Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 2733 - 2795: Important Guest
Wang Yaxin and another female doctor were petrified at the time, so scared that they even forgot to dodge. Both of them were young doctors who had never encountered such a murderous attack on doctors. The machete in the assailant’s hand had already struck down two doctors, leaving them on the ground, their fates unknown. Now, the attacker was coming towards them, almost rushing into the room. Outside, chaos reigned, and if no action was taken, it was likely the two of them would soon be cut down by the thug.
But no one stopped the man. He had already blocked the doorway, glaring at Wang Yaxin and the other doctor with a twisted expression, muttering curses, clearly in a state of madness. Just as the thug stepped inside, ready to advance, a figure appeared at the door.
It was Brother Hu. He noticed people running frantically out of the hospital, sensed something was wrong, and quickly ran inside. He heard that someone was attacking doctors and immediately rushed to Wang Yaxin’s office on the third floor. As Brother Hu reached the third floor, he saw a lot of blood on the ground, a doctor in a white coat lying motionless in a pool of blood, with blood stains extending inward. Brother Hu quickened his pace because Wang Yaxin’s office was just inside.
So as the thug prepared to swing his blade at the unarmed Wang Yaxin and the other female doctor, Brother Hu arrived. He lunged forward and embraced the thug from behind.
Whether it was bad luck or the thug’s quick reflexes, as Brother Hu was about to wrap his arms around him, the thug turned back. He saw Brother Hu, his eyes widened immediately, and he swung his knife.
"No!" Wang Yaxin cried out in panic, but it was too late. Brother Hu had already lunged forward and couldn’t stop. Besides, he didn’t plan to stop. How could the thug dare to harm Wang Yaxin like that? Even if it cost him his life, Brother Hu was determined to stop the thug. But he also saw the thug’s movement and knew he couldn’t completely evade the slash. However, he could avoid getting hit in a critical area. So, he slightly twisted his body. Although he couldn’t dodge the slash completely, he prevented the thug from hitting his abdomen directly.
"Rip!" Brother Hu’s pants were slashed open, leaving a deep wound on his thigh. The pain caused his body to stagger, but his strong arms had already wrapped around the thug, firmly restraining him. With great strength, he clamped the thug’s arms.
The thug immediately fought back, struggling with all his might. But Brother Hu directly butted his head against the thug, hitting the thug’s nose. The impact left the thug disoriented and struck the bridge of his nose, instantly incapacitating him.
Brother Hu disregarded his own pain, seized the opportunity to tackle the thug to the ground, pressing his knee against the thug’s hand holding the knife. With a fierce effort, the thug let go of the knife due to the pain, and Brother Hu breathed a sigh of relief.
Wang Yaxin rushed over, shouting Brother Hu’s name while helping to restrain the thug.
"Forget about me! You two get out of here, call the hospital security, and report this to the police!" Brother Hu calmly said.
"Your leg... let me bandage it first!" Wang Yaxin said urgently.
"The leg’s fine, it’s just a minor scratch. Go hide first in case he has accomplices!" Brother Hu looked up and spoke to Wang Yaxin.
This tenderness was rarely seen. Brother Hu usually wouldn’t act like this. Wang Yaxin grabbed the other female doctor and pushed her towards the door, saying, "Go quickly, get the security and tell them the thug has been subdued, so they can get here in a hurry!"
She turned back to the cabinet afterward. The hospital wasn’t short of medical supplies, so Wang Yaxin quickly grabbed an emergency kit, taking out a series of items skillfully. Brother Hu was still pressing down on the thug. His weight, combined with the pressure on the thug’s joints, made it impossible for the thug to break free, even with all his strength.
"I... I’m going to treat you now. Hang in there." Wang Yaxin knew that in such situations, bandaging wasn’t advisable. Nobody knew what had been on the blade. Whether it was safe wasn’t certain, but she didn’t want to see Brother Hu bleeding, especially not if it hit an artery. With so much blood on the ground, it was hard for Wang Yaxin to stay calm.
Brother Hu was injured saving her; it was truly selfless. This deeply moved Wang Yaxin, and she recognized Brother Hu’s character.
So, she used scissors to cut open Brother Hu’s pants, revealing an inverted wound, about ten centimeters long and quite deep, seeming to have hit arteries or similar blood vessels. The bleeding was heavy, and since Brother Hu was kneeling while restraining the thug, it resulted in even more blood loss. Wang Yaxin applied gauze to the wound to temporarily stop the bleeding and wrapped it with bandages, hoping to alleviate the bleeding for the time being.
