Chapter 119: 119:Always flee whenever you hear the name Nova.
Susan hurried along the desolate stretch of Sanity Station Road. The surrounding silence was deafening, the shadows stretching longer as dusk settled. She hugged the briefcase tightly to her chest, her eyes darting around in rising panic as the chilling atmosphere gnawed at her nerves.
"Did I take the wrong road?" she murmured, her voice trembling in the quiet. "This place is too suspicious, and Dad is nowhere to be found. It’s getting dark."
"If I were you, I would drop that briefcase on the ground and run back immediately. Fly out of the country," a rough, gravelly male voice suddenly echoed from behind, rooting her to the spot.
Susan gasped in shock, slowly turning around with her legs shivering beneath her. Standing there was a man dressed entirely in black. A dark medical mask obscured the lower half of his face, and heavily tinted sunglasses completely hid his eyes. The suffocating, hostile aura radiating from him paralyzed her with fear.
"Who... who are you?" she stuttered, her heart hammering against her ribs.
"Ask any more questions and you are dead," the man replied coldly, crossing his arms. "Anyway, the person who sent you here wants you dead."
Susan gulped hard, the terror forcing her hands to uncurl. She placed the briefcase carefully on the ground. "I’m going. I’m going," she stammered, immediately turning and sprinting back the way she came, rushing past him without daring to look over her shoulder.
The man stepped forward and picked up the briefcase, testing its weight in his grip for a moment before glancing back in the direction Susan had fled. "Thankfully, I got here in time. Otherwise... that bastard, Darson. I will definitely remember this," he murmured, pivoting on his heel and walking away into the deepening shadows.
....
Mr. Darson stepped into the cavernous silence of the mansion. He glanced upstairs toward Nova’s room, a sinister, predatory smile creeping across his face.
"It seems Corinthian and David aren’t home," he murmured to himself, the quiet amplifying his twisted intent. "Then... this daughter of mine. I’ll have my fill of her tonight before I leave."
Fueled by vile anticipation, he rushed up the stairs and approached Nova’s door. He gently clicked it open, stepping into a room that was pitch dark.
"Asleep already, I see," he whispered, creeping toward the silhouette of the bed. Without warning, he pounced onto the mattress. "Haha, you are such a seductive whore. If not for the fact that you are my biological daughter, I would have loved to marry you. But what a pity, you can only be my sex toy."
"I’m quite surprised you didn’t even bother to keep your voice down, Mr. Darson."
The calm, chilling voice echoed from across the room, instantly shattering the heavy silence. A second later, the lights flickered on, violently brightening the space.
Nova stood by the entrance, casually leaning against the closed door. Her arms were folded across her chest, and her slightly damp hair clung to her skin, making her look both stunning and utterly dangerous.
Mr. Darson froze. He sat up abruptly, looking down to realize the shape he had pinned to the mattress was nothing but a bunched-up pillow. He hissed in annoyance, his face twisting as he stood to face her.
"Are you trying to play hard to get with me?" he demanded, his tone turning into a harsh order. "If you know what is good for you right now, lay flat on that bed obediently."
Nova merely smirked, lifting a hand to twirl a strand of her damp hair. "Mr. Darson, the fact that I’m using your daughter’s identity to speak with you right now should be enough to make you feel guilty," she said calmly, her piercing blue eyes locking onto his with unshakable authority.
"What bullshit daughter?" Mr. Darson spat back, his lust warping into ugly defiance. "Aren’t you a woman? Women are just a hole for a man’s dick. Whether it’s a daughter or a sister, does it matter?"
Nova raised an elegant eyebrow, her smile never fading. "This is the first time I’m hearing someone say that out loud. If you hadn’t mentioned it just now, I honestly wouldn’t have known. But... your definition of a woman is uniquely revolting." Her smile widened, though it was now laced with a deadly, suffocating murderous intent that made the air in the room drop ten degrees.
"Hmph, now you know. Besides, you aren’t as innocent as you look, aren’t you deliberately seducing me?" Mr. Darson laughed, taking a brazen step forward. "Oh, right, I see you have successfully wrapped my two sons under your charm, too. It doesn’t matter. You are quite the player, aren’t you? And I don’t blame them. Even I, as the father, am entirely charmed by you," he added, his laughter growing louder, echoing off the walls.
"Tsk... tsk... tsk," Nova lightly clicked her tongue, slowly shaking her head. "You are making false accusations here. Which of your eyes saw me seducing them?" she asked, her voice dropping to a low, lethal whisper.
"I don’t have time to exchange words with you. Get on the bed, or I will use force," Mr. Darson barked, his eyes burning red with the undeniable, reckless lust he could no longer hold back.
"Ah, yes. There is indeed not much time. We should end this immediately," Nova agreed smoothly. "Originally, I wanted to kill you—or rather, grant you an easy death. But hearing your fascinating definition of a woman... I suddenly changed my mind."
Mr. Darson’s brows knitted in sudden fury and caution. Reaching into his pocket, he drew out a heavy handgun, aiming the barrel directly at Nova’s chest.
"Don’t think you can scare me with a few creepy words," he snarled. "You better cooperate, or you will end up dead. And trust me, even your dead body will still serve me."
Nova didn’t flinch. Instead, she elegantly waved her hand.
A pulse of crackling blue energy surged across the room in a blur of light. Before Darson could even blink, the gun in his grip violently dismantled. Springs, barrel, and magazine shattered apart, clattering uselessly onto the hardwood floor.
"Mr. Darson, I forgot to tell you. Pointing a gun at me is entirely useless," she murmured, the playful smile vanishing from her face. Her aura turned ruthless and frigid, radiating the overwhelming pressure of someone ready to tear him apart. "Even if you had managed to shoot, the bullet would have turned into dust before it ever reached me."
Mr. Darson stood paralyzed, staring in absolute shock at the metallic pieces scattered at his feet. A profound, instinctual terror seized him as he slowly looked back up at her. "You... you are not Jenifer! Who are you?" he stuttered, his heart pounding so violently against his ribs, it felt unbearable.
"You are right. I am not Jenifer," Nova replied, calmly blowing on her perfectly manicured nails. "The original Jenifer is dead. I just borrowed her identity to retrieve something from you, and to ruin your entire family."
"Guards! Guards!" Mr. Darson screamed, desperately backing away, praying for someone to break down the door and drag him away from this nightmare.
"Chill, Mr. Darson," Nova’s smooth voice cut effortlessly through his frantic screams. She looked at him as though she were studying dead meat.
"Those guards you are trying to call have been under my control since the first moment I stepped into this house," she added, taking two slow, deliberate steps toward him. "If they are your last hope, then you are already dead."
The weight of her presence forced him backward until his legs gave out. He collapsed onto the floor, staring up at her in absolute horror.
"They will naturally be released once I am done with you and leave this house. But you... don’t worry, you won’t die," she promised softly.
"What... what do you want to do?" Mr. Darson choked out, breaking into a freezing sweat as his mind conjured the absolute worst.
"Mhm." Nova smiled, though her eyes held no warmth. "You said women are nothing but a hole for men. I won’t argue with you on that. Since you love the hole so much, I will have to honor you... and grant you one."
"Don’t... don’t try anything! Otherwise, I... I will report you to the police!" Mr. Darson babbled, pathetic tears of panic welling in his eyes.
Nova let out a dark, ringing chuckle. "The police? Please, Mr. Darson, go right ahead," she laughed, standing just right in front of him, her blue eyes gleaming with absolute dominance. "But if you manage to live until next year, remember this, always flee whenever you hear the name Nova."
