Chapter 2746 - 2739: Quiet Changes

His gaze roved over He Yue’s body, skimmed past her slender swan-like neck, and lingered for a few seconds on her full chest, then continued downward to her slender waist and the white, straight legs beneath her dress.

"Big brother..." He Yue blushed slightly under his gaze.

It was only then that Ning Chenguang snapped back to reality, realizing he had been staring at He Yueyue for too long.

"How is it? Hasn’t Yueyue grown into a fine young lady this year? Isn’t she different from how you remember? Isn’t she becoming more and more beautiful?" An Hao came out of the kitchen with the prepared dishes and couldn’t resist teasing him when she saw Ning Chenguang’s dazed expression.

Ning Chenguang withdrew his gaze, a suspicious blush spreading across his cheeks. He turned around, murmured softly, and headed upstairs.

"Big brother..." Seeing Ning Chenguang go upstairs without a word, He Yue felt a slight, subtle disappointment.

"Yueyue, come and eat. You’ve been hungry these past few days, right?" An Hao kindly called He Yue over, placing a big bowl of egg noodles on the table.

He Yue nodded, sat down by the table, and quietly started eating the noodles.

Watching the child’s sullen state, An Hao felt distressed, but after all, she had just lost her parents, and it would take time for her to overcome those emotions.

Qin Jian changed his clothes and came out of the bedroom; his work was busy, and he had to go to the army now.

Before he left, An Hao came up to adjust his collar, gently reminding him, "Take care of yourself and don’t overwork! Time doesn’t spare anyone, and you’re no longer young."

"I know." Qin Jian smiled, watching his wife button his shirt, and said softly, "I’m leaving. I’ll leave the household to you. Yueyue will soon be in her third year of high school; please help her find a school and arrange for her to continue her studies."

"I know." An Hao nodded, "With me here at home, you can rest assured."

She no longer had to go to work every day and at her level, only needed to go to the hospital two days a week.

"By the way, Brother He and the others..." An Hao spoke halfway but couldn’t continue.

However, Qin Jian understood, "I’ll arrange it. After these days pass, I’ll take you all to commemorate Brother He and the others."

"Okay."

Their conversation was in low tones, but He Yue still heard them.

She felt grateful that after such a disaster, she still had a place to call home.

After finishing her meal, He Yue stood up to clean the pots and bowls.

Ning Chenguang, already changed, came down from upstairs wearing a military uniform and carrying a backpack.

"Big brother, where are you going?" He Yue asked quickly upon seeing him.

"I’m going to school. You still have two anatomy classes this afternoon; I’ll be back after that." Ning Chenguang glanced at her quickly and walked out decisively.

"Come back early after school. Bring Yueyue to familiarize her with the surroundings." An Hao shouted loudly after him.

"Got it." Ning Chenguang raised his hand slightly and left without looking back.

He Yueyue’s gaze followed him until his figure disappeared beyond the door.

This meeting made He Yue feel as if something was different between them.

It seemed as though some emotion was quietly changing, making her feel that big brother seemed a bit distant now, and his thoughts were no longer as easy to predict.
