Chapter 58: 58 - Seraphine’s Change

Would someone as arrogant as King really need Seraphine to believe him? Normally, no, but the situation right now was a little different.

He had said he would ’teach’ her, so of course he encouraged her thirst for knowledge and desire to find out the truth.

Besides, if she understood him better, then if they met again in the future, she wouldn’t have to keep wondering about him.

The more Seraphine listened to King, the wider her eyes opened. One absurd story after another connected in a perfectly logical way, making her start to doubt herself...

But it wasn’t enough for her to doubt her own thoughts just because everything he said sounded logical.

King had quite a lot of solid evidence, such as: a fashion style that didn’t belong to this world, a lack of knowledge about mages but incredible skill with the sword, a transformation ability that had never been heard of in history, and a system that was always by his side.

There was also one perfect thing supporting all this evidence, and that was King’s confidence. Watching every one of his gestures, Seraphine couldn’t detect even the slightest hint of deceit.

King talked a lot, so if he were lying, he would definitely reveal a flaw, even if it was only a tiny one. But he spoke very smoothly, very confidently, as if everything had just happened yesterday.

"I’ve finished talking. Now you can get mad. Even if you cough up blood and pass out, I won’t kill you, so please, go ahead."

As soon as he finished saying everything he needed to say, King took a step back and gestured for her to go ahead. The problem probably wouldn’t be too serious if not for the extremely punchable expression on his face.

Seraphine’s wide-open eyes blinked a few times before glaring at him. The sheer amount of information just now was too much, so she needed some time to process it and only reacted this slowly.

"Wouldn’t getting angry be too much of a favor to you? Hmph!"

She only snorted once, then closed her eyes. Her fingers kept tapping on the wand as if she were thinking about something.

For now, she believed King, so she was trying to look at things from his perspective. Even though she didn’t understand things like what a phone was, she didn’t think it was important. What mattered was reading novels.

Coincidentally, Seraphine had also read quite a few entertaining works. Compared to those dry books about potions or techniques that gave her a headache just from reading them, she preferred reading things that made her feel more relaxed.

Having truly top-tier talent was really convenient. She didn’t need theory or to study all sorts of profound magical knowledge for anything. As long as she held the wand in her hand, she could use it freely, just like it was a part of her own body.

When reading those kinds of books, all she wanted was entertainment. In other words, she wanted to find something fun and interesting.

Looking at it from this perspective, most of King’s arrogance and actions could be explained. But the parts that couldn’t be explained were probably just because of his naturally weird personality.

"Boring. Then I’m leaving. System, take me back."

He had said everything that needed to be said, and he had ’taught’ her everything that needed to be taught. King didn’t want to stay here any longer either. He wanted to go to the library or somewhere that contained information about the method of flight he needed.

[As you command, master.]

In the blink of an eye, the system immediately took King away from this place. It was so fast that Seraphine could do nothing except stare blankly for three seconds.

"What the hell?"

She immediately looked around. She even looked up at the sky and down at the ground because she thought King had just used some absurdly fast speed to pull off some mysterious trick. But no matter how long she looked, she couldn’t find anything.

Not only could she not see anything, but she couldn’t hear anything either. If he had moved at a speed so fast that she couldn’t see any trace of him, there should definitely have been a sonic boom.

"Tsk, so that guy went back to that place called Earth? No, it should probably be called Earth II. Damn, where the hell is this guy’s home?"

Thinking about what King had said, up until now, he had already been to three different worlds. There would probably be even more in the future... Maybe he would meet more protagonists, more female leads...

"Hmph, he’s definitely going to pull some perverted shit with even more people."

Thinking about what she had gone through, she guessed the fate of the other female leads probably wouldn’t be much better. Of course, that was assuming the next world King went to had female leads for him to mess around with.

"Elias is the protagonist..."

Thinking about what King had said, her eyes turned toward Elias. Looking at the young man she admired so much, she suddenly didn’t know what to think.

"He’s so persistent because he’s the protagonist. His persistence will definitely get him the result he wants no matter how many difficulties he faces..."

The more she thought about it, the stranger she felt. If everything had already been arranged, was Elias really as amazing as she had once thought? Or was it precisely because everything had been arranged that Elias was truly great?

"Tsk, this is really annoying. If this world is a novel, then I’m just someone’s thoughts brought into existence..."

Her brows furrowed, her face filled with displeasure, looking extremely frustrated. Going from a genius who could be said to have everything to someone who truly had ’nothing’ made her unhappy.

"Whatever, I’ll just ignore it. At least I’m still the female lead, so my life shouldn’t be too bad... If he’s the protagonist and I’m the female lead, then wouldn’t we be a couple?"

Thinking about this, her eyes turned toward Elias once again. Although King hadn’t clearly said anything about this, she could feel the implication in his words.

Before meeting King, this really would have happened because Seraphine liked Elias’s personality very much. But after meeting a bastard, her admiration for Elias was still there, but as for love...

"Tsk, it’s all that bastard’s fault. The next time I see him, I’m definitely going to pin him to the ground and humiliate him. I have to try even harder."

She raised her head toward the sky, looking into nowhere. Although there was nothing in front of her, that bastard’s face seemed to be right there in front of her.

Revenge is a dish best served cold!
