Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 457 - 456: The Fleeing Rabbit
Chapter 457: Chapter 456: The Fleeing Rabbit
Knowing there was danger and recklessly approaching would be a death sentence!
Seraphina Sinclair immediately dismissed the idea of ’getting closer for a look.’ She gripped Water Dragon Roar, and after a moment of silence, she unleashed an unannounced Dragon Breath Following Form.
Three Water Blades shot toward the little rabbit. Even though the rabbit had seen all sorts of survivors, it never expected someone to attack so suddenly.
The Water Blades pierced the rabbit.
Or rather, they pierced the spot where the rabbit had been.
At the critical moment, the little snow-white creature had opened its mouth wide and swallowed the carrot in one gulp.
Then, it leaped up with incredible speed. The three Water Blades zipped past beneath it, not even touching a single hair!
It flipped its body in mid-air. The previous innocence and adorable blankness in its red eyes were gone, replaced by raw killing intent and a hint of...
’Mockery?’
Seraphina Sinclair’s pupils constricted slightly.
’This thing is much tougher than that spider from before.’
’A B-level monster, as expected!’
But it was better this way, now that it had dropped the act. A direct fight was far preferable to it pretending to be innocent while waiting for Seraphina Sinclair to fall into a trap.
That would have made Seraphina look like a fool.
The moment the rabbit landed, its body began to swell.
Its soft white fur stood on end like countless steel needles. Its mouth split open, revealing two rows of sharp teeth. Its claws shot out from their pads, gleaming menacingly. In the span of just two breaths, the palm-sized bunny had transformed into a beast half the height of a person, baring its fangs as it glared at Seraphina Sinclair.
But it didn’t pounce immediately. Instead, its mouth stretched into a grin that reached its ears, its scarlet eyes fixed on Seraphina Sinclair, as if anticipating the sight of fear on her face.
Unfortunately for the beast, its wish was not to be granted.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Seraphina Sinclair brandished her long blade, took a step forward, and charged into battle!
Seraphina Sinclair never liked being on the defensive. If this thing wanted to play mind games, she would teach it that there’s always a bigger fish.
Gripping Water Dragon Roar, her footwork shifted, and she became a blur, lunging toward the disguised rabbit!
The long blade cut through the air with a piercing whistle, aimed straight at the creature’s grotesque head.
The rabbit clearly hadn’t expected her to attack so quickly. A flash of surprise crossed its scarlet eyes, but its movements were anything but slow.
It pushed off powerfully with its hind legs, its massive body surprisingly nimble, like a wad of cotton, easily dodging the overhead strike. The instant it landed, a shrill screech erupted from its ear-to-ear mouth, as if mocking Seraphina Sinclair’s futile effort.
But a second later, its laughter died.
Seraphina Sinclair’s strike had been a feint.
The real killing blow was in her left hand!
A rune, already in flight, transformed into a ball of searing flame in mid-air, hurtling straight for the disguised rabbit’s face.
This D-level rune might not inflict much damage on a B-level monster, but the sudden burst of light was more than enough to make it shut its eyes.
The rabbit instinctively squinted. In that exact moment, Seraphina Sinclair’s second strike landed.
This time, the Blade landed squarely on its shoulder.
The rabbit let out a piercing shriek. Its massive body staggered back from the force of the blow, a wound deep enough to show bone split open on its shoulder, and black blood sprayed out.
Fear finally surfaced in its scarlet eyes—a crystal-clear terror of death!
Just as Seraphina Sinclair’s next strike was about to fall, the rabbit violently twisted its body away.
Its enormous body shattered the mobile cabin’s window as it leaped out.
Seraphina Sinclair stood frozen, long blade in hand, staring at the shattered window. For a moment, she couldn’t quite process what had happened.
’It ran?’
’A B-level monster actually ran away?’
She walked to the window and peered out.
The black fog churned, obscuring everything. Only a faint, piercing shriek could be heard in the distance. ’What was that supposed to mean? Anger? Indignation? Or was it just screaming from the pain?’
Seraphina Sinclair was silent for a moment. She withdrew her gaze, looking down at Water Dragon Roar in her hands, then at the pool of black blood on the floor. Finally, her eyes fell on the gaping hole in the window.
The window was broken.
The mobile cabin’s window was broken.
Seraphina Sinclair took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
"Well, fine," she said. "At least it’s better than having flesh and gore splattered everywhere."
She turned to walk away, but after just two steps, she heard a rustling sound from behind her.
Seraphina Sinclair spun around, Water Dragon Roar already poised to strike.
Through the broken window, a furry paw poked in, followed by a second leg, then a third, and a fourth—
The rabbit, back in its cute form, had climbed back in.
Half its body was hanging through the window. It was covered in blood, the wound on its shoulder still oozing black fluid. But its scarlet eyes were locked on Seraphina Sinclair, and they held no more fear—only a near-maniacal obsession.
Seraphina Sinclair: "..."
’What is wrong with this thing?’
’Or did it run into something worse out there? With its intelligence, did it decide the human in here was the easier target and come back?’
The rabbit transformed back into its terrifying combat form. It opened its mouth, baring those two rows of sharp teeth, and let out a hoarse shriek.
The sound was filled with anger, humiliation, and a grim determination that screamed, ’This isn’t over!’
Seeing its sorry state, Seraphina Sinclair suddenly smiled.
From her perspective, a monster that knew how to flee was much better than a mindless one that only knew how to attack.
At least this kind could feel fear. It could run. And when it was outmatched, it might even beg for its life.
And that gave Seraphina Sinclair the perfect opportunity to kill it.
The human and the rabbit circled each other three times around the mobile cabin before the rabbit finally lost its patience.
It let out a hoarse shriek and lunged at Seraphina Sinclair.
This time, there were no feints, no mind games—only pure, desperate madness.
With every movement, the wound on its shoulder gushed black blood, splattering it everywhere.
But Seraphina Sinclair watched the scene unfold without a hint of retreat!
She didn’t need to.
Gripping Water Dragon Roar tightly, Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes glinted with the resolve to fight to the death.
The closer it got to Seraphina Sinclair, the more the madness in its eyes receded, replaced by a hesitation it didn’t even seem to recognize in itself.
It had seen many survivors. Some had been scared witless, while others had mustered the courage to fight back. But it had never encountered a human like this one. She was clearly just C-level, yet she stood there, gripping that long blade, her gaze so tranquil it was as if she had already foreseen its demise.
The rabbit couldn’t understand why.
All it knew was that the wound on its shoulder still throbbed with an agonizing, bone-deep pain.
Seraphina Sinclair watched the rabbit’s speed falter, and the smile on her lips deepened.
’It’s afraid. It’s afraid... which means it’s time for it to die!!’
