Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 469 - 468: Little Flat Dragon
Chapter 469: Chapter 468: Little Flat Dragon
The Ashenbone Lord climbed all the way out of the fissure.
It stood in the center of the Coliseum. On its thirty-foot-tall skeleton, the swirling black mist writhed and stretched like a living thing, coalescing into countless twisted faces.
Seraphina Sinclair gripped the Moon-Tracking Blade, its tip pointed slightly downward.
This was a B-level monster.
’If I recall correctly, I used a D-level Black Mist Coliseum Invitation Letter, didn’t I?’
’So where did this B-level monster come from?’
Hearing the commotion from the stands, Seraphina finally understood.
’Ah, so something’s gone wrong.’
She raised a hand and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Her face was expressionless, but her mind was racing.
’This Coliseum has run for years without a single incident. Why is it that the moment I show up, all hell breaks loose?’
’The first time, it was the Chairman forcing a change of the flooring. Now the floors have been completely replaced.’
’The second time is this thing right here.’
A B-level monster—and one that attacked indiscriminately, at that—had appeared in a D-level Coliseum.
If someone called this an accident, Seraphina wouldn’t believe it.
Her gaze swept across the stands for a moment and, just as she expected, she saw the Chairman, his face twisted in a maniacal grin.
Seraphina looked away.
’I get it now.’
’It’s not an accident. The Chairman wants me dead.’
Seraphina glanced down at the Moon-Tracking Blade in her hand, then up at the thirty-foot-tall skeleton, and suddenly felt an urge to laugh.
She was a B-level human, wielding an S-Class blade, facing a B-level monster.
’No one would ever believe this setup.’
But there was nothing to be done. This was her reality now.
The Ashenbone Lord lowered its head and "looked" at her.
It had no eyes, but Seraphina could feel an icy gaze sweep over her body. It was pure malice, devoid of any emotion, like a human looking down at an ant.
Then, it moved.
Seraphina could only see an afterimage. For a creature so enormous, the Ashenbone Lord moved like a gust of wind!
A bone claw swept toward her, its five fingers—each a woven Bone Spike—tearing through the air with a piercing shriek.
Seraphina didn’t try to block it head-on.
She rolled to the side, narrowly dodging the claw. It grazed the tips of her hair before slamming into the ground behind her.
The Ashenbone Lord and the Gloom Hatchling were of the same origin; there was no hostility between them. Naturally, the Gloom Hatchling had no intention of attacking it.
But the rules of the Coliseum stipulated that the Gloom Hatchling could not move more than one meter away from its master. And with the Ashenbone Lord’s claws being so immense, this meant that even if the little creature did its best to dodge, it was fated to be sent flying.
Being sent flying would have been one thing.
But the wicked Coliseum rules wouldn’t even let it leave Seraphina’s one-meter radius!
And so, the Gloom Hatchling did three somersaults in the air, tracing a graceful parabolic arc before slamming into an invisible wall exactly one meter from Seraphina.
THUD.
The Gloom Hatchling was plastered against the transparent air-wall, its entire face flattened. Its round eyes were wide, and its little claws scrambled desperately, but it couldn’t get past the invisible barrier.
"AWOO!" It let out an aggrieved roar, only to be bounced back by the air-wall.
Before Seraphina could even reach out to catch it, the Ashenbone Lord’s second attack arrived.
This time, it was a downward slam.
The massive bone claw came crashing down like a small mountain, blotting out all the light from above the Coliseum.
Seraphina gritted her teeth and retreated rapidly.
BOOM!!!
The bone claw smashed into the ground, and the entire Coliseum trembled.
Shards of stone flew, dust and smoke filled the air, and a three-meter-wide crater was blasted into the ground.
The Gloom Hatchling was sent flying once again by the shockwave.
It tumbled through the air, its small body like a white cannonball, and once again slammed into the air-wall at the one-meter mark.
THUD.
Its little face was flattened again.
"Awoo..."
It slid down the air-wall and landed on the ground, belly-up, its little claws twitching faintly.
Seraphina: "..."
’It’s a pathetic sight, but I don’t have time to worry about it right now.’
Through the dust, the Ashenbone Lord retracted its bone claw. Its massive skull swiveled, once again fixing its gaze on Seraphina.
Within the roiling black mist, countless twisted faces turned toward her in unison, their mouths opening and closing as if silently chanting some kind of Spell.
Seraphina tightened her grip on the Moon-Tracking Blade as its blade began to faintly glow.
Illusion Form.
’Is it because this monster is B-level, or maybe even higher? The Single Lens can’t seem to read its weaknesses.’
The Ashenbone Lord gave her no time to think.
Within the roiling black mist, countless twisted faces opened their mouths at once—
A silent scream.
Seraphina’s mind felt as if it had been pierced by countless needles at once. The intense pain made her vision go dark, and she almost lost her grip on her blade. She clenched her jaw and forced herself to stay upright, only to find her body growing sluggish, as if bound by something unseen.
’A Spiritual Attack?’
’Then let’s see whose Spirit is stronger!’
Seraphina tightened her grip on the Moon-Tracking Blade, and the translucent light covering it suddenly blazed. She pushed Illusion Form to its limits, and the blade began to vibrate, emitting a low hum.
The Ashenbone Lord’s silent scream collided with the hum.
Two waves of spiritual power clashed silently in the air, causing the very light within the Coliseum to distort. The spectators who were halfway through their escape clutched their heads and screamed, and some even fainted on the spot.
A warm trickle of liquid flowed from Seraphina’s nose.
It was blood.
If it weren’t for her recent meditation, she would have been reduced to a drooling idiot by the Ashenbone Lord’s first Spiritual Attack!
’If we’re going to fight, then let’s fight to the bitter end.’
She raised her blade, its tip pointing directly at the black mist on the Ashenbone Lord’s chest.
She had a strange intuition that the black mist was the key to defeating the Ashenbone Lord!
As if sensing this tiny human’s defiance, the mouths on the Ashenbone Lord’s countless faces opened wide, letting out an even more piercing, silent shriek.
Black mist surged wildly from its skeleton, forming into countless black tendrils that shot toward Seraphina.
Seraphina did not dodge.
She swung her blade.
The Moon-Tracking Blade carved a crescent arc of light—it was Broken Abyss!
Wherever the light passed, the black mist tendrils melted away like snow in a fire. The twisted faces shrieked as they dissipated in the light, turning into wisps of green smoke.
As the last of the black mist vanished, the Ashenbone Lord’s claw followed close behind, as if it wouldn’t rest until Seraphina was dead.
Now that it was closer, Seraphina held nothing back. With a flick of her Moon-Tracking Blade, she unleashed another Broken Abyss!
The Moon-Tracking Blade was an S-Class Legendary Equipment; the slash it unleashed was not to be underestimated.
The slash cut through the Ashenbone Lord’s wrist bone as if it were tofu, meeting no resistance whatsoever.
With a "CRACK," the Ashenbone Lord’s right wrist snapped.
The huge bone claw broke away from its arm and crashed to the ground with a thunderous noise. A large amount of black mist poured from the severed surface, coalescing in the air into countless twisted faces that let out silent screams before rapidly dissipating.
