In the forest.

The big monster had dragged the little monster only a short distance when they noticed an arrow flying from behind. Instinct told them that they absolutely could not be hit by that arrow!

The little monster also spotted the arrow, and without the big monster dragging it along, it ran away very fast on its own.

“Roar–!”

The giant monster roared twice, then ran off in another direction. The little monster did not dare to delay and quickly ran in a different direction, afraid that its own trouble would drag down its kin.

As the two monsters split up and fled, the arrow did not hesitate. It turned a corner and chased after the larger monster.

As it ran, the giant monster heard a noise from behind. Turning its head, it saw that it was that arrow! The big monster cursed angrily, wondering why this thing had its eye on it!

The giant monster was at its wits’ end and did not know why the arrow kept chasing it. It could only run through the forest toward the more difficult terrain, trying to make the arrow miss its mark and stop chasing it.

However, it did not expect that in the last few seconds of the five minutes of tracking, the arrow would suddenly accelerate and rush toward it. The giant monster reacted and tried to dodge, but it still could not escape. It was shot in the shoulder.

Enraged, the monster raged helplessly in the forest, scaring away many small animals in the vicinity.

After the tracking arrow struck, red smoke began to rise from its tail, startling the monster so much that it quickly pulled the arrow out in pain and threw it on the ground. It retreated a few meters, staring at the arrow in horror. What was this thing? Why was its tail smoking? It glanced at its wound and realized that in its haste to pull out the arrow, it had not paid attention to the wound, and now it was bleeding profusely.

The monster stopped caring whether the arrow emitted red smoke or not and stepped forward to crush it. Ignoring its bleeding wound, it quickly left the area.

The red smoke at the tip of the arrow gave a soft puff and then stopped billowing.

…

The next morning.

Lin Yun rode the cat-shaped car again. She had not brought Tuan Tuan with her today, and Tuan Tuan stayed at home. She went to the nearby forest to see whether she could find the tracking arrow.

Last night, after the tracking arrow hit the monster, the system had sent her a notification. However, there had still been monsters outside, so she could not chase after them directly. She had only been able to send Tuan Tuan to check the surrounding area. But she knew she might not find any clues.

And her Star Dream Net had been torn open by that monster! It was still usable, but it had a hole in it. A captured target could escape through that hole, so she needed to find something to repair it. Lin Yun gritted her teeth, regretting that she had not thrown the Star Dream Net out sooner. But she also wanted to know what was going on with those monsters. Alas, it was all so difficult. Fortunately, the materials needed to repair the Star Dream Net could be found in this world. Otherwise she would have cried over her own stupidity.

Her thoughts raced the whole way, and before long she arrived at the roundabout.

Miss Rabbit had already found a pet from a pet shop for transportation, and she was waiting for Lin Yun by the roundabout.

“Lu You! I’m here!”

Miss Rabbit spotted Lin Yun and quickly raised her voice to call out. Lin Yun noticed and quickly went over. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“It wasn’t long!”

Miss Rabbit patted the puppy at her feet, and under Lin Yun’s gaze, the puppy gradually grew bigger. It lay down so that Miss Rabbit could ride on its back.

“What’s this…?”

“Oh, this is a puppy from the pet shop. If you need one, you can rent one there. It’s very convenient.” Miss Rabbit rode on the puppy and answered Lin Yun in a cheerful tone. It was a pity that she had not been able to find a pet like Lu You’s at the pet shop. She really liked the cat at Lu You’s house.

“I see.”

The two chatted as they walked toward Monster City. From Miss Rabbit, Lin Yun learned much more about Monster City, including the fact that one had to pay an entrance fee to enter. To this, Lin Yun could only think: Were they crazy for money?! You needed gold coins to enter the city! Ten gold coins per entry! Why didn’t they just rob people?

But she had no choice. Unless she had a flying mount, she would have to go to Monster City sooner or later. And sneaking into the city at night was risky, which was a real worry.

Lin Yun sighed.

Miss Rabbit chuckled at her expression. “Oh, it’s all right. If you want to be able to enter the city anytime, there is a way.”

“What do you mean?!”

“If you find a job in the city, you can go to the authorities to get an entry permit, which makes it much easier to come and go. But…” Miss Rabbit pursed her lips. “Jobs in Monster City aren’t easy to find. If you’re interested, it might take a while.”

Lin Yun sighed again. So no matter where you went, finding a job was always this hard, wasn’t it?

Miss Rabbit was a little unhappy because she could not help her good friend.

“It’s all right, it’s all right. Let it be. It’s not like we have to go to Monster City all the time.” Lin Yun quickly reassured her, afraid that the little rabbit would overthink things.

Miss Rabbit nodded.

Soon they saw some buildings very close to the entrance of Monster City, where house seeds had been planted. Some races sold goods at the city gate, and their prices were not high. Some races found the items in Monster City too expensive, so they came to the city gate to buy things. If you wanted to buy something at the gate, you could ask the guards for a temporary pass, but you had to return it within the specified time. Otherwise, you would be blacklisted by Monster City. People from many nearby towns liked to come here to buy things.

Because the goods were cheap and there was no entrance fee, this caused dissatisfaction among some merchants in Monster City. However, the merchants at the gate did not violate any regulations, so even if the merchants inside the city were unhappy, they could not say anything. They only liked to come out from time to time to cause trouble and disrupt transactions.

“Lu You, let’s take a look at the city gate before going in! Who knows what good stuff I might find!”

The two dismounted, and after Sang Biao shrank, he climbed onto Lin Yun’s shoulder. Lin Yun sighed helplessly. Sang Biao had really gotten used to it now. Just like the Ghost Vine, he would climb onto her shoulder at the drop of a hat. She now felt that her shoulders were a bit uneven.

The two headed toward the merchants outside the city. The things sold here were quite interesting. Miss Rabbit pointed to a fruit stall and told her that the fruit was picked by the vendors themselves from the forest. The quality varied a bit, so you had to be selective if you wanted to buy some, but the prices were cheap.
