Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 226: Leaked?
Lin Yun sighed softly. There was nothing she could do in the city. Perhaps she could try asking around at the city gate. Maybe there would be a pleasant surprise?
After leaving Miss Green Bamboo’s shop, Miss Rabbit took Lin Yun to stroll around Monster City again. It was almost noon.
"Lu You, are you hungry? Let’s find a place to eat!" Miss Rabbit turned around and asked for Lin Yun’s opinion.
Lin Yun had no objections. She was not familiar with the area, so she let Miss Rabbit choose. Miss Rabbit did not stand on ceremony and quickly took her to a restaurant.
"Let me tell you, although this restaurant looks unassuming, the owner learned to cook from humans, and the food is even better than at the restaurants outside."
The two found a seat, and Miss Rabbit could not wait to start chatting away with Lin Yun again.
Still curious, Lin Yun whispered, "Won’t he get into trouble with those people for opening a restaurant like this in Monster City?"
Miss Rabbit shook her head. "Those people also think the food in the other restaurants in Monster City is terrible, so even if they know, they’ll pretend they don’t."
Just then, several giant rats entered. Miss Rabbit caught sight of them out of the corner of her eye and immediately stopped talking, afraid that these people would cause trouble if they overheard. Lin Yun saw them too, glanced at them, then looked away and chatted with Miss Rabbit about other topics.
The giant rats looked over the tables in the restaurant. They were all full. But that was not a big deal. In Monster City, who would dare to disrespect them?
Shu Bei walked straight to the table next to Lin Yun’s and, without a word, just stared at the little bears sitting there. When his shadow loomed overhead, Lin Yun first thought they were the ones being targeted. She looked up and was relieved to find that the rat was staring at the next table.
The little bear had not expected to be singled out by the giant rat. He quickly swallowed the food in his mouth. "I’m leaving now! I’m leaving now, Lord Rat. I’ll tidy up the table first."
"Hmm." Shu Bei sat down directly, watching as the food on the table was taken away by Little Bear and shared with other guests at another table. The people sharing the table did not dare to say a word, afraid of being noticed.
The restaurant owner breathed a sigh of relief only after Shu Bei and the others had sat down. Given the situation just now, he had not dared to go up to them. He composed himself and rushed over. "Lord Shu Bei, what would you like to eat today?"
"I’m not saying this to be mean, but you don’t have enough tables in your shop. I have to keep an eye out just to find a seat." Shu Bei did not answer the question but spoke with a half smile.
The restaurant owner smiled ingratiatingly. "Yes, yes, yes, it’s my problem, my problem. How about this? I’ll reserve a table just for you, so you can come whenever you want!"
"Hmm, the usual." Shu Bei was satisfied and did not make things difficult for the restaurant owner.
The owner went back to the kitchen to cook. The dishes were served to Shu Bei’s table as soon as they were ready, but Lin Yun and Miss Rabbit’s table, which had arrived earlier, still had not been served. Lin Yun was somewhat at a loss for words, but she did not know what to say. She could not drag Miss Rabbit down with her.
After waiting a while, the restaurant owner brought their dishes over. He had also brought an extra side dish, but he said nothing and only smiled at them. The giant rats were still nearby, so he could not say anything carelessly. Lin Yun and Miss Rabbit exchanged a glance, but Lin Yun did not blame the owner.
"Hey, you really have to hand it to the elves. They don’t care about what they should care about, but they insist on meddling in things they shouldn’t. They have no sense at all."
While they were eating, the people at the next table suddenly started chatting. Lin Yun’s eyes darkened, and she slowed down her eating. She and Miss Rabbit had originally wanted to finish quickly and leave, as many other customers in the restaurant had also decided to do. But after hearing those words, Lin Yun changed her mind.
"Boss, what do you mean by that?"
"I heard that the elves actually want to rescue humans from our prison in the middle of the night. Don’t you think that’s ridiculous?"
Shu Bei did not try to hide his voice, nor was he worried that the customers in the restaurant would hear. The conflict between the giant rats and the elves was nothing new, and the recent events concerning the human race were common knowledge, so there was nothing to hide.
"Who doesn’t know that people turn off the lights and stay indoors at 8 p.m. these days? Only they would be ridiculous enough to think they could go out and rescue someone in the middle of the night, hahaha. Aren’t they afraid of being killed by that thing outside? That’s the funniest joke I’ve heard lately."
Shu Bei sneered, his face full of sarcasm. The giant rats at his table also smiled, their faces full of mockery.
One of the younger rats asked curiously, "Boss, if that’s the case, where did you get that information? This kind of thing should be a secret, right? Rescuing people from our giant rat tribe’s prison."
"What’s so difficult about that? Money makes the world go round, bro." Shu Bei picked up two pieces of braised pork and stuffed them into his mouth, then patted the younger rat on the shoulder.
The little rat looked as if he had just realized something.
Lin Yun’s lips twitched. She had not expected there to be a traitor among the elves. This news must have spread like wildfire outside. Not only did Miss Green Bamboo know, but the giant rat tribe knew too. Tonight’s operation was doomed to fail.
Lin Yun had originally planned to use this opportunity to get Dong Nian and Qi Zhu out. Were they about to miss the chance? Or could she pull some strings? But she had only just arrived in this world, and it was her first day in Monster City. If she went in rashly, she might arouse suspicion.
"By the way, boss, that kid Crocodile Green got injured and threw a tantrum for no reason." Little Rat Two suddenly remembered.
Shu Bei narrowed his eyes. "Injured? When did this happen?"
"E Qing said it happened last night. He just limped back from outside this morning and got caught and mocked by Kong Ling."
Little Rat Two honestly told everyone what he knew.
Shu Bei rolled his eyes. Crocodile Green, that good-for-nothing, had actually managed to injure himself? What a waste.
"Tell him to go back, or he’ll cause trouble!"
Then they talked about other things. The surrounding guests did not dare to listen. They hurriedly stuffed their food into their mouths and left without hesitation. Miss Rabbit also wanted to leave. She did not want to know too much. She only wanted to live a happy life, and knowing too much was not a good thing.
Lin Yun glanced at Miss Rabbit, then quickly sped up her eating. After finishing the topic of the rescue, the giant rats had started talking about other things. Listening any further would do no good, and the two of them could not behave too unusually. Continuing to eat slowly would only attract attention.
After finishing the last bite of rice, Miss Rabbit quickly pulled Lin Yun out of the restaurant. After they had walked a distance, Miss Rabbit breathed a sigh of relief. However, she looked somewhat unhappy.
