Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s
Chapter 2766 - 2759: Fear
Then, Zhan Xiche tiptoed, and the distance between their faces suddenly shortened.
It was so close that they could feel each other’s breath; their noses nearly touched, and even their lips were just a hair’s breadth away from meeting.
Ning Chenguang’s heart sank; before he could think more, he was gently pushed away by Zhan Xiche.
"Thank you!" she said, as she straightened up, moving her ankle back and forth, "Luckily, the problem isn’t too serious, I can still walk."
"Then I won’t see you off." Ning Chenguang said.
"Alright. See you." Zhan Xiche smiled faintly as if the intimate moment earlier had never happened.
Zhan Xiche’s shadow faded away, leaving Ning Chenguang standing alone under the streetlamp.
He glanced at the time on his wrist; it was already so late and Yueyue hadn’t returned yet. He wondered if the girl had encountered any trouble.
Just as he was about to head home to ride his bike out to look for her, he suddenly heard He Yueyue’s voice. He turned his head to see her pushing her bike slowly towards him.
"Why are you back so late? Did you run into any trouble?" Ning Chenguang stepped forward, his gaze filled with concern as it landed on her face.
"There was a problem with the bike. I got it fixed, so I came back a little late." He Yue replied in a muffled voice.
"That’s good. Come on, let’s go home and eat! My mom has been waiting for you!" Ning Chenguang said as he naturally reached for He Yue’s bicycle.
But He Yue gripped the bike handle tightly, her eyes fixed on Ning Chenguang’s lips as they slowly turned red.
Her eyes turning red startled Ning Chenguang.
"Why are you crying? Did someone bully you?" he asked.
He Yue remained silent, letting her tears drip down her cheeks.
"Yueyue! Talk to me!" Ning Chenguang knew she had just arrived in this city and would likely face many adjustments, and he couldn’t rule out the possibility of some students bullying her for being an outsider.
If that were the case, he couldn’t just do nothing.
He Yue shook her head vigorously, but her tears only flowed more fiercely.
Little brother, no one else but you and my family can make me cry like this.
But unfortunately, this was the voice in Yueyue’s heart; she couldn’t tell her little brother this.
Seeing her crying so sorrowfully, Ning Chenguang reached out, wiping away her tears just like when he used to do when they were kids.
"Little brother!" At that moment, He Yueyue let go of the bike and rushed into Ning Chenguang’s arms, hugging him tightly.
The girl’s body was soft and warm, and this was the first time Ning Chenguang felt it; his heart raced, and a peculiar feeling surged from his heart, spreading like a current throughout his body.
"Yueyue..." His open arms, holding her or letting go, hovered awkwardly in the air.
"I’m a little scared." He Yue murmured.
"What are you afraid of?" Ning Chenguang, seeing her tears flowing helplessly, slowly lowered his hands, softly stroking her back, "Were you scared walking alone at night?"
"Mm." He Yue hummed, her words not matching her feelings.
She was actually afraid that one day she might lose him.
This was a thought she dared not even contemplate.
"I’ll wait for you after school tomorrow." Ning Chenguang comforted her.
"Mm."
An Hao had reheated the meal, worried since He Yue hadn’t returned for so long, fearing something might have happened to her.
She was about to go out and look for her when she opened the door and saw the two of them hugging tightly.
An Hao was stunned, her eyes gradually dimming.