This was all done quickly. After finishing, Wang Yaxin heard footsteps in the corridor. The thug’s attack happened so fast that many were still bewildered. Most security personnel were on the first floor and outside, taking time to respond upon receiving the news; they only arrived now.
A violent act against doctors that could have resulted in more injuries was thwarted by Brother Hu. Otherwise, Wang Yaxin and the other female doctor might have suffered, and perhaps more doctors would have been hurt. Brother Hu’s actions completely changed Wang Yaxin’s impression of him. This man... was truly reliable.
This incident was just a small piece of many news stories, but for Wang Yaxin, it was a significant event that would influence her future life. She strongly demanded that Brother Hu be hospitalized and took a few days off to care for him. The hospital was aware of such a brave man, leading the dean to the department heads coming to visit several times. It even made Brother Hu, usually seen as a bad guy, feel embarrassed. Despite his previous antics, Brother Hu would have stepped in even if it wasn’t Wang Yaxin but someone else in danger. Being reckless in the past didn’t mean he was still the same now.
But this time, his brave act won him a beautiful lady. The days Wang Yaxin spent caring for him helped deepen their understanding of each other, and soon they both felt that they were meant for each other, that they had found the one.
Sometimes feelings develop quickly with the right person, while efforts with the wrong person are in vain. After discharge, Brother Hu started picking Wang Yaxin up from work. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to pick her up in the morning, but rather, Wang Yaxin didn’t want him to tire himself out. Otherwise, Brother Hu would make time for it no matter how busy he was.
Actually, he would pick her up for two days, and then Wang Yaxin would take two days off, so it turned out to be quite enjoyable.
Both families were aware of their relationship and supportive, knowing Brother Hu wasn’t a chaotic person. Despite his undesirable past, he had improved, was working seriously, and had decent character. There was no reason to oppose it, especially since Brother Hu showed great respect for Wang Yaxin. In his words, his education might not be high, but they would discuss and make decisions together without brute force or arbitrary actions.
This could be considered a romantic promise, spoken sincerely, reflecting Brother Hu’s true feelings. Wang Yaxin was much younger, a postgraduate intending to pursue a doctorate, so there was a significant cultural gap to bridge. Fortunately, Brother Hu had broadened his horizons over the years, making their conversations interesting.
Cultural differences weren’t the real barrier; the true barrier lay in the heart. Hearts in communication reduced obstacles, while misalignment could complicate matters.
Last year, Brother Hu proposed marrying. At that time, Wang Yaxin focused on her studies and exams, causing a delay. Brother Hu wasn’t in a hurry. He was no longer young and didn’t mind waiting a while longer. After Wang Yaxin passed her doctoral exam two months ago, Brother Hu completed the purchase of a house—a detached villa, with the property deed directly in Wang Yaxin’s name, and also bought a BMW for her to use for work.
They began discussing their wedding plans, with no hesitation regarding the dowry. In Brother Hu’s words, he belonged to her, as did everything else. Wang Yaxin’s attitude was commendable; she valued him as a person over wealth, showing indifference towards property deeds or cars. Whether there was wealth or not didn’t matter to her. With their work state, acquiring these was feasible.
With everything going well, satisfied with Wang Yaxin as his partner, Brother Hu’s family chose an auspicious day, and the couple registered their marriage, setting the wedding date. However, Brother Hu was concerned that Li Yifei might not attend, given his significant responsibilities at the national level. Tentatively, Brother Hu called, hoping for good news but was pleasantly surprised when Li Yifei readily accepted, even offering to help in advance.
Brother Hu, thrilled by Li Yifei’s acceptance, was all smiles, feeling like dancing.
"Honey, a very important guest will attend our wedding. Inform your family, so they’re not unprepared," Brother Hu quickly messaged Wang Yaxin.
She replied, "What guest? Hold on, I have two patients here. I’ll contact you once finished."
Brother Hu waited patiently until Wang Yaxin called back after half an hour. After explaining, she asked, "Brother Hu, who’s coming to the wedding?"
"The Boss, my Boss! Haha, he’s coming to our wedding!" Brother Hu exclaimed excitedly.
The Boss? Your Boss? Wang Yaxin didn’t know much about Brother Hu’s past. They intentionally avoided it since his past, as he described, was less than savory, and he didn’t want to bring it up. So, Wang Yaxin instinctively assumed Brother Hu’s boss was someone from the same rough circles.
