Chapter 410: Chapter 250: Opportunity (Part 2)

The deeper his understanding of the Sword Dao grew, the more Su Xing’s techniques seemed to meld together, each containing elements of the others. A single strike could manifest the effects of all his skills. That was precisely why his opponent’s performance left Su Xing so utterly astonished.

’Could it be...’

’This isn’t some kind of healing ability?’

Su Xing recalled facing the zombie-type enemies. The grievous wound effect from his attacks had been useless then, too. While it could block an opponent’s natural self-healing, its effectiveness plummeted if the target was simply difficult to kill or possessed a unique recovery method.

"To think you could withstand that move."

Black Impermanence’s expression grew calm, all traces of his earlier contempt and arrogance gone. He just stared quietly at Su Xing and murmured,

"I wonder how many more you can take."

"Heh. You two posers. Why are you masquerading as Black and White Impermanence?"

Su Xing tightened his grip on his sword, studying the pair as he asked the question in a low voice. It was an answer he’d been seeking for a while, but there hadn’t been an opportunity to ask. Now that his opponent had spoken first, Su Xing seized the chance.

"Heh, you know quite a bit."

"Because..."

"We are here to claim your life."

...

Those words all but confirmed it for Su Xing. The myths of Black and White Impermanence must exist in the Xia Country of this Blue Star as well; otherwise, they wouldn’t have answered him that way. ’But... are they really playing these roles just to hide their identities?’

Before Su Xing could dwell on it, he saw Black and White Impermanence lunge at him. Unlike their previous, more calculated approach, this attack was brutally direct.

They exploded forward, the ground beneath their feet—forged from special, incredibly durable materials within Dragon Gate—shattering instantly. Rubble flew as two craters, each over thirty centimeters deep, were blasted into the earth.

The two shot forward like a pair of cannonballs, their trajectories converging on Su Xing. From a distance, it looked as if the clubs in their hands were aimed to pierce through the exact same point.

"What arrogance!"

"Who do you two think you are?!"

A ruthless glint flashed in Su Xing’s eyes. Even though he was facing two opponents, he had no intention of using his Origin Essence. He had decided on his path and wouldn’t become overly reliant on the power gained from shattering his swords. Besides, he needed to test his own limits.

’As long as they don’t have Origin Essence, as long as they haven’t come into contact with that kind of power, then all I have to do is shatter the Black Sword to completely overwhelm them.’

’The Black Sword has already developed its own unique Origin Essence. That means the price of testing my strength is minimal. I just have to make sure I don’t screw up.’

"Come on!"

Su Xing roared, and his two longswords—including the Sparrow Sword—slashed out almost simultaneously. The air around him erupted with a terrifying BOOM.

The next instant, the three of them clashed violently, and a furiously intense battle began!

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

A dense cacophony of colliding weapons erupted at the entrance to Dragon Gate. Countless afterimages of swords and clubs clashed madly in mid-air. The air around the trio was constantly being torn apart or blasted away, creating turbulent currents that exploded outward in all directions.

All the surrounding structures—the tall buildings, even the very ground—were pulverized into rubble that swirled within the hurricane of their battle. They fought as they moved, their speed like crackling lightning, making the ensuing storm of rock and debris all the more terrifying.

If not for the two remaining Rank-8 masters from Dragon Gate, who had already moved most of the Dragon Gate Disciples to safety, the aftershocks of this battle alone would have killed an untold number of them.

The two Elders stood atop a collapsed high-rise, watching the scene with slack-jawed astonishment. Normally, a battle of this magnitude wouldn’t be entirely unheard of, but in the current circumstances, it was beyond exaggeration.

After all, the space here had been made unnaturally stable by the strange abilities of the black and white duo. Causing this much destruction in such a reinforced space should have been far more difficult.

Furthermore, this was the Dragon Gate Secret Realm, not the mortal world. The Spiritual Qi in the Dragon Gate Secret Realm had never once been depleted, so every blade of grass and every tree was far more durable than anything in the outside world. Yet in the hands of these three, everything was as fragile as paper.

"So powerful..."

An Elder murmured.

The sudden appearance of the two monstrously powerful figures in black and white was frightening enough. But for someone as young as Su Xing to demonstrate the ability to fight them on equal footing—while fighting two-on-one, no less—was astounding.

’This means...’

’Su Xing’s strength is still far from its limit.’

Anyone with real combat experience knew just how difficult it was to fight outnumbered. This was especially true when the opponents knew how to coordinate, as it would divide your attention and prevent you from using your full strength.

"He can actually trade blows with beings like that? Brother, don’t tell me this Su Xing is also from some ancient race, is he?"

The other man felt his scalp tingle. As he watched the scene unfold, his eyelids began to twitch uncontrollably.

"..."

"Yes... unbelievably strong."

The other Elder nodded in firm agreement. He stared in shock; with his Rank-8 strength, he could barely follow the speed of their movements. If he were to step into that furious fray, he wouldn’t be able to react at all.

"In a situation like this..."

"I’m afraid we’re of no help."

One of the Elders clenched his fists, his expression tense as he watched Su Xing. Of course, they both hoped Su Xing would win. Only his victory could bring this battle to a close. Otherwise, their own lives would be in jeopardy.

’Most importantly...’

’Su Xing is fighting two-on-one against such powerful opponents. It’s only natural that he’d be at a disadvantage.’

Su Xing was indeed at a disadvantage, but not as much as the two onlookers believed.

The reason he seemed to be at a disadvantage was simply because he was on the defensive. As the saying goes, two fists are no match for four hands. As soon as he was drawn into this two-on-one battle, Su Xing truly understood the meaning of that phrase. He also understood that if he wanted to win, he had to wait.

’Wait for an opportunity.’

’An opportunity for them to reveal a flaw.’

In truth, while Su Xing appeared to be on the back foot, it was his two opponents who were growing more flustered as the fight dragged on. The longer they fought, the more they realized just how terrifying this Su Xing fellow was. They couldn’t understand or believe how a monster like him could appear in this day and age.

After all,

He had no special bloodline.

This meant he was just an ordinary person—as ordinary as one could be.

So ordinary, so mundane, yet so young and so powerful. It was as if he possessed some kind of innate knowledge, something truly unimaginable.

The more they recognized Su Xing’s strength, the more anxious they became. They worried they might actually fail here, even though it seemed Su Xing had no chance to retaliate.

But they had forgotten one thing: the faster one attacks, and the more anxious one’s state of mind, the more openings appear in each strike. With Su Xing’s current perception, every single one of those openings registered in his eyes.

He just watched it all unfold, suppressing his quickening heart. His hands gripped the Black Sword and the Snake Sword, while his will directed the Sparrow Sword to continue parrying their attacks, as if he hadn’t noticed a thing.

Just then, a moment of absolute clarity washed over Su Xing’s mind, as if he had been enlightened. His opponents’ movements seemed to slow down in his eyes. His swords traced a bizarre arc, bypassing their two clubs to instantly slash across the heads of Black and White Impermanence. At the same time, both clubs landed squarely on Su Xing’s chest.

BANG!

Su Xing was sent flying, a large section of his chest caving inward as he violently spat out a mouthful of blood.

But at the same time, the heads of the two men tumbled to the ground. Their headless bodies remained standing, still and silent like a pair of scarecrows—an unsettling sight that would make anyone’s skin crawl.

"Did... Did Su Xing win?"

One of the watching Elders asked in astonishment. The tide of battle had turned so quickly that neither of them had time to process what happened. But just as the thought crossed their minds, they witnessed a sight they would never forget for the rest of their lives.

The heads on the ground... moved.
