System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession
Chapter 59: You should be mindful of how you speak to my husband
"What? I can’t have a girlfriend anymore?" Alex replied in a flat tone.
"I was just surprised there’s actually a girl you can introduce as your girlfriend and not just a plaything," the voice replied.
"Is there any alternative?" Alex asked, ignoring his statement.
"Since it’s for a girl, there is an alternative. I will send someone to deliver it to you. But don’t spray too much, or you will end up killing her. Just spray a little on a handkerchief and place it beside her, that’s enough to make her sleep for twenty to twenty-one hours," the voice explained.
"Good, I will be expecting it," Alex replied.
"How long do you plan to last with this girlfriend of yours? I’m rather curious."
"Don’t worry, I will definitely invite you to our wedding," Alex replied.
"Eh, you don’t mean it."
"Don’t come if I send you an invitation," Alex replied and ended the call. He stared at the still-sleeping Nova, a warm smile spreading across his face.
"Once I handle everything tonight, I will definitely give you a grand wedding and make you the happiest woman on earth," he murmured.
Shortly after, there was a knock on the door. Alex went over and opened it.
"Young Master, your delivery." The maid bowed respectfully, stretching out a small, packaged box to Alex.
Alex nodded, took the box from her, and closed the door. He walked back to the bedside, put the box down, and then went to his wardrobe, opening it to bring out a clean white handkerchief.
He sat on the bed and tore the box open, bringing out a small-sized spray bottle. As instructed, he sprayed it once on the handkerchief and placed it right beside Nova’s nose so that she would inhale the fumes.
He packed the box back up, hiding it in his coat, and then sat back beside Nova. He waited for a few hours, watching her breathing slow, before lightly tapping her shoulder to confirm if everything was working.
"Beauty... Beauty," he called softly.
"Mhm," Nova hummed, fluttering her eyes open. "S... Savior," she murmured in a low, drowsy voice, closing her eyes again and falling completely limp against the pillows.
Alex breathed out a heavy sigh of relief. "Seems like the spray is safe," he murmured, standing up. "You are dead this time, Edward," he added darkly. He grabbed the room key from the nightstand, exited the room, and locked the heavy door shut behind him.
As soon as the lock clicked, Nova opened her eyes and sat straight up on the bed, stretching her arms. Her gaze fell on the handkerchief, and a light, devilish smirk appeared on her lips.
"To actually think you can make me sleep with this... what a joke," she murmured. She stood up, stepped away from the bed, and scanned the entire room.
Her gaze zeroed in on the wardrobe, and suddenly, a blue, translucent screen materialized in front of her.
[Ding!]
[Secret chamber entrance confirmed, Wardrobe entrance.]
Nova walked closer to the massive wardrobe and opened it. Seeing it full of clothes, she shoved them roughly to one side. Hidden in the dark wood paneling, she spotted a tiny, dot-like button, barely noticeable to the naked eye.
Nova scanned it, verifying its function. "It’s actually a fingerprint lock," she murmured.
"Let me do it," Anah’s voice echoed as she materialized out of thin air beside Nova. She stared at the little dot and reached her thumb out toward it.
Immediately, a system chime echoed, and the foggy face in Anah’s eyes glowed softly in the dim light.
"Fingerprint borrowing activated. Target fingerprint borrowing in progress. Target fingerprint borrowing completed. Access successful."
With that, Anah pressed her thumb onto the little dot. As expected, it glowed softly, accepting the biometric data.
Shortly after the glow dimmed, a sudden, deep mechanical hum vibrated through the floorboards. The false back of the wardrobe seamlessly detached and slid forward, sealing them inside a small, metallic cubicle. With a stomach-dropping lurch, the hidden elevator plummeted into the pitch-black abyss. Cold, stale air rushed past them as they descended rapidly, the heavy tension of the unknown pressing against their skin. The descent was entirely soundless, save for the low, predatory whir of the gears sliding them deeper underground.
With a soft hiss, the elevator doors finally slid open, revealing a massive, blindingly lit subterranean hall.
The atmosphere inside was instantly suffocating, drenched in the metallic, sickening scent of blood and despair. The air was thick and heavy, charged with a horrifying, palpable dread that clung to the skin. Lined up along the walls on both sides were several men, heavily chained to the freezing concrete floor. They were covered in blood from head to toe, slumping forward like broken puppets with their heads lowered in defeat. The macabre arrangement left only a narrow, pristine walkway down the center.
Nova stared at the men, her expression completely blank as she noticed a gruesome detail—all of them had their tongues brutally cut out. They couldn’t speak anymore.
"Mhm... not bad," Nova murmured, her voice slicing coldly through the terrifying stillness.
She walked down the grim pathway until she arrived at the center of the main hall. There, resting on a pedestal, was a large glass box filled with liquid. Inside the box floated a breathtaking necklace.
It was a deep, mesmerizing blue, intricately crafted entirely from crystals. Seeing it, Nova’s eyes widened slightly. "This stuff is quite beautiful," she thought, stepping closer to the glass.
"That’s what you need to take, Nova. But be careful, there’s an alarm bug embedded in it. If you touch it recklessly, it will not only alert Alex, but it will also trigger these people to attack you," Anah warned.
Nova nodded. "I noticed that as well, but... this is still child’s play," she murmured.
Moving with blinding speed, she plunged her hand directly into the water and started shaking it violently. The water churned and spiraled so aggressively that the necklace danced wildly inside the tank—until a tiny, mechanical object detached itself from the crystals and sank.
Nova stopped stirring the water and pulled the necklace out. She stared at it, briefly lost in thought. "It—"
Before Nova could finish her statement, the necklace vanished from her hand, secured into the system’s inventory.
"Leave here, there’s nothing else to do here," Anah commented.
Nova was silent for a while, her brows knitted tightly. The oppressive tension of the underground vault seemed to ripple with unseen danger. She was about to turn and walk away when a shockingly familiar voice called out to her, making her snap her head toward the shadowy distance.
"Wifey!"
Nova looked up, her eyes landing on Raymond standing there. She looked just behind him, noticing another man staring at her with an expression of pure shock.
A warm, genuine smile instantly melted the coldness on Nova’s lips as she walked closer to Raymond. "Why are you here, Hubby?" she asked softly.
"Ray, she’s your wife?" the man behind Raymond asked, his tone thick with disbelief.
Raymond nodded, stepping forward and protectively taking Nova’s hand. "She... she must have gotten lost..."
Before he could finish his excuse, the man cut in.
"Lost? Did you forget this is the Sunny family’s territory?" the man questioned, his brows knitted together tightly as he stared at Nova with deep, probing suspicion in his eyes.
Nova glanced at the man with a highly displeased expression on her face. "Target information," she thought.
Immediately, the man’s information was displayed on a translucent blue screen in front of her.
[Ding!]
[Target information downloaded.]

[Note: He is a loyal friend of Raymond. Though he holds the same rank as Raymond, he has the clearance to send secret reports back to their circle. Therefore, Raymond is wary of him and does not want him to know anything about you.]
"Oh," Nova chuckled lightly, an icy edge laced beneath her tone. "You should be mindful of how you speak to my husband, Mr. Logan."
Nova’s gaze turned instantly, lethally cold, freezing the very air between them.
