Chapter 108: The Young Master’s Challenge
Victor stood between them.
He watched the two girls for a moment before a small smile appeared on his face.
"Are you ready?"
As he spoke, he casually twirled the spear in his hand.
The weapon moved smoothly through his fingers.
It was a second-ranked spiritual weapon. Intricate patterns had been carved along its shaft, and faint spiritual light flowed through those markings.
The metal tip flashed beneath the afternoon sun.
Lane tightened her grip around her sword.
Her eyes immediately became sharper.
"Yes, Young Master!"
Skyla answered at almost the exact same moment.
"Yes, Young Master!"
Their voices rang through the clearing together.
There was no hesitation in either girl’s voice.
Only determination.
Victor’s smile widened slightly.
"Okay, then."
Victor reached toward his storage ring.
A faint ripple of spiritual energy passed through the air.
A second spear appeared in his hand.
He gave his shoulder a slow roll, loosening the muscles before settling into a relaxed stance.
There was no tension in his posture.
No hesitation.
He simply stood there with the spear resting comfortably in his grip.
Then he looked at the two girls.
"Attack me with everything you’ve got."
Lane and Skyla exchanged a glance.
Neither of them hesitated.
They nodded at the same time.
Both girls drew their swords.
The moment their fingers closed around the hilts, their expressions changed.
The playful mood disappeared.
Spiritual mana began flowing through their bodies before pouring into their weapons.
The atmosphere around them immediately changed.
A faint crackling sound filled the air.
Energy gathered around the blades.
Lane stepped forward first.
"Clear Wind Cut!"
Her voice rang out sharply.
At almost the same moment, Skyla raised her sword.
"Sword Flash!"
Her voice carried a completely different feeling.
Bright.
Confident.
Almost cheerful.
The spiritual mana inside both swords surged.
Lane’s blade was enveloped by a pale green glow.
Skyla’s sword burst into brilliant white light.
For a moment, the courtyard seemed to brighten.
Victor narrowed his golden eyes.
He could feel the pressure coming from the two swords.
This wasn’t simply swordsmanship.
They were manipulating spiritual mana directly.
Only warriors who had reached the Spiritual Adept Stage could perform such techniques with this level of control.
Lane swung her sword.
A sharp gust of wind tore through the air.
Several condensed wind blades shot toward Victor.
At nearly the same moment, Skyla slashed her sword.
Brilliant light gathered along the edge before breaking away in the form of several razor-sharp blades.
The attacks came together.
Wind blades howled through the air.
Light blades flashed like streaks of lightning.
Their speed was frightening.
Victor’s golden eyes moved rapidly.
He saw everything.
The trajectory of every projectile.
The slight differences in speed.
The gaps between them.
Lane’s attacks were fast and sharp.
Skyla’s were harder to track because of their blinding radiance.
Victor tightened his grip on the spear.
Then he moved.
One swing.
Then another.
And another.
His movements became faster with every strike.
Within a few seconds, the spear had already swept through the air dozens of times.
To anyone watching from a distance, the weapon had almost disappeared.
Only a metallic blur remained around Victor.
Clang!
A wind blade shattered.
Clang!
Another vanished beneath the spearhead.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The light blades were destroyed one after another.
Sparks burst through the air.
The remaining spiritual energy scattered like glowing dust before disappearing completely.
Not a single attack reached Victor.
Lane froze.
Her black eyes widened.
She stared at him for several seconds before her mouth slowly fell open.
"Young Master... you blocked them all?"
Skyla, however, wasn’t surprised.
A proud smile appeared on her face.
Her green eyes sparkled with admiration.
"Of course he did."
She glanced at Lane.
"He’s our Young Master."
Victor lowered his spear.
A faint smile touched his lips.
"That was good."
He looked between them.
"But you two can do better than that, can’t you?"
Lane’s eyes narrowed.
Then a mischievous grin spread across her face.
"Oh?"
She tightened her grip on her sword.
"You asked for it."
The next instant, she disappeared.
Not literally.
She simply moved so quickly that her figure blurred.
Wind erupted around her body.
Her Hurricane Spiritual Root reacted almost instinctively, enhancing her speed and allowing the surrounding wind to push her forward.
She became like an arrow released from a bow.
Skyla followed immediately behind.
Her movements were completely different.
She wasn’t as explosive as Lane.
There was a strange grace to every step she took.
Her Radiant Forest Spiritual Root flowed through her body.
Green and white light intertwined around her sword.
The wood and light attributes merged together, giving her attacks a soft but dangerous glow.
Victor’s expression became serious.
He lowered his center of gravity.
His spear came up.
Lane reached him first.
She swung her sword in a wide arc.
The blade cut toward his side.
Victor shifted his feet.
His spear snapped sideways.
Clang!
The two weapons collided.
Sparks scattered across the ground.
The force of the impact pushed Lane backward.
But she didn’t resist it.
Instead, she used the momentum.
Her body twisted.
She spun around Victor like a gust of wind.
"Too slow, Young Master!"
Her teasing voice came from behind him.
Victor smiled.
"Really?"
He turned his head slightly.
Then his spear shot forward.
"Heaven Piercing Spear."
The words had barely left his mouth when the weapon thrust toward Lane.
The spearhead carried a faint glow.
Its speed was far greater than before.
Lane’s playful expression vanished.
She leaned backward at the last possible moment.
Whoosh!
The spear passed directly beside her.
The tip grazed her shoulder.
She felt the sharp sensation of the passing attack and immediately jumped away.
"Close one!"
She let out a breath.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly.
There wasn’t much time to recover.
A flash of green and white appeared behind Victor.
Skyla.
Her sword came down from above.
Victor sensed her presence before the blade reached him.
He spun around.
The shaft of his spear rose just in time.
Clang!
