

"Your sister already explained everything to us. It’s your problem for not being able to please your wife, you can’t expect her to become a widow for you. But look at what you did, you hit her until she’s unconscious now," Mr. Thomas gritted his teeth together, not knowing what to do.

Alan, who was watching the scene on the other side, had his jaw slightly opened. "I think there’s a huge misunderstanding here," he commented.

"Who are you?" Mrs. Thomas questioned coldly.

"Ah, I’m Snow’s husband too. Snow is tired, so she’s sleeping right now," Alan replied.

"I didn’t hit her. How could I bear to hit my woman? She’s just tired and sleeping," Raymond added, finally getting to explain himself.

The room was silent, and everyone exchanged glances. "Really?" the three questioned in suspicion.

Raymond and Alan nodded in confirmation.

"This is wrong. Why is she not waking up despite all the shouting? If she’s sleeping, she would have woken up long ago," Mrs. Thomas commented.

Raymond rubbed his nose lightly. "Wifey... has a unique constitution. Once she’s asleep, she won’t wake up easily unless she’s willing, no matter how loud the surroundings are," he explained.

"You are not making things up, are you?" Delilah asked, casting a suspicious gaze at Raymond.

Raymond sighed. "I’m serious," he replied.

"That won’t do," Mrs. Thomas replied, still not convinced. "Delilah, go and fetch the doctor," she ordered.

Delilah nodded and immediately rushed out.

Mrs. Thomas stared at Nova, then she seemed to have thought of something and glared at Alan. "What did you say your relationship with my daughter-in-law is again?" she asked, her eyes widening.

"I’m her husband, youngest husband," Alan replied, emphasizing the word youngest.

"Do you have to be so clear?" Raymond commented under his breath, gritting his teeth together.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas exchanged glances of shock and stared at Raymond with slightly opened mouths.

"You... are aware?" they asked Raymond in unison.

Raymond nodded. "We are all good, Mum. You don’t have to panic," he said.

Mrs. Thomas’s eyes widened. "My daughter-in-law is so good," she thought, chuckling. "You should have explained before," she added.

Delilah arrived with the doctor. "Mum, the doctor is here," she announced, and quickly guided the doctor to check Nova.

Cassian arrived. Seeing the doctor enter the room, his brows knitted, and he immediately rushed in. "What happened to my wife?" he questioned, his voice cold as he rushed to Nova’s side immediately, holding her hand.

Mr. Thomas blinked repeatedly. "Did he just call my daughter-in-law his wife?" he thought, staring at Raymond.

Mrs. Thomas was equally stunned. "So my daughter-in-law has three husbands? This..." She stared at Raymond as well.

Delilah stared at Cassian with knitted brows. "What’s going on here?" she thought, and stared at Raymond as well.

The silence that followed was entirely suffocating. The air in the room grew thick, heavy with unsaid words and spinning gears as Mr. and Mrs. Thomas tried to process the absurdity of the situation.

Every breath sounded unnaturally loud. Alan stood there with unapologetic defiance, his casual posture clashing violently with the freezing aura radiating from Cassian, whose icy, murderous glare swept across the room like a physical blow.

Caught between the chaotic energy of the two men, Raymond rubbed his temples, visibly radiating exhaustion as he bore the scorching, bewildered stares of his parents and sister. The room felt like a powder keg with a lit fuse, the awkwardness so palpable and highly strung that a single pin drop could have shattered the atmosphere completely.

The doctor examined Nova and turned to Mrs. Thomas. "She is perfectly fine. She’s just sleeping, nothing is wrong with her," the doctor explained.

Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief. "That’s good, that’s good," Mr. Thomas murmured, patting his chest, finally at ease.

Cassian stared at Raymond and Alan. "What happened? Why did you call the doctor?" he asked.

"Alan caused all this," Raymond replied simply.

Cassian’s gaze fell on Alan.

Alan scratched the back of his head. "It’s not entirely me. Raymond’s sister caused the chaos," he said.

Delilah pointed at herself in disbelief. "What do you mean I caused the chaos? You were obviously the one forcing yourself on my sister-in-law!" she shouted in rage.

Mrs. Thomas smiled awkwardly and held Delilah’s hand. "Hehe, you three should talk. We will leave first," she said, and pulled Delilah along with her and her husband.
