Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Heavenly Light Rune

’So he feels it too.’

Seraphina Sinclair agreed with a few of his points, then closed the chat window to prepare for rune making.

’I’ve been looking forward to this for so long. My guess has to be right.’

Before she began, she glanced at the time. There were still over ten minutes before the black fog would pour in—more than enough time.

The time, the place, the circumstances—everything was perfect. It was a great time to create a rune!

Seraphina Sinclair wasted no more time. She took a set of rune making tools from her Silver Moon Earrings, poured out some gasoline, then carefully pinched a small amount of Solar Flame Powder and mixed it in.

’There must be a specific reason for this amount.’

But as for what that reason was, Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know.

She only knew that the first time she used Moonlight Powder, she had used this exact amount, and it had been a success!

Ever since then, she’d used the same amount for all her powders.

This time was no exception, of course.

After mixing the powder evenly, Seraphina Sinclair lifted her rune pen, carefully dipped it, and activated Water Stopping once before putting pen to paper with a nervous heart.

The pattern for the Fire Drawing Rune was already engraved in her mind, and the brushstrokes moved smoothly across the Blank Talisman Paper.

’This rune seems to be going smoothly,’ Seraphina Sinclair thought.

’Success should be no problem...’

[Rune Making Failed: Interrupted Brushstroke (Survivor’s breathing is too erratic)]

Seraphina Sinclair: "..."

She looked up, her fingers gripping the rune pen, her expression extremely complicated.

Actually, Seraphina Sinclair had a feeling this would happen. Because this was something she had been anticipating for a long time, she’d been excited ever since she got the Solar Flame Powder.

The effect of Water Stopping was more of a finishing touch; asking it to save the day was a bit much.

Seraphina Sinclair sighed. Her fervent mood had calmed down considerably because of this little hiccup.

There was an upside to failing so quickly. With time still on her side, Seraphina Sinclair immediately picked up her pen again.

Rune painting was like that; you always had to maintain a calm heart.

Seraphina Sinclair took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, completely calming the erratic breathing caused by her anticipation and slight nervousness. She closed her eyes and mentally traced the path of the Fire Drawing Rune’s strokes once more, ensuring every line and every mark was perfectly clear.

When she opened her eyes again, her gaze had become tranquil and focused, like a deep pool reflecting the rune paper and tools on the desk, completely free of distracting thoughts.

She re-dipped her pen in the special fuel mixed with Solar Flame Powder until the tip was full.

She put pen to paper!

The tip of the rune pen touched the rune paper, making a very faint RUSTLING sound.

Her wrist was steady as a rock, the pressure even, and the pen moved with fluid grace, without the slightest hesitation.

The fuel mixed with Solar Flame Powder left a clear trail on the rune paper, faintly emitting a warm and pure aura.

The structure of the rune quickly took shape under her pen, seeming to possess a grander majesty than an ordinary Fire Drawing Rune.

The final stroke—a hook, and a lift of the brush!

The moment the brush tip lifted, the vermilion lines on the entire rune paper suddenly lit up. They emitted a light as warm as the midday sun but not searing, which lasted for about a second before slowly receding, finally settling into the paper. This made the entire rune look simple and ancient, yet brimming with powerful energy.

Success!

Almost simultaneously, a cold panel appeared clearly in her vision:

[Successfully created Unknown Rune (Requires Naming)]

[Effect: Ignites a special fuel mixed with Solar Flame Essence to create a ball of intense, pure flame. This flame has an extremely strong purifying and dispelling effect on negative energies such as filth and curses. The flame itself is extremely hot, capable of burning physical malevolent beings and continuously incinerating the target’s evil origin. Duration extended to 25 minutes.]

[Evaluation: The majestic Heavenly Light purges Malevolence. This is no ordinary fire, but the Flame of Evil-breaking, condensed from True Sun Fire. You have invented a powerful rune!]

Seraphina Sinclair looked at the faint glow flowing across the rune, feeling the Holy Radiance contained within. The corners of her perpetually tense mouth finally turned up in an uncontrollable smile.

’I finally made it.’

This feeling of anticipation finally becoming reality brought an exceptional sense of accomplishment.

"Naming..." Seraphina Sinclair murmured to herself. "The majestic Heavenly Light... In that case, let’s call it the Heavenly Light Rune."

The instant she finished naming it, the already dim sky outside suddenly darkened at an accelerated pace. A thick, ink-like black fog began to pour in from all directions, bringing with it a suffocating sense of oppression.

Appearing at the same time was a flashing "E+".

She had finally drawn an E+ Level Fire Drawing Rune!

Seraphina Sinclair smiled. Unhurriedly, she quickly stored the rune making tools from the table back into her Silver Moon Earrings, then tightly gripped the freshly made Heavenly Light Rune, which was still slightly warm to the touch.

A huge shadow slowly materialized in the black fog.

After putting on her lenses, the first thing Seraphina Sinclair saw was a section of twisted, deathly-white bone, contorted like a malformed deer antler, but much, much larger.

Further down was a large, writhing mass of flesh, the color of dark-red turning to black.

The most terrifying part was that the flesh was clearly embedded with several lifeless eyes of varying sizes. They had been rolling about blankly, but the moment they met Seraphina Sinclair’s gaze, they all snapped to fixate on her.

Just like that, it ignored the Blinding effect of the black fog and found its prey in the dense, swirling mist.

Even someone like Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t help but tense up. She had a bad feeling and decided to use her lenses’ Insight ability directly.

As a wave of Mental Pressure washed over her, she also saw the monster’s rating clearly.

D-level!

Not even a D- monster! It skipped a whole sub-level! A D-level monster, right off the bat!

’Couldn’t they give me any warning at all?’

Seraphina Sinclair had originally thought that at this stage, a few E-level monsters would appear together, giving her a decent transition period.

She never expected a D-level monster to show up on the very same day!

’Is this supposed to be training?’

’This thing is out for my life.’

She stood up straight, straightened her appearance slightly, and mentally cursed the system’s entire family.

Only then did she silently grip her long blade in one hand and the rune in the other, focusing her mind to quickly scan through the Insight results again.

[Hundred-Eyed Rotfiend (D-level)]

[Description: A massive monster formed from the mutated and fused battlefield remains of other monsters deep within the black fog. Its main body is supported by twisted, overgrown, deathly-white bones and covered in constantly writhing, dark-red corrupted flesh that drips a viscous black liquid. Embedded within the flesh are dozens of eyeballs from different sources, which can lock onto a prey’s aura. It moves slowly, but its attack range is enormous, and its swinging bone limbs carry immense force and corrosive venom! If you encounter it in your mobile cabin, you poor survivor, you’d better pray for your cabin.]

Seraphina Sinclair: "..."

She could even imagine the system’s gleeful, trouble-making attitude as it wrote that last sentence.

But who would have the luxury of worrying about their mobile cabin?

’They’d obviously be worried about their own life, right?’
