System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession
Chapter 36: I’m not an angel
Alan was stunned. "She..."
"Yeah. You weren’t aware she’s poisoned?" Nova stared at Alan, whose face had turned pale.
"Let’s go to her. I can cure her," Nova offered.
Alan immediately hugged Nova tightly, tears welling up in his eyes. "Thank you," he whispered.
Nova smiled lightly and gently patted his hair.
Alan pulled back and walked over to the box, unboxing it to reveal the neatly packed clothes inside.
Nova glanced at the clothing and noticed that the majority of them were white. Her brows knitted slightly. "You like white?" she asked.
Alan shook his head. "I just think white will look very good on you, so I bought so many white clothes for you," he replied.
Nova was silent for a while. "I love red and black," she commented.
Alan stared at her, his gaze wandering over her body. "Then you can add white to your favorites. Trust me, you will look so pretty in white, just like an angel," he replied.
"I’m not an angel," Nova replied.
"You’re a saint then," Alan replied.
"I’m the complete opposite," Nova argued, taking another spoonful of food into her mouth.
Alan laughed. "How are you the opposite? Here, try this pair." He picked out a set of folded white clothes in a package and placed it beside her.
Nova continued eating. "The white color is attacking my eyes," she murmured.
"Oh, hold on," Alan commented. He went over to his drawer, brought out a glasses case, and opened it. Pulling out a pair of silver-framed glasses, he gently placed them onto Nova’s face. "How’s that?" he asked.
Nova raised her head and stared at Alan with a dumbfounded expression. She was so shocked that she couldn’t find the right words to say.
"Oh, you look even more like an angel with glasses on. I said it—you’re an angel," Alan praised, giggling.
Nova gritted her teeth together and forced a smile onto her lips. "You are definitely an enemy to my color preference," she murmured, slightly adjusting the glasses before continuing to eat.
"Snow, can you please wear this white one?" Alan asked, grabbing Nova’s sleeve and acting cute.
Nova glanced at him, finding his pouty expression completely irresistible. She sighed. "Fine," she agreed, taking the last bite of her food and picking up the dress to change.
Seeing Nova preparing to undress right in front of him, Alan’s heart hammered frantically against his ribs. He quickly spun around, his back facing Nova, his face flushing a deep, fiery red as he held his breath. "I... I’ll turn around!"
Nova chuckled, the soft, sultry sound echoing in the room. She peeled off his oversized shirt, letting the fabric slide down her smooth skin before slipping into the crisp white outfit. She put on a short white crop top that hugged her chest perfectly, pairing it with a beautiful pleated short white skirt that exposed just a tempting sliver of her smooth, flat waistline.
Combined with the silver glasses sitting delicately on the bridge of her nose, she radiated a breathtaking mix of pure innocence and dangerous temptation—like a strict, alluring teacher wrapped inside a delicate schoolgirl facade.
"Alright, I’m done," Nova commented, adjusting the glasses on her face with a slender finger.
Alan slowly turned around, his eyes locking onto Nova—and instantly, his breath hitched. His eyes widened in absolute shock, his heart pounding so wildly against his chest he thought it might burst. The sight of her took all the air from his lungs. Her pale skin against the crisp white fabric was so tantalizing that heat rushed straight to his head, and a tiny trickle of blood slowly dripped from his nose as he swallowed hard.
Nova’s lips curled into a slow, seductive smile. Stepping closer, her hips swaying gently, she closed the distance between them until her warmth enveloped him. She reached up with a delicate thumb, gently wiping away the nosebleed.
"Look at you, getting a nosebleed already," she whispered, her breath ghosting against his ear, thick with pure seduction.
Alan felt his knees grow weak. His heart was practically jumping out of his chest as he blinked twice, desperately trying to pull himself back to reality.
"You... you are really beautiful, Snow," Alan commented, finding it impossible to tear his gaze away from her. "I told you! White definitely looks too good on you. Look at you... you look so divine," he praised with breathless excitement.
Nova frowned slightly. "Am I really that good?" she asked.
"Here, come look," Alan commented, gently taking her hand and pulling her toward the full-length mirror so she could see her reflection.
Staring at herself in the glass, Nova’s mouth parted slightly. "I see... white makes me look like an angel, black makes me look like a demoness, and red makes me look like the bloody grim reaper. This white... I actually like it," she thought, a dark, mysterious smile touching her lips.
"Well, I guess the white isn’t bad," she said aloud.
"I told you," Alan commented, tapping lightly on his own lips with a hopeful glance. "You have to reward me," he said.
Nova leaned in and pressed a gentle, lingering kiss onto his lips, smiling lightly against his mouth.
Alan blushed furiously, his heart melting, and immediately rushed over to the rest of the boxes. "Let me arrange your clothes in my wardrobe! We will visit Mum once I’m done," he said, carrying the boxes to the wardrobe and organizing her new clothes inside.
The Halka Mansion
Nova and Alan arrived at the entrance of a quiet bedroom, and Alan knocked lightly on the door.
The door opened, and Mrs. Mira stepped out. Her face was deathly pale, looking as if she had lost a tremendous amount of blood.
"Mum... how... how come you look like this?" Alan was stunned, rushing forward to support his mother’s frail body.
Nova’s brows knitted slightly as she stared at Mrs. Mira’s sickly appearance. "Something’s wrong... she was supposed to live a few more months. How come she looks like she won’t survive tonight?" she thought, taking another close look at her.
"She discovered Kim Halka’s real intentions and found out he has been poisoning her. Her mood has been terrible ever since, which is making the poison spread much faster in her body," Anah’s voice echoed inside Nova’s head.
"Oh, that’s rather interesting," Nova thought.
Mrs. Mira flashed Alan a reassuring smile, then shifted her gaze to Nova. Spotting those striking blue eyes, she recognized her immediately. "You are... that girl, Nova, right?" she murmured in a barely audible voice.
Nova nodded. "My greetings," she commented.
Mrs. Mira smiled weakly. "Can I have a few words with you?" she asked gently.
Nova stared at Alan, who looked worried and panicked, and nodded. Supporting Mrs. Mira inside, she closed the door behind them, leaving Alan waiting anxiously outside.
Inside the room, Nova helped Mrs. Mira sit comfortably on the bed before folding her arms across her chest, staring down at her. "Seems like you have uncovered a harsh secret that’s hard for you to accept," she said.
Mrs. Mira smiled sadly as tears escaped her eyes. "I just found out today that I’ve always loved the wrong man... Kim was never the father of my son. I recognized the wrong person."
Nova’s brows raised in slight surprise. "What’s going on here?" she thought.
