Super Soldier in the City

Chapter 2818 - 2880: I Want to Kiss You

  • Next Chapter

Is lying together just for talking? Isn’t that nonsense? Li Yifei felt Wu Shuwei’s initiative, which was nothing short of a miracle. So, if Li Yifei didn’t seize this moment, he’d be condemned by the heavens.

After Li Yifei spoke, Wu Shuwei felt a bit shaken. She originally had this thought, and as soon as he mentioned it, she felt shy. Nonetheless, Li Yifei seized the moment, and seeing Wu Shuwei not speaking, he directly said, "I’ll go get your blanket. Oh, there’s milk in the microwave, it’s warmed up, you take it out."

"I’ve brushed my teeth!" Wu Shuwei replied.

Li Yifei had already sprinted upstairs, since Wu Shuwei only mentioned brushing her teeth and didn’t stop him from getting the blanket. So, a few seconds later, Li Yifei rushed downstairs, holding the blanket, and threw it onto the bed, spreading it out on the inner side.

Such things often lead to more occurrences, especially for young men and women. It seemed the thin layer of paper between them was on the verge of breaking through, likely to fall away even with a slight breeze.

Li Yifei felt a wave of excitement. He downed a glass of milk quickly and, seeing Wu Shuwei not drinking hers, casually drank her share too. After brushing his teeth again, Li Yifei saw Wu Shuwei had already lay down.

"Should I turn off the light?" Li Yifei asked.

"Let’s... wait a bit." Wu Shuwei hesitated and said.

"Alright. I’ll turn it off in a bit!" Li Yifei said, and with that, he got into bed, sliding into the blanket, still wearing his pajamas,

"Why aren’t you taking off your pajamas?" Wu Shuwei asked.

"You felt awkward last time, so I’ll just keep them on."

"It’s not awkward... take them off, it’ll be more comfortable for you!" Wu Shuwei suggested.

Li Yifei chuckled and said, "Then I’ll take them off. Hmm, do you want to see my muscles or something, that’s why..."

"No, who wants to see that, you’re not even good-looking." Wu Shuwei quickly said.

With a pull, the pajamas came off, and Li Yifei tossed them casually onto the clothes rack.

"Li Yifei!" After lying down, Wu Shuwei suddenly called him by his full name, which she hadn’t done for days, usually just calling him Yifei.

"Hmm?" Li Yifei turned his head and saw Wu Shuwei batting her eyes, looking at him intently. Her long eyelashes curved elegantly, her eyes big and lively, each feature perfectly harmonious. Just looking at her made Li Yifei want to lean over and kiss her.

After all, Li Yifei wasn’t a block of wood. From Wu Shuwei’s initial stern refusal, wanting to lock the bedroom door each night, to now coming downstairs of her own accord after washing up, even a fool could understand her intentions.

Opening one’s heart! Those four words, Wu Shuwei was opening her heart to Li Yifei. If he still acted like a block of wood, it would truly be a shame.

"What’s wrong?" Li Yifei asked. Wu Shuwei blinked and suddenly smiled, not a wide smile, but one that spread from the corners of her mouth across her whole face, eyes and brows alight like a blooming flower. Li Yifei couldn’t help but chuckle along; when the beauty laughs, his mood lifts as well. He said, "What’s wrong? If you don’t speak, I can’t understand you."

"Silly," Wu Shuwei couldn’t help but tease him, rolling her eyes playfully. That glance was so charming and lively, leaving Li Yifei feeling even happier inside. There’s a saying that when a woman calls a man silly, it usually signals the two are getting close, like some kind of secret code; Wu Shuwei’s words were a signal Li Yifei received loud and clear.

He laughed softly, turning over to move closer, lying on his side toward Wu Shuwei. They were already very close, perhaps less than twenty centimeters apart. Li Yifei only needed to move a little closer to be right up against Wu Shuwei.

"You..." Wu Shuwei wanted to retreat back, but she was already near the wall and couldn’t go any further.

Li Yifei’s eyes were bright and burning with a fiery intensity as he looked at Wu Shuwei and said, "You called me earlier, but didn’t say why?"

"I don’t have anything, I just called out." Wu Shuwei’s gaze was evasive, clearly flustered.

Li Yifei wouldn’t let it slide, still inching forward, asking, "Are you sure there’s nothing? I thought you had something to say."

"No, let’s just sleep, you go turn off the light." Wu Shuwei was getting anxious.

For grown men and women, even teenagers, when two people are lying together, isn’t it obvious what might happen? The other day was a special case, they had no choice but to sleep together, but now with at least three bedrooms available, squeezing together seems illogical.

Wu Shuwei felt a tiny pang of regret, but more than that, a surge of anticipation.

Li Yifei waved his hand, a stream of energy shot out, turning off the switch. The room plunged into darkness as Wu Shuwei’s breathing got tighter. She was a bit nervous, unsure of what would happen next, whether they’d just fall asleep, or...

