Chapter 132: 132:Someone dared to be that brave?"

Linda clenched her fists tightly, her manicured nails biting into her palms as she took a deep, shaky breath. "I... I am going out for a while," she ground out, spinning on her heel and storming out through the heavy double doors.

"Tsk. Curry, do you seriously think the Boss would ever give her a second glance?" one of the men muttered. "That girl holds a lethal grudge. If she ever actually caught his attention, we’d all be doomed."

"Her? With the way she acts? Spare me," Curry scoffed, not looking up from his screens. "Besides, didn’t you hear the Boss? He said he’s already married. She has absolutely zero chance."

"True," Junior commented, leaning against his mop. "I wonder who the Boss’s wife is. She must be from a terrifyingly powerful family."

"I’ve tried tracing her through the boss, but she’s completely off the grid. The Boss hides her flawlessly," Curry replied, his tone laced with professional respect. "It only proves how fiercely protective he is of her. Linda is just living in her own delusional fantasy."

Junior’s eyes suddenly sparked with curiosity. "Call Silas! He’s the Boss’s right-hand man. He has to know who the Lady Boss is."

"Yep! How come I didn’t think of that? You’re getting smarter, Junior," Curry laughed, pulling out his phone to dial Silas’s number.

Evening — The Mansion

Inside the master bedroom, the air was terrifyingly still. The atmospheric pressure had dropped so low it felt suffocating, crackling with an unseen, lethal tension.

Nova stood near the closed door, her eyes radiating a frigid, murderous intent. Anah sat casually at the edge of the plush bed, one leg crossed elegantly over the other, entirely unbothered by the deadly aura filling the room.

"What did you do? I can’t locate that mermaid anywhere," Nova demanded, her voice a dangerous, icy whisper.

"I sent her back to her home planet," Anah replied coolly, casually blowing on her pristine fingernails. "You already beat her half to death. There was no need to end her life."

"She is a threat to my Alan, you know that!" Nova shouted, her composure cracking under a surge of violent frustration.

Anah met her furious gaze calmly. "Calm down. She has been banished; she will never appear in this world again. Furthermore, she actually didn’t have any intention of going after Alan. I verified that before I spared her life."

Nova’s gaze remained fixed on Anah, unblinking. Her face was an expressionless mask that barely concealed a bottomless well of rage.

"However, speaking of Alan..." Anah added casually, "his protective ward was activated a few hours ago. I assume he encountered a lethal threat today, but the barrier did its job. He’s fine."

In a fraction of a second, the space between them vanished.

Nova lunged, her hand snapping around Anah’s throat with bone-crushing speed and force, slamming her backward in the air. "And you dare tell me she had no intention of attacking my Alan?!" Nova snarled, her teeth bared as her blue eyes flared with unhinged wrath.

Anah’s face remained perfectly blank. In a blink, her physical form dissipated like mist from Nova’s iron grip, instantaneously materializing a few feet away beside the nightstand. She folded her arms.

"Can you calm down and use your head?" Anah sighed. "I sent Naomi away before Alan was attacked. It wasn’t the mermaid who ambushed him. It was someone else entirely."

"Who did it?" Nova demanded instantly, the temperature in the room dropping to freezing.

Before Anah could answer, the door handle clicked. The heavy oak door swung open, and Alan walked in.

The suffocating, murderous tension in the room evaporated in a heartbeat.

"Snow," Alan called out softly. The moment he laid eyes on her, the ruthless underworld boss vanished, replaced instantly by a completely soft, clingy persona. He threw himself into Nova’s arms.

Nova’s rage melted away immediately. She wrapped her arms tightly around him, returning the desperate hug. "Baby, are you alright?" she asked, her voice laced with genuine panic. She pulled back slightly, her hands frantically checking his shoulders and chest for any sign of injury.

Alan shook his head, a warm, beaming smile spreading across his lips. "I’m perfectly fine, Snow! But you won’t believe it—someone actually wore a skin disguise of you to try and trick me today," he reported, sulking slightly like a wronged child.

Nova’s eyes darkened for a microsecond. "Wow! Someone dared to be that brave?" she thought, a sadistic, bloody promise taking root in her mind.

"But I immediately saw that it wasn’t you!" Alan continued proudly, grinning from ear to ear like a puppy waiting for praise. "She had so many flaws. I pointed out in a second that she was an imposter."

Nova chuckled, her expression softening completely as she gently stroked his hair. "Recognizing that it wasn’t me in such a short time... baby, you are so sweet. Tell me, what kind of reward do you want for being so smart?"

Alan blushed fiercely. He pointed a finger at Anah, who was still standing by the bed with her arms folded, watching the couple with a look of profound boredom.

"Can you ask her to leave us first?" he mumbled, his face flushed red.

Anah rolled her eyes dramatically. Without a word, she walked past them, pulled open the door, and exited the bedroom, leaving the couple to themselves.

The moment the door clicked shut, Alan wrapped his arms tightly around Nova’s waist, pulling her flush against his body. He captured her lips in a long, desperate, deeply passionate kiss.

"This is the reward I want," he whispered against her mouth, his breathing turning heavy as he stared deeply into her eyes.

Nova let out a low, breathless chuckle, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Baby, you are burning hot again. Are you sure just kissing is all you want?"

"You can give me more," Alan whispered back. He smiled innocently, looking devastatingly handsome and utterly devoted—a stark, almost terrifying contrast to the cold-blooded killer he had been an hour prior.

"Let me wear you out, then," Nova purred, gently pushing him back onto the mattress and climbing over him as she slowly began to undress.

The Living Room

Outside the bedroom, Anah stumbled toward the staircase. Her face was flushed a deep, unnatural crimson.

Because of her unique, intrinsic connection to Nova, a suffocating, overwhelming heat was currently washing over her entire body. Sweat beaded on her forehead and slicked her skin. Her legs trembled so violently she could barely walk, forcing her to grip the iron railing tightly just to keep from collapsing as she descended the stairs.

Cassian had just finished preparing dinner. He stepped out of the kitchen, wiping his hands on a towel, when he caught sight of her. He paused, his brows knitting together as he took in her flushed skin, erratic breathing, and trembling frame.

"What’s wrong with you?" Cassian asked, genuinely confused.

Anah aggressively shook her head, pressing her lips tightly together, absolutely refusing to speak.

"Are you sick? Why are you sweating so much?" Cassian pressed, stepping closer.

Anah opened her mouth to tell him to back off, but her control slipped. A soft, involuntary moan escaped her lips instead.

Cassian’s jaw dropped. He stared at Anah, then slowly lifted his gaze up toward the ceiling—directly toward Nova’s master bedroom. The realization hit him like a freight train. A dark, utterly jealous smirk spread across his lips.

"Don’t tell me it’s exactly what I’m thinking," Cassian said, folding his arms across his chest as he stared at the heavily panting Anah.

Anah glared daggers at him. She unsteadily raised her middle finger right in his face, and with a soft pop of displaced air, she vanished instantly to escape the humiliation.

Left alone on the ground floor, Cassian stared blankly at the empty space on the stairs for a second before his expression twisted into an indignant scowl.

"Wait a damn minute," Cassian muttered, his eyes darting back to the ceiling. "Why is that brat just getting home, and he’s already in bed with my darling?! That isn’t fair! I didn’t get nearly enough time with her at the office!"

Throwing the kitchen towel onto the nearest chair, Cassian bolted up the stairs, sprinting toward Nova’s room immediately.
