Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 338: Regeneration
Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Regeneration
’The Sunflower can bring much more than one might imagine...’
Seraphina Sinclair initially thought this sentence was only useful during sacrifices. But now, on second thought, if it were truly only related to sacrifices, the inscription on the Stone Tablet could have been much more explicit.
The notebook recorded all the details about the sacrifice; there was no need to also carve such an ambiguous and cryptic hint onto the Stone Tablet.
Almost everything in a dungeon is useful; the System doesn’t do anything redundant.
’So, what purpose could this sentence serve right here, right now?’
An idea flashed through Seraphina Sinclair’s mind. The Extraction Liquid that could disperse the Embers was secreted by the Sunflower, and this monster before them...
According to their speculation, this was the monster that brought the Embers.
’If that’s the case, there must be some kind of counter-relationship between the Sunflower and this monster.’
These thoughts flashed through Seraphina Sinclair’s mind like lightning.
She glanced at Fayestar.
Fayestar didn’t know about the Stone Tablet, so naturally, she wouldn’t be thinking so deeply. Her expression was one of simple resolve. Meanwhile, Alaric Hawthorn and Lyra Lowell would certainly fight with all their might just to survive.
As Fayestar was giving instructions, the Rotsea Emberfiend’s tentacles had already assumed a clear attack stance. The concentration of the dark green poisonous mist was visibly increasing, stirring a sense of unease and agitation.
Seraphina Sinclair made her decision.
She quickly retrieved a small leather pouch from her Silver Moon Earrings. It was a freebie Miller had given her during one of their trades.
This miscellaneous item had been collecting dust in a corner of her Silver Moon Earrings’ storage space; this was the first time she was using it.
Under the somewhat astonished gazes of Fayestar and Lyra Lowell, she carefully placed her Sunflower inside, then slung the two straps over her shoulders and tied them in a dead knot in front of her.
After doing all this, Seraphina Sinclair made a few test movements to check the pouch’s stability. Once she was sure it was secure, she said nonchalantly, "Let’s begin."
The words had barely left her mouth when Fayestar’s incredulous voice rang out, "You’re going to fight with the Sunflower on your back?!"
"Yes."
Seraphina Sinclair replied, her tone as calm as if she were commenting on the fine weather.
She even raised a hand to adjust the straps, making the leather pouch with the Sunflower sit more snugly against her body so it wouldn’t hinder her movements.
"Are you crazy?!" Fayestar’s voice shot up, nearly cracking. "That thing will get in your way! This is a C-level monster! Not one of those E-level or D-level monsters that enter your cabin. This is a C-level monster with a special ability! The slightest mistake could be fatal!"
She stared intently at Seraphina Sinclair. "Serafelle Sinclair, I know you’re strong, but... don’t be overconfident. You only get one life."
If it had been anyone else, they might have listened to her.
But the person she was trying to persuade was Seraphina Sinclair, also known as Blacktiger Ford, the number one player in the current Zone.
"I know." Seraphina Sinclair looked at her, her eyes showing no sign of madness, just the same indifferent expression. She didn’t bother explaining much, simply saying, "Enough talk. If we don’t attack first, that monster is going to come out."
Veins bulged on Fayestar’s forehead. She stared coldly at Seraphina Sinclair, and neither said another word, locked in a standoff.
It was Lyra Lowell who broke the tension. "B-Boss Sinclair, Fayestar! The monster is coming out!"
Fayestar abruptly broke her gaze, snorted coldly, tightened her grip on her dagger, and with a frigid look in her eyes, charged toward the monster!
Seraphina Sinclair moved as well.
She didn’t charge explosively like Fayestar. Instead, she took out the Single Lens from her Silver Moon Earrings, used Insight on the monster, and only then did she calmly move in, approaching from Fayestar’s flank.
Seraphina Sinclair had only been looking for a weakness, but the Single Lens didn’t just provide information on that; it also revealed the monster’s special ability.
[Weakness: Its soft surface is extremely elastic. Low-level weapons cannot break through. High-level weapons are recommended.]
[Special Ability: Regeneration]
[Regeneration: Provides a stable Regeneration Ability, allowing it to slowly heal over time regardless of the damage sustained. The speed of regeneration is related to its own energy reserves. It can be effectively countered by cutting off its energy supply or inflicting instantaneous damage that exceeds its regeneration limit.]
The moment the information registered in her eyes, Seraphina Sinclair’s gaze turned sharp.
’Regeneration!’
’This might be one of the most troublesome special abilities.’
’If they couldn’t inflict a fatal wound in a short time or cut off its energy source, the fight would turn into a never-ending war of attrition. In the end, they would be the ones worn down!’
This made Seraphina Sinclair even more certain of her guess.
She reached back and nudged the Sunflower’s pot upward, hoping the Sunflower... would truly make a difference.
The Rotsea Emberfiend’s reaction was far swifter and more terrifying than a D-level monster’s.
Several tentacles, like giant pythons that had scented blood, whipped toward them with a whistling sound, trailing a foul wind and afterimages of dark green poison mist.
Before the tentacles even arrived, a sense of suffocation from the viscous poison mist and a feeling of mental dizziness washed over them.
Without needing a reminder from Seraphina Sinclair, Fayestar had already jerked back, dodging the poison mist.
Seraphina Sinclair, however, gripped her long blade and calmly moved to intercept a whipping tentacle, approaching it from the side.
"Are you crazy?!" Fayestar’s heart nearly stopped when she saw the move.
That tentacle carried enough force to shatter rock, along with a corrosive poison mist. To take it head-on was suicide!
Of course, Seraphina Sinclair had no intention of taking it head-on.
The instant the tentacle was about to hit her, her body bent backward as if she had no bones, narrowly avoiding the direct strike. At the same time, her long blade carved a sharp arc, not at the tentacle itself, but precisely near the orifice at its base that was spraying the poison mist.
"SHRRIIEK!"
The blade scraped against the tough, slick, slime-covered skin, emitting a cringe-inducing sound, but failed to easily cut through!
At the critical moment, the long blade suddenly vanished.
In its place was a spear.
Seraphina Sinclair gripped the Abyssfrost Watersplitter Spear. Though she was using techniques meant for a blade, the piercing power of a B-level spearhead was far beyond that of a D-level blade!
She put her core into it, twisting her entire body’s strength into a single point. Using the momentum from her forward dash and dodge, she viciously thrust the Abyssfrost Watersplitter Spear toward the weak joint next to the poison-spraying orifice!
"SQUELCH!"
The spearhead plunged unimpeded into the dark green, rotting flesh, right up to the hilt!
Thick, foul-smelling fluid sprayed out, accompanied by a pained and furious shriek from the Rotsea Emberfiend.
The tentacle twitched violently and recoiled as if electrocuted, its ability to spray poison mist seemingly disabled for the moment.
The moment Seraphina Sinclair had switched to the spear, Fayestar had understood her intent.
Seeing Seraphina Sinclair critically wound the tentacle in a single strike, a sharp glint flashed in Fayestar’s eyes. Without further hesitation, her figure moved like a phantom, closing in on another tentacle that was trying to intercept Seraphina. A faint, dark luster bloomed on her dagger, seemingly an innate ability of the weapon itself.
