Chapter 133:You seem to miss me badly
Chapter 133: 133:You seem to miss me badly
The hour was late, drowning the living room in shadows. Nova sat on the long couch, her gaze fixed steadily on Anah, who rested silently on the opposite sofa. Up in the room, Cassian and Alan were already asleep.
Nova picked up her phone from the glass table. The screen illuminated the dim room as a message from Raymond popped up. She clicked it, reading the words silently.
"Are you asleep, wifey?"
A gentle smile graced Nova’s lips as she quickly typed her reply.
"No. You’re supposed to be asleep by now. Did you have work to do?"
Almost instantly, her phone vibrated with an incoming call. Her smile widened as she pressed the device to her ear, letting Raymond’s voice wash over her.
"Wifey, I’ve missed you so much," he said, his tone heavy with exhaustion. "I didn’t have work; I just woke up not long ago. I’ve been busy all day without a moment’s rest, and I only just managed to get some sleep this evening."
Nova chuckled softly. "How much longer will it take for you to come back? I’ve missed you, too."
"It’s a little bit tricky over here. I’m not sure when I’ll be coming back just yet, but I’ll inform you the moment I am."
Nova’s expression shifted slightly. "Has anyone approached you? Or have you seen anyone specific? A red-haired guy named Andrew?"
"No," Raymond replied, a hint of confusion in his voice. "What’s the matter?"
"Nothing to worry about. You just might bump into him. He’s harmless, and he can even give you a hand to make things easier so you can come back home early."
"Oh, I haven’t met him. But wifey, I am so happy you are worried about me. I really want to kiss you right now," Raymond said, chuckling deeply.
Nova laughed, the sound light and airy. "Should I come over, then? Send me your location."
"Don’t come," he replied instantly, his voice turning dead serious. "This place is dangerous. I couldn’t bear to let you experience anything terrible here."
"But you are there," Nova murmured, a quiet concern lacing her words. "Are you really doing okay out there?"
"I’m doing fine, don’t worry, wifey," Raymond reassured her with a happy chuckle. "You should get some rest early, okay?"
"Alright. Call me tomorrow when you are free."
"I will, wifey. I love you."
"I love you too, hubby."
The line went dead. The very second the call disconnected, the warmth completely drained from Nova’s face. It was instantly replaced by a suffocating, icy aura that seemed to plunge the room’s temperature below freezing.
"Where is she?" Nova asked, her voice stripped entirely of emotion as she looked at Anah.
"The girl who impersonated you?" Anah replied effortlessly. "If you’re planning to go after her, there’s no need. She’s in the worst possible condition already. Alan didn’t let her off easily."
"As expected of my man," Nova murmured, a dark, dangerous pride flickering in her eyes. "Who was the mastermind?"
Suddenly, a translucent blue screen materialized in the empty air before Nova. A single name was violently carved into the glowing interface: [Trison.]
Nova smiled, idly playing with her fingers. It was a predatory expression. "This Trison guy is really becoming a nuisance. It seems he has lived long enough," she murmured.
"How about we pay him a visit tonight?" Anah commented, a wicked, bloodthirsty smile curving her lips. "Killing under the cover of darkness is always so thrilling."
"Let’s go," Nova chuckled darkly.
In the blink of an eye, Nova, Anah, and the glowing blue screen vanished seamlessly into the night.
Shortly after Nova’s departure, a figure draped in a black trench coat dropped silently from the perimeter wall, his eyes locked onto the grand mansion looming in the dark.
He took a confident step forward, reaching out to touch the heavy iron gates. But before his gloved fingers could even graze the metal, a massive, invisible force violently blew him backward off his feet.
With a faint, electric hum, a shimmering blue energy barrier flared to life, encasing the entire estate.
The man paused, recovering his footing. Frowning, he took another stubborn step toward the gate, determined to force his way in, but the kinetic blowback sent him stumbling once more.
Frustrated, he drew his silenced handgun and fired directly at the lock. The bullet stopped dead in midair, flattening against the invisible barrier before dropping uselessly to the dirt. He fired several more rounds in rapid succession, but every single attempt was repelled.
"What the hell is going on here?" he cursed under his breath. He holstered his weapon and pulled out a secure phone, hastily dialing a number.
"Boss, there seems to be something protecting the mansion," the man reported, his breath visible in the chilled night air. "I can’t get in no matter how hard I try, and there isn’t a single guard or maid in sight."
"Find a way to break in," the voice on the other end ordered coldly. "You must kill him at all costs."
"Boss, I tried shooting the gate down, but the air itself seems bulletproof," he insisted, staring warily at the glowing perimeter.
A long, heavy silence stretched over the line. "And there isn’t a single guard around the premises?"
"Yes, Boss."
"And you can’t get in?"
"That’s right, Boss."
"Retreat," the voice finally commanded. "I will figure out what to do."
The hitman nodded into the dark, immediately ended the call, and melted back into the shadows.
.....
Trison’s grip on his phone tightened until his knuckles turned white. With a furious roar, he hurled the phone in his hand onto the marble floor, shattering it into pieces.
"Damn it!" he snarled, gritting his teeth. "Since when did these guys become so impossible to deal with? Could it be that Nova girl? But Naomi confirmed she wasn’t one of them. Who exactly is she, then?"
"You seem to miss me badly. What a coincidence. I also wanted to see you."
The voice was cold, flat, and absolute. It echoed from directly behind him, instantly freezing the blood in Trison’s veins.
He gasped and whipped around.
There, sitting effortlessly on his velvet armchair with one leg gracefully crossed over the other, was Nova. The room was shrouded in darkness, yet her gaze pierced through the blackness—devilish, radiant, and utterly merciless. The air in the room suddenly felt impossibly heavy, thick with a suffocating, lethal intent that made it hard for Trison to even draw a breath.
Suddenly, the grand chandelier above flared to life, flooding the mansion with blinding light.
Trison stood frozen across the small glass table, staring at Nova with an expression of terror masking as shock.
"How did you get in here?!" he demanded. Instinct took over, and he instantly drew a heavy-caliber handgun from his holster, leveling the barrel squarely at her chest.
Nova didn’t flinch. Instead, she smiled.
It was a smile entirely devoid of warmth—a chilling curl of the lips that promised nothing but agony. Her eyes were pools of abyssal hatred. She looked at Trison not as an armed man, but as a corpse that simply hadn’t realized it was dead yet.
"First, you attacked my Cassian," she stated, her voice dropping to a silken, deadly whisper that echoed off the high ceilings. "And then, you went after my Alan. Tell me... how exactly do you want to die?"
Trison swallowed hard, trying to mask his trembling hand with false bravado. He forced a harsh snort.
"What? You came all the way here to avenge them?" he mocked, adjusting his grip on the weapon. "I didn’t realize they had grown so pathetically weak that they have to hide behind a woman."
Nova remained perfectly still. She merely stared at him, her silent, piercing gaze weighing his soul, casually debating whether to rip his throat out right then and there, or to drag him back and let Cassian and Alan slowly tear him apart.
Misinterpreting her deadly silence for hesitation, a sleazy, arrogant smirk crept onto Trison’s face. The palpable tension seemed to thrill his twisted ego.
"It’s really not fair for such a beautiful lady like you to run errands for weak men," Trison chuckled darkly, his eyes raking over her frame. "How about this? You become my wife, and I will have my men worship you like a goddess. What do you think?"
