Surviving the Apocalypse with my Multiplier System

Chapter 286: Clothing Choices

Rayne finally digested the information and looked up at Leader Rose with a determined look. “Leader Rose, I wish to make a good impression. Would you happen to know this client’s preferences?”

After a bit of thought, Rayne decided that the possibility of this man being Damien was high. If she could make a good impression during this meeting, she could save herself the trouble of having to find him herself.

Leader Rose smiled but shook her head. “I’m sorry, but his tastes tend to change based on his mood. We’ve long tried to establish a list of preferences for this person, but so far it’s been unsuccessful. I recommend you do your best based on your judgment and try your luck.”

Her tone made Rayne feel like this wasn’t the first time a ‘beauty’ had been interviewed, and there had been many rejections. This only confirmed her suspicions that this man was possibly Damien, or at least someone very close to him.

Rayne nodded her head, “I will give it a try.”

She walked into the large storeroom and went straight for the area with the clothes. Choosing an outfit was the first step. Accessories and makeup will all come after.

Tamara was on the other side, busy testing out perfumes and looking at jewelry, so Rayne didn’t have to worry about nagging. She searched through the closets and boxes with a frown. All of these dresses were either too extravagant or too tacky.

I wish there was something more elegant and feminine.

Rayne suddenly thought of her system. She should have thousands of dresses in there; surely she could find something she liked.

She walked closer into the closet so that it looked like she was still searching through it, and opened her system panel. After tapping the folder named ‘dresses,’ she couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer selection she had inside.

I could probably wear a different dress for the rest of my life and still not go through each one.

She continued to scroll through all of her options until she came across an A-line cocktail dress. It was knee-length and a golden cream color that appeared very elegant and beautiful.

“Perfect!” she mumbled and pulled it out before searching for a pair of matching shoes.

A few minutes later, she walked over to Leader Rose with her hands full of items she ‘selected’ from the storehouse. Each item she held was from her own space, including the makeup.

Earlier, when she walked over to the makeup section, she noticed that a number of the items were already open and used, and decided to opt for her own.

Leader Rose looked at the items in her hand for a few moments. Her expression seemed a bit startled at first, but she finally flashed Rayne a smile.

“I see you decided to go with the classy route. I think this could work, good work. Though I must say, your skills in finding things are excellent. Countless beauties have been permitted to take items out of this room, yet none of them have ever found anything so pristine.”

Rayne lowered her eyes and nodded, “Thank you, Leader Rose.”

Leader Rose nodded and turned to look around the storeroom. “Now, where is Tamara? Time is almost up.” She took a few steps forward and shouted, “Tamara! Time’s up, bring your items for me to approve!”

The next moment, Rayne spotted Tamara moving from the corner of her eyes.

“I’m here!” she called back and walked over to stand in front of Leader Rose.

Rayne glanced at the items in her hands and shook her head. It seemed like she had taken the suggestion to wear dark colors very seriously. The dress she chose was a very revealing, midnight blue dress. It was so short that Rayne wasn’t sure if it would even cover the bottom half of her butt. But the interesting part was the rest of her color choices.

The dress was midnight blue, while the shoes were a dark plum red. Even the lipstick she chose was so dark that it looked black. In her other hand was a set of dark forest green lingerie that she planned on wearing under the revealing dress.

Leader Rose looked at the items in Tamara’s hands and frowned. “Are you sure this is what you want to wear? If you get sent back, there will be consequences.”

“Yes, I’m sure! I picked out all of the dark colors like you suggested. I’m sure he’s bound to like at least one of them.”

Leader Rose shook her head, “Very well. If you insist, then I approve. Let’s go shower and get dressed.”

She led Rayne and Tamara to the large communal bath area, where they both took a quick shower and began to get ready.

Rayne decided to keep her makeup looking natural. The last thing she wanted was to give off an air of ‘cheap’ or ‘dumb blonde’. She knew that if this really was Damien, he would most likely care less about sexual appeal and look for a woman who had depth.

She had seen similar things happen in the business and celebrity world. Wealthy men would have a fling with a beautiful woman, but would always choose to marry the elegant one.

In this case, she wasn’t planning on marrying anyone other than Julian, but to make this meeting successful, that was her general thought process.

“Okay, ladies. Finish up quickly. It’s almost time!” said Leader Rose.

She walked in wearing a pair of high-heeled boots and her hair and makeup all done up.

Rayne packed away her makeup carefully and walked over to her side.

“You look lovely, Rayne. Very classy, good job,” Leader Rose complimented.

But before Rayne could reply, Tamara walked over wearing her rainbow of dark colors. “How do I look? Do you think he’ll like me?”

Rayne fought back a laugh. Though each piece of clothing, individually, suited her, together they looked very sloppy. Tamara was attractive, but the outfit she chose really took away from that.

Leader Rose also struggled to hold back, but ultimately she said nothing and led both of them to their meeting locations.

As Rayne stepped through the double doors, surprise took over. The room that she was led into reminded her of a classy underground bar. The room was dimly lit, and there was soft jazz music playing out of invisible speakers all around.

At the center was a circular bar that looked fully stocked with expensive wines and top-shelf liquors.

Rayne looked around the room, surprised to see that there were a decent number of people sitting around the tables, enjoying their evening.

“Keep quiet and follow me,” Leader Rose ordered and led them to the far side of the bar.
