Chapter 435: Chapter 434: Remarkable Effects

Gray was taken aback, his tentacles freezing in midair.

couldn’t help but laugh from the side, but a glare from Gray made her quickly stifle the sound. Her shoulders, however, were still shaking. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

"N-no, that’s not what I meant!" Gray frantically waved his tentacles, trying to explain himself.

But Seraphina Sinclair had no intention of blaming him in the first place and even offered a few words of comfort.

After coaxing Squidward until he left cheerfully, Seraphina Sinclair turned to face the mountain of takeout containers that filled half the room, feeling troubled.

’Even if this stuff is delicious, won’t I puke if I eat fifty portions in a row?’

Seraphina Sinclair’s gaze swept across the small cabin.

The Sunflower clearly didn’t need this kind of food. It only liked sunshine and the slime dropped by monsters after they were killed, showing no interest at all in human cuisine.

The only other living things left were the Gloom Hatchling and Luna Jacobs.

Feeding this kind of food to the Gloom Hatchling would be no different from Seraphina Sinclair committing suicide.

Seraphina Sinclair decisively crossed that name off her mental list.

As for Luna Jacobs... no matter how you sliced it, she was just Seraphina Sinclair’s puppet. And what is a puppet?

’A tool!’

’Just like an axe or a hammer. Throughout history, who has ever fed their own axe or hammer?’

’Oh, right, there’s also 001.’

Although 001 was temporarily living in her mobile cabin, at the end of the day, 001 wasn’t one of her own people.

Seraphina Sinclair believed that allowing her to stay was already an act of great mercy; providing food was absolutely out of the question. Their relationship was a simple exchange of interests, and Seraphina Sinclair had no intention of increasing the weight of her own contribution.

Seraphina Sinclair’s gaze circled the room before finally landing back on the mountain-like pile of takeout containers.

’What else can I do?’

’Eat it.’

’It’s not like it’s useless. Gray said this is their specialty dish, and it can even increase attribute points. Other people probably can’t even get it if they wanted to.’

Seraphina Sinclair comforted herself inwardly, taking a container from the top of the pile and opening it on the stone table.

The fragrance immediately filled the air.

The moment the aroma entered her nostrils, Seraphina Sinclair paused.

It was a very gentle scent, like some kind of meat broth that had been stewing for a long time, yet it also carried a faint, sweet freshness of herbs and plants.

She glanced down at the contents of the container.

Its appearance was surprisingly good.

The broth was a light golden color, crystal clear to the bottom. A few pieces of meat, stewed until tender, rested at the bottom, garnished with several slices of a vegetable she didn’t recognize.

Although the dish was called "Steamed Cucumber and Venison Stew," it had absolutely nothing to do with the cucumber or venison Seraphina Sinclair was familiar with.

Seraphina Sinclair picked up her chopsticks and lifted a piece of meat.

The piece of meat trembled slightly on the tips of her chopsticks, clearly stewed to perfection.

She put it in her mouth and chewed a couple of times.

Then, her chopsticks froze.

The meat was tender but didn’t fall apart, the flavor was rich but not greasy, and... a warm current immediately rose from her stomach, spreading through her limbs. The sensation was faint, but it was definitely there.

’My attribute points increased, and the effect is remarkable!’

Seraphina Sinclair looked down at the container of soup, her expression changing.

She glanced up at the mountain-like pile of containers. There were at least forty-nine more. Even if each box only added a few tenths of an attribute point, fifty boxes together would be a considerable amount.

A glint appeared in Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes. Suddenly, the pile of containers didn’t seem so troubling anymore.

「One day passed.」

Seraphina Sinclair had eaten a full five boxes of the Steamed Cucumber and Venison Stew.

At this rate, she would finish all the dishes Gray had sent in ten days.

Before this, Seraphina Sinclair never would have thought she could eat so much in one day.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t waste the rest of her time either.

Today was Sunday, the time for the weekly path selection.

Seraphina Sinclair first tried to use the Mist Beacon. After all, besides the sun in the Wind-carved Fissure, she had no other light source. If she started moving before Luna Jacobs could successfully improve the blueprint, the Sunflower’s Hunger Level would just be wasted.

But when she tried to use it, a prompt panel popped up in front of her—

[Currently located in the Wind-carved Fissure. This Navigation Card cannot be used.]

Seraphina Sinclair stared at the line of text for several seconds, a cold sweat about to break out on her back.

If she hadn’t killed that dragon, if the winds that perpetually shrouded the Wind-carved Fissure hadn’t disappeared, if the sun hadn’t appeared, if she didn’t have any sunshine on hand...

’Tonight would have been the night I died!’

Seraphina Sinclair took a deep breath. This was the first time she had been so close to death.

But thankfully, luck was on her side this time.

Now, however, Seraphina Sinclair had to decide whether to use the Mist Beacon to return after she moved.

After all, the Mist Beacon wasn’t a common item. She had only managed to buy this one from Luna Jacobs after going through Chrona.

After a moment of thought, Seraphina Sinclair seriously asked Luna Jacobs how many days it would actually take to improve the blueprint.

’If it takes a long time, then using the Mist Beacon would be worth it.’

Luna Jacobs thought seriously for a moment, then replied, "If things go smoothly, I can finish it tomorrow."

"Are you sure?" Seraphina Sinclair asked.

Luna Jacobs nodded, her tone calm. "I already have a concept for the improvements. The rest is just a matter of time. Barring any surprises, it can be done before tomorrow night."

’That’s great.’

Seraphina Sinclair nodded, choosing to save the Mist Beacon.

She and the Sunflower said goodbye to the rare sun of this world before she initiated the move.

After choosing her path, Seraphina Sinclair let out a genuine sigh of relief.

She had finally survived this crisis.

Unable to move for the rest of the time, Seraphina Sinclair didn’t let it go to waste. While organizing the items in her Silver Moon Earrings, she found a blueprint she had casually picked up before—a Firework Launcher blueprint!

It had only one function: upon launch, it had a 100% chance to attract all monsters within a 500-meter radius.

When Seraphina Sinclair first got this thing, she thought it was useless. Now, it had become a powerful tool for farming slime for her Sunflower.

The first time she used the firework launcher, Seraphina Sinclair felt a little apprehensive.

After all, it attracted 100% of the monsters within a 500-meter radius. If too many showed up, wouldn’t it be like a zombie siege?

One careless move and she’d be digging her own grave.

Thus, Seraphina Sinclair was as cautious as she could possibly be.

She ran through the scenario in her mind several times, preparing her runes, Potions, and scrolls, only taking action after making sure nothing could go wrong.

The result was unexpectedly smooth.

A 500-meter radius might sound large, but the monster density in The Black Mist World wasn’t high to begin with. Moreover, the monster distribution was quite fixed; a second D-level monster would never appear within the territory of another D-level monster.

Taking all factors into account, Seraphina Sinclair’s first use of the firework launcher went surprisingly well.

She had originally thought that with Luna Jacobs around, it wouldn’t be a solo fight. But the reality was that there was no need for Luna Jacobs to even make a move; Seraphina Sinclair took care of all the monsters by herself with her blade.

Except for when she was collecting the slime, which was a bit of a mess...

It was mainly because the slime was so disgusting.

It was sticky, pitch-black, and had an indescribable, foul stench.

The Sunflower, however, wasn’t picky. As long as the slime was placed in its pot, it would absorb every last drop.