"Shuwei!" Li Yifei’s voice came, right by her ear. Wu Shuwei swallowed, then heard Li Yifei continue, "I have something to say to you."

"Then why... didn’t you say it earlier!" Wu Shuwei was referring to before the lights went out, why wait until now when she couldn’t see his expression or actions.

"Then I’ll turn the light back on," Li Yifei said.

"Forget it, just say it like this, you’re going to cause more trouble." Wu Shuwei stopped him, though she knew that Li Yifei could turn on the light with just a wave of his hand. She didn’t let him do it because if something happened after the light was on, she might feel embarrassed.

Some things had already begun; some things could also be anticipated, hence Wu Shuwei’s actions.

No light, then no light. After all, vision wasn’t affected. Li Yifei chuckled, his body moved again, drawing closer to Wu Shuwei, holding her hand, he said, "Shall I start talking then?"

"You can say it there, no need to be so close; I... can hear you." Wu Shuwei said.

"Close? I thought I was still far away!" Li Yifei said, noticing Wu Shuwei’s breathing was getting rapid, and her heartbeat was accelerating.

"Yifei, what... do you want to say? Just hurry up so we can sleep." Wu Shuwei’s voice had a slight tremor.

"Silly girl!" Li Yifei couldn’t help but say.

"You’re the silly one."

"Alright then, I’ll say it!"

"Hmm..."

"I want to kiss you!" Li Yifei said softly, adding, "In a formal way!"

"You!" Wu Shuwei’s heart suddenly raced, nervously biting her lip; with the curtains drawn, the room was very dark, and Wu Shuwei’s eyes hadn’t adjusted to the darkness. She couldn’t make out Li Yifei’s expression; hearing these words caused a reflexive reaction.

"It’s coming from the heart!" Li Yifei said, "I admit I’m quite fickle, and it’s a flaw people criticize, but for the ones I truly like, I give genuine love. I’m willing to give everything I can to make this relationship more perfect."

"You... you stop talking, Yifei!" Wu Shuwei suddenly extended her hand, seemingly to press against Li Yifei’s chest to prevent him from approaching. After a few seconds, she continued, "I’m tired; let’s go to sleep!"

"Alright!" Li Yifei sighed inwardly, knowing he shouldn’t push further.

"Hmm, good night." Wu Shuwei softly replied, Li Yifei smiled and said, "Okay, goodnight, sweet dreams."

The night could be peaceful, but can one sleep? What if sleep doesn’t come? Li Yifei, with a hint of regret, opened his eyes to see Wu Shuwei, finding her eyes also open. In the dark, she turned over slightly, with a pair of eyes gazing in Li Yifei’s direction.

Though she couldn’t see as clearly as Li Yifei, she was still watching.

In the darkness, they looked at each other, time slowly ticking away. Wu Shuwei held her breath, gently stretched out her hand, and took the initiative.

Oh? Li Yifei’s eyes lit up; Wu Shuwei actually took the initiative to hold his hand, which Li Yifei hadn’t anticipated. Being active or passive are entirely different matters, especially when Wu Shuwei had just rejected Li Yifei and suggested sleep, but now she proactively extended her hand.

Li Yifei’s mood surged, but he remained still, without responding to Wu Shuwei. After more than a minute, Wu Shuwei seemed to be checking if Li Yifei had fallen asleep; seeing no reaction, her fingers lightly traced in his palm. The gesture was gentle, and seeing Li Yifei still unresponsive, Wu Shuwei softly hummed, seemingly slightly dissatisfied.

Li Yifei then held onto Wu Shuwei’s hand, causing her to startle.

"Can’t sleep?" Li Yifei softly asked, Wu Shuwei responded with a hmm, prompting him to turn over entirely, pressing closely against Wu Shuwei’s body, and in a magnetic tone, said, "How about we play a game?"

"What... what game?" Wu Shuwei couldn’t help but hold her breath, and pursed her lips after speaking.

"You’ll know if you close your eyes."

"No, I want to keep them open." Wu Shuwei said.

"But even if they are open, you still won’t see anything."

"Then turn on the light!"

"Are you sure?"

"Hmm."

Li Yifei waved his hand, True Qi shot out, and turned on not the overhead light, but the bedside lamp, its warm yellow glow lighting up, allowing them to lock eyes, Wu Shuwei adjusted for a few seconds, then stared unblinkingly at Li Yifei.

At this moment, Li Yifei already supported himself, hovering above Wu Shuwei, not because of danger where Li Yifei needed to protect her, nor was it accidental, but Li Yifei consciously did so. Wu Shuwei had unlocked that key, as if the layer of paper between them was no longer intact, with its point already pressing against the surface.

"The game I want to play with you is..." Li Yifei slowly said, as he began lowering his body, Wu Shuwei’s eyes widened, appearing dazed, but in reality... she was waiting. She was truly nervous because once it happened, it signified an end to past persistence, and the beginning of another new Chapter.
