The courtyard remained silent after Xie Rong’s words.

Xie An’an sat frozen on the ground, her hand still trembling from where she had tried to hold onto him. For the first time, she seemed to realize that no matter how much she cried or begged, Xie Rong had already made his decision.

Wang Gege slowly wiped the tears from her face.

She took a deep breath and tried to steady herself before looking at Xie Rong. There was still sadness in her eyes, but the anger that had burned there earlier had gradually faded into exhaustion.

"Husband..."

Xie Rong immediately turned toward her. "Are you all right?"

Wang Gege nodded, though her eyes were still red. "I’m fine."

She looked at Xie An’an again. "Let’s go."

Xie Rong didn’t ask anything further. He simply reached out and helped her stand.

The moment his hand wrapped around hers, Wang Gege’s fingers tightened around his. She didn’t want to stay here anymore. Not because she was afraid of Xie An’an, but because she simply didn’t want to hear another excuse.

Xie Rong glanced around the courtyard before Mo Yan finally appeared before him.

"Young Master."

"Send An’an to the Punishment Court. No one is allowed to let her out, even if my own father orders it."

Xie Rong’s voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.

"Brother! NO!"

Xie An’an shouted as Mo Yan and another guard stepped forward and grabbed her arms, dragging her away from the courtyard.

"Let me go! Brother! Please! I don’t want to go there!" Her cries gradually grew more distant as the guards dragged her away.

Wang Gege remained silent, her hand still held tightly in Xie Rong’s.

Only when the courtyard finally fell quiet did she let out a long breath.

Xie Rong turned toward her. "Furen..."

Wang Gege looked up at him. Her eyes were still red from crying, and there were tear stains on her cheeks. "I want to go back."

Xie Rong’s expression softened immediately. "All right. Let’s go..."

"No!" She suddenly shouted, startling him. "I mean... I want to go back! I don’t want to stay in this mad world!"

Her voice broke as the tears that had finally stopped began streaming down her face again.

"I don’t want this anymore!" Wang Gege cried, her shoulders trembling. "Why does everything have to be so crazy?! I only wanted to live quietly! I didn’t ask for any of this!"

Xie Rong’s brows furrowed. "Furen..."

"I don’t want to deal with any more villains!" she shouted through her tears. "I don’t want anyone trying to kill me! I don’t want people framing me, scheming against me, or dragging innocent people into their mess!"

Her voice grew louder with every word, as though all the fear, anger, and helplessness she had been holding inside had finally found an outlet.

"And Chuntao..." Her voice suddenly trembled. "She didn’t even do anything wrong..."

Wang Gege covered her face, sobbing uncontrollably.

"She was just a servant... She was just trying to live... Why did she have to die because of someone else’s stupid hatred?!"

Xie Rong stood before her, his heart tightening as he watched her break down. "Furen, calm down first."

"I can’t! It hurts..." She shook her head violently. "I can’t calm down! I don’t want to be here anymore! I want to go home!"

Her hands clutched at his robes as she cried. "I want my old life back... I don’t care anymore... I want everything to go back to how it was..."

Xie Rong’s expression changed slightly with those words. He reached out and held her shoulders. "Furen, look at me."

But Wang Gege could no longer hear him properly. Her breathing had become uneven, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she cried. Her vision blurred, and the courtyard around her seemed to spin.

"I just... want to go home..." Her voice became softer.

Xie Rong immediately noticed that something was wrong. "Furen?"

Wang Gege blinked several times, trying to steady herself. Then her knees suddenly gave way.

"Furen!" Xie Rong caught her before she could fall to the ground.

Her body went completely limp in his arms.

"Wang Gege!" His voice carried through the entire courtyard.

He quickly lifted her into his arms, his face turning pale as he looked down at her unconscious face.

"Someone! Call the physician!"

The servants immediately rushed into action.

Xie Rong held her tightly against his chest, his fingers trembling slightly as he brushed the tears from her cheek.

She had cried until she could no longer remain conscious.

Xie Rong carried her straight back to their courtyard without waiting for the physician to arrive. His steps were quick, yet careful, as though he was afraid even the slightest movement might hurt her.

"Qing’er!" he called.

"Yes, Young Master!"

"Prepare the bed. And bring warm water."

Qing’er hurried inside, her face filled with worry as she watched Xie Rong carefully place Wang Gege onto the bed.

He remained beside her. His hand never left hers.

"Furen..." he murmured, gently brushing a few strands of hair away from her damp forehead. "Wake up... please..."

There was no response.

Wang Gege’s face was still stained with tears, her breathing quiet and steady now. Seeing her like this made the anger that had been burning inside Xie Rong turn into something else entirely.

Fear.

He had seen her cry before.

He had seen her frightened, angry, frustrated, and even furious enough to threaten people with a broom.

But he had never seen her break down like this. Not to the point where her body simply couldn’t bear it anymore.

The physician finally rushed into the room, carrying his medical case. "Young Master."

"Quickly. Examine her."

The physician immediately sat beside the bed and placed two fingers against Wang Gege’s wrist.

Xie Rong stood beside him, his expression tense.

After a moment, the physician’s brows relaxed slightly.

"Young Master, please don’t worry. Madam has merely fainted from excessive emotional distress. Her pulse is somewhat weak, but there are no signs of anything seriously wrong."

Xie Rong’s shoulders finally loosened. "She will wake up, right?"

"She should. Let her rest properly and avoid allowing her emotions to become too agitated again. She has exhausted herself."

Xie Rong nodded. "Understood."

The physician began giving instructions to Qing’er about preparing a calming herbal decoction and ensuring Wang Gege rested.

Xie Rong listened carefully to every word.

Only after the physician left did he sit down beside the bed. His gaze remained fixed on Wang Gege.

"Furen..." His thumb gently rubbed the back of her hand. "You wanted to go home so badly..."

His voice was barely above a whisper. "Then this husband will find a way to bring you home."
