System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession
Chapter 43: The gun is innocent, ugly bitch!
"You are not feeling pain anymore?" Nova said, raising an eyebrow.
Cassian, recalling that he was still acting, immediately threw himself into Nova’s embrace. "It still hurts... but if you kiss me, it won’t hurt anymore," he whispered.
Alan snorted in annoyance behind them.
Nova laughed and gently pulled away, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips, but Cassian wasn’t ready to let the rare opportunity slip by.
He held her firmly against him with one hand, while his other hand supported the back of her head. Pulling her body flush against his, he deepened the kiss into a hot, passionate one.
Alan, who was watching from behind, clenched his fists tightly together, taking in a sharp, deep breath in order to calm his burning jealousy. "Snow is mine as well," he thought, taking in another unsteady breath.
Cassian continued to kiss her, only releasing Nova when he noticed she was entirely out of breath. As he finally let her go, he glanced back and cast a provocative smirk at Alan, as if to say, ’I still have the upper hand here, little boy’.
Alan sent him a murderous glare before looking away angrily.
Nova didn’t miss their childish behavior and laughed lightly. "Alright, I have something to do right now. Let Alan stay with you for now, okay?" she said.
Before Nova could move, Cassian immediately held Nova’s arm firmly. "Are you going to him? Accompany me more, darling. When he’s done with whatever he’s doing, he will come over," he said in a pleading tone.
Nova smiled. "Jealous," she muttered, and Cassian avoided eye contact with her, making her laugh. "I’m visiting a girl. Don’t worry, I’ll be back tonight," she promised.
Cassian hesitated for a while before nodding, finally letting go of Nova’s arm. "Alright then," he said. "I’ll be waiting for you," he added, making sure Nova would remember to return.
Nova smiled and nodded. Just as she turned around, her warm smile vanished, replaced by a devilish, chilling grin as she stepped out of the hospital. With that smile, there was no doubt—someone in this world was completely out of luck.
..... Evening .....
At a small house, a shadowy figure rushed in at an unseen speed through an open window, slipping silently into the bedroom. The bedroom light flashed on, revealing Nova.
She was sitting on the well-decorated bed with red petals scattered across it. Positioned seductively, one leg was crossed over the other, perfectly showcasing her tempting beauty and her flawless perfect body shape.
She calmly picked up one red petal from the bed, gently playing with it between her fingers as she waited for the owner of the house.
Not long after, the bedroom door opened, and a lady with long black hair, dressed in a police uniform, came into view. It was Ruby. As soon as she spotted Nova sitting there and saw the open bedroom window, she quickly drew her gun, pointing it directly at Nova’s chest.
"Who are you? How did you enter my house?" she questioned, her guard raised immediately.
Nova smiled harmlessly, though the air in the room instantly grew heavy. "Not nice. You shouldn’t point a gun at a guest, that’s a lack of manners. I’m not the police, I don’t take jokes with guns," she replied. Her voice was smooth and calm, lacking any obvious threat, making her look completely defenseless.
Ruby stared longer at Nova. "Such a sinful beauty," she thought, her heart racing with a messy mixture of jealousy, rage, envy, and anger. She noticed Nova looked harmless, yet every single instinct within her was screaming danger, urging her to turn around and run. The silence in the room felt suffocating.
The more she looked at Nova, the more harmless she appeared, and this only made Ruby feel more uneasy—especially the way Nova was sitting casually on the bed, as if she were the absolute master of the room.
"You break into a police officer’s house, acting like the master here. Don’t you know you have violated the law and you can be sentenced to five years in prison!" Ruby snapped, her grip tightening on the gun as she kept it aimed at Nova.
Nova chuckled softly, a sound that sent a quiet thrill of terror through the room. "Ugly and overconfident," she commented.
"Who are you calling ugly!" Ruby questioned angrily.
Nova picked up another petal, gently blowing it off her palm. "We are the only two here. I’m not the ugly one, so obviously, it’s you," she replied, not even bothering to spare Ruby a glance.
Ruby gritted her teeth together, her pulse pounding in her ears. "How did you get into my house?" she questioned.
Nova fell completely silent. The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly. "The question you should be asking now is... why am I here," she replied. Her voice turned instantly cold, and a dark, murderous aura flooded the room, pressing heavily against Ruby’s chest.
Ruby could feel her whole body turn cold. Her hands began to shiver violently against the gun she was holding. "Why... why are you in my house?" she asked, desperately trying to keep her voice steady.
"Mhm... of course... to take your life," Nova replied. A chilling, musical laughter followed as she stood up from the bed, slowly taking a step forward. The air crackled with intense danger.
Ruby took a terrified step back, both hands gripping her gun. "You are really bold! Believe it or not, the police are already on their way. Daring to threaten an officer, you are doomed," she stuttered. Her hand slid down toward her waist, intending to press the emergency alarm signal.
But before her fingers could even brush it, the small alarm device she was reaching for suddenly appeared right in Nova’s hand.
"You seem to have dropped that statement a little too early," Nova said, her beautiful blue eyes turning a glowing, bloody red. "You have no chance to call for help," she added. With a sickening crunch, she crushed the device into dust with her bare hand, her dark smile widening.
Ruby’s body shivered uncontrollably, seeing the unnatural force used to crush the solid object. "Is... is she even human?" she thought, absolutely terrified. "Take one more step forward and I will shoot you!" she exclaimed in blind panic.
"Mhm." Nova smiled, and in the blink of an eye, she completely vanished.
A split second later, she reappeared sideways, directly behind Ruby. "The gun is innocent, ugly bitch!" she commented.
Before Ruby could even react or turn around, Nova delivered a blindingly fast, heavy kick to her side. The massive force sent Ruby flying across the room, crashing brutally against the wall on the other side of the bed as the gun flew out of her hands.
Ruby hit her head heavily against the wall. A sharp, painful groan escaped her mouth, and warm blood trickled down the corner of her lips. Gasping for air, she forced herself to stand up, watching as Nova stood perfectly still, staring at her with that same dark, thrilling smile on her lips.
"This lady... she isn’t as simple as she looks," Ruby thought, clenching her fists tightly as she quickly shifted her body, positioning herself for a brutal fight.
"This lady... I believe we have never met before. Why hold so much of a grudge against me?" Ruby questioned, blood trickling down toward her eyes from where she had hit her head.
Nova smiled harmlessly, though her eyes were cold with murder. "We’ve never met before... but you shouldn’t have gone against my husband," she replied.
"Your husband?" Ruby repeated, entirely confused. "Who is your husband?" she asked.
"Leave the talking... let’s warm up," Nova replied, her tone dripping with deadly excitement.
